Bioware unleashed the ending on its fans like the Genophage. It's our reward, our curse. Now because of it we all been neutered of any future with the story or hope to see ever again the characters we have come to love and respect.

Afterwards I had no opinion towards it at first, it was just there. It was just beautiful at the beginning, with Anderson, TIM and the view onto earth. Then dramatic when the Crucible wasn't firing. Then... wtf. I was slightly confused at the star child buisness and chose the synthesis ending, because - a newly found middleground supposedly bridging the gap between synthetics and organics (which I never knew, needed bridging) was kinda somehow... interesting.
The music was really gripping though and a few nice scenes - but I was in a quite sleepy state of mind and not really thinking about it. And then thinking kicked in - a while and a sleep later - revealing some things that were... off. And never any feeling of "completeness" appeared.
And the ending grew worse, the more I thought about it - while Biowares intention now seemed to be the opposite.
So yes, I changed my mind. From the frustration that nothing seemed to fit to the opinion that the ending is really bad, in many ways.

Of course. When you finish you are hit by how bad it is on an emotional level. You need some time for it to hit you fully on a logical level. I thought the ending was bad when I finished the game and I think it's even worse now.
Same for me.
At first I thought wow this is bad, where is the closure and choices, why did I fail the mission etc...
Then over time you look into it more and it just continues to fall apart and just get worse.

This question is addressed to pro-enders and anti-enders alike. Has your opinion of the ending changed significantly since your initial playthrough? Did you hate it at first, but grew to like it? Or did you enjoy it at first, but realized later something was off? If so, what made you change your mind?
With the amount of suggestions and speculation some good, some bad, i dont think a revamped/remade/extended ending could satisfy me now. I'll gobble up as much character relations closure as i can get though.

There isn't a lot of good things I can say about the final mission arc either really. The character moments with your friends are good and some of the earlier cutscenes with the fleet are reasonable, but everything else there is somewhat lacking too. The plot holes quickly build up, choices quickly disapear and the depth of the game seems to dry up too. It's the start of the nose dive that ends in what to me is the worst video game ending I have ever seen.
So that's my opinion now. On first play through the emotional journey of the rest of the game (and series) kept my suspension of disbelief strong and made me more forgiving. I was still shocked by how bad the ending was, but in my head I tried my best to make sense of it and find something good there, but I couldn't. It was lacking something and I couldn't help but feel cheated out of how I should have felt after the ending of an epic trilogy.
Which I think is why this extended cut DLC is not going to proove enough. Had those changes been in at first play through it probably would have been. I was less critical then and really having proper closure on top of the previous emotional content may have been enough. But the shock factor of the current ending woke me up to all the many flaws, logic fails, plot holes and sudden inexplicable changes of tone and style. It made me considerably less forgiving.

This ending is the worst ending in the history of endings since humans first learned to tell stories and will always be so.
Hahahaha this sums up how I feel.
