I didnt like him at first, but he really started to grow on me as the game progressed. I enjoyed having him on my squad. Anyone else feel the same way?
Did you like James Vega?

Very much so! I was surprised when they didn't give him his own little side mission. Considering that he is only in one game they have limited time to develop him, giving him his own mission would have helped that along.
And my Femshep was sorely disappointed to find out all the flirting comes to nothing

Yes! I was really hoping for more back story and as the previous poster said, to have that flirting come to something, a relationship or just some fun.

I honestly didn't think I would. But I did. I actually took him with me a lot on missions.

When I heard that he would be representing a person who's new to the ME universe, I was thinking 'Oh. Great. He's gonna be blurting out the obvious all the time.'...
...but then surprisingly, he's one of my favourite characters in the trilogy! I think he ties with Garrus ;P (and that's something!)
I wish he was there from the first game

I could have; had he had more dialogue and time to develop. He what? Had two or three private scenes with Shepard, where we actually got to talk to him? The rest of it was basically squad-banter.

No
Maybe it's the french voice actor, that does a very average job,but he's nothing special, I talked to him during two playtrhough now I leave him on the cargo bay (oh there also the sparring scene where Femshep 's voice is awful so that don't help him either)
Though I like bringing him on the mission to rescue Koris, and send him messing with the Geth cannons

Vega is alright. I tend to leave him on the Normandy. But then I tend to leave the VS on the Normandy too. No matter if it is Ash or Kaidan.
He actually had me mad at him when he crashed the Cerberus shuttle and almost killed Liara. But Shepard smacked him around some and felt better afterwards.

Vega is awesome. He's great to have on missions, I love his banter with Cortez, and the discussion he has with Garrus about who has the more balls as a soldier is hilarious.
Vega FTW.

Well he started off on all the wrong notes - muscle bound space marine jarhead... dumb nicknames... and stereotypical.
He grows on you though. Always laugh when hearing him and Cortez talk. Still, I prefer having the rooted characters around over him.

I thought I'd dislike him more than I did. He's never gonna make my list of favorites, but he's inoffensive and there's a certain good ol' boy charm to him. I can understand why people bring him on missions and go talk to him on the Citadel. And he's hilarious, so there's that. And Freddy Prinze Jr. gets props for doing a damn good job as a VA.

His banter with the other squad mates was awesome; he was a great character but I kept using up all his dialogue/encounters as they came available so towards the end he didn't say much and I kind of... forgot about him.

I think Prinze, Jr did an outstanding job with Vega. I think he is alright, but yea. He does start off on the wrong foot. At least with me. He almost kills my favorite character in the game.BigBad wrote...

I think one of the best banter scenes with him besides the one with Garrus in the mess is the one with Cortez when they discuss Mako vs Hammerhead. Love that part. Because they both say what I feel about both. Only difference is Vega says the Hammerhead has tissue paper for armor and I call it tin foil.

He is not on the list of my favourite squadmates or anything, but the voice-acting generally made me think the character was alright. Freddy Prinze Jr. nailed it most of the time, and changed my opinion of the character.
Though I did not like the forced flirting with femShep, especially the 'make good on it' line. Seemed weird and out of place when she already had a ME2 relationship established and continued. Should have been able to put a stop to that. \\o/
But yeah, pleasantly surprised after an initial disapproving reaction.

I wish they'd taken more time to develop him, as it is he feels like a somewhat lacking character. I never read the books or watched the anime, though, so maybe that's my own fault.
Still, I love what we did get to see and learn about Vega. He's got a lot of potential, I wish they played out the mentor thing a bit more between him and Shep.
I hated that Shep would auto-flirt back, though,

hated the guy from the get go.
Hotter tempered than wrex, openly crticial of leadership, visibly on steroids. Nope. I'd be a turian, he'd be out the airlock.
Give me back jack instead! She really had powerfull emotion and true power. Vega, he's just on roids.
I was tempted every turn to give him a shuttle to the nearest station. Go pee in a bottle and give me the results powder nose!
Ashley, barely usefull. She's just another mouth to feed.
Vega is a mouth to feed, no more. At least he keeps company to the shuttle pilot.
The protean guy at least has some intel to share.

I think he is OK, but like EDI as a squadmate, he is a bit superfluous considering so many people from ME2 that were left behind, besides Wrex.

No, I'm not like James Vega.
But I have no problems with him in my Shep's team. One of most used team-mates, in fact.

Once I told him to stop calling me Lola we got along great. I thought I'd hate him but he turned out to have some of the funniest dialogue in the game, and none of it with Shepard.

I like Vega, he started of kind of bland but he ended up rather cool, it's in playthrough 2 he start to become a really awesome character and the more i use him the better he becomes
