When I got to that point with my 2h warrior on normal I had problems and had to chug health poultice.
But got a feeling that my rogue will just destroy him

Going to be fun to see just how fast my rogue will slaughter Loghain when I get there ;/

Generally speaking this fight is actually pretty hard for Rogues unless they either cheap out on stealth + bomb throwing, or get really lucky with paralyzation runes. Loghain has pretty insane resists, uses perfect striking and hits deceptively hard for a sword and board user. Even if you're winning he can down you really fast if he gets lucky.
I usually use Alistair anyway for this fight. It seems more fitting.

Hmm, that's what my rogue did. Cheap out? I thre bombs and a paralysis rune activated a couple of times. Thought I was being rather crafty actually.

Nah. No poisons, no bombs, no paralyze runes. Just 1 stealth Dirty Fighting and Riposte.

Yeah, it is irritating on the PC because once you have used up the 8 "dog" talents, there is nothing for Dog to put talent points in. So, he just sits there with that stupid level up cross on the whole time.Dark83 wrote...
Console Dog has Warrior, PC Dog does not.
I think he ends up with 2 or 3 extra talent points around level 24.
/sidenote: Has anyone ever tried to use a talent book on the dog?

Frankly, I was surprised that the dog was the only party member the Landsmeet objected to. Letting Loghain duel a magic user is obviously unfair. In my second game, my PC mage had Cone of Cold and Crushing Prison. I almost felt sorry for the guy.
I didn't. It was rather refreshing forcing Loghain into a fight that he couldn't run away from. The filthy Coward.
I boiled his blood. In front of the Landsmeet

I didn't have much trouble taking out Loghain with my dual weapon rogue. Riposte worked like a charm allowing me to slide around behind and use my heavy hitters. Then there was quite a bit of "strategic circling" (running in circles) while I waited for skills to recharge so I could wash, rinse, repeat.
Well, I did say it was hard if you didn't "cheap out". Draw your own conclusions.

well obviously if your charachter has less health you won't just stand there and fight him face to faceJJM152 wrote...

but why would you unless you are a tank with an insane amount of health
otherwise it would be just stupid

Since she was an archer, this necessitated a lot of kiting - not that cheap a tactic, IMHO, when your character is so squishy. It's also not possible to use Ranger summons in that fight, so her specialisation wasn't doing me any good.
After I'd done a few rounds of Dirty Fighting/run laps of the throne room, Loghain's AI was actually smart enough to figure out my plan, whereupon he took out a bow and started pinging away at me. I must have stared at the screen in utter disbelief for a good sixty seconds before I remembered to hit him with Arrow of Slaying. I thought that if I stayed on the other side of the room he'd eventually swap tactics, but no. He just stood there at shot at me while I threw every archer talent in the book at him.
Needless to say, while Loghain would have pounded my ranger to a pulp toe-to-toe, he was no match for her at a distance :-).

Well also obviously, a Rogue shouldn't be able to beat a massive armored warrior in a straight up fight either.
I'm not criticizing, I'm just saying that it's moments like these that really lean on the whole "suspension of disbelief" concept. If you enjoyed yourself, that's good enough for me. Still, that doesn't mean that I don't personally find it silly (in an amusing sort of way).

Anyway, I had some trouble with Loghain! He was a difficult encounter. In the end I chose Leliana as my champion. She was specced Ranger, and...well, she ran in circles, darting through the nearby crowd of guards and onlookers, as Bear tore off Loghain's face. :x Not very honorable but it got the job done!

Eh, my dual wield rogue defeated Loghain (on Hard, at level 22) in about 10 seconds, without any interference from me other than to use dirty fighting to interrupt a shield bash. Took only minor damage.
