The more I think about it, the worse it gets. Here's hoping time and paragon dialogue heals all wounds.

There is literally nothing Bioware could do to make any of you happy. It's impossible. They could give you the bro ending drinking with Garrus and little blue aliens and a few hundred of you would probably put up a billboard saying something stupid like "HAPPY ENDINGS IN MY MASS EFFECT? I DON'T THINK SO. SHEPARD DESERVES A DEAD ENDING. YOU'VE RUINED MY LIFE BIOWARE"

Yeah just like there was exactly this much outrage over the endings of ME1 and ME2.

Oh wait, there wasn't, so stop making nonsense excuses.

I largely waffle between sort of liking the endings and sort of disliking them. I thought that there were plenty of things that they did well, in terms of emotions and the overall themes of the endings (and the major philosophical differences between them). I just have issues with the weird plot-holes and lack of visual difference between the different cutscenes, beyond a somewhat silly color change. In any case, I fully expect to enjoy whatever additions are added in the Extended Cut.

OP actually yes, I have changed my mind about the *cough* ending, It's even worse. Everyday it spins closer to that plop, the inevitable flush into the septic tank.
Everyday I come up with more fuel to this debate, today was, how is this even a ME game, we all knew the ending in the first 2, this abomination hasn't ended yet, as far as I'm concerned.
Come to think of it, did we actually finish the game ...........or did some GLITCH prevent us from achieving the actual END? Software isn't perfect, y'know.

No, what is clear though is that Bioware could throw anything in your face and you would be happy. Holding something you like accountable to established standards is nothing new or wrong. It is your ilk that is the problem

...Well sure, because we all expected a happy ending with rainbows flying out of Harbinger's "cuttle-butt" and tiny bluebirds on Shepard's shoulder singing their happy tune. Because clearly that's what this has been about this WHOLE time. Nevermind the reservations many of us patient anti-ending folk have with regards to the narrative, that several have posted about in calm, rational detail; it's all about Garrus holding a kitten with sparkly eyes or a lack thereof.

Or they could've given us additional choices:  'Shepard and everything that moves dead' ending and  'Shepard alive bro ending, little blue babies, house in Rannoch' ending. This whole crapstorm would'nt have happened if we had those options.

*Looks at two provided options: One is to re-watch the end of ME3, the other is to hit myself in the head with a steel baseball bat repeatedly*

I choose the bat every time, atleast it keeps me from thinking about the (rushed/non-sensical/crappy) ending.

At first, I watched all three, with the knowledge that they were much-reviled. At first, I was all, what's the big deal?
Then I used a couple of brain cells to rub together and I realized the ending had NOTHING to do with EVERYTHING you chose throughout two entire games. Now, the more I watch it, the more indignant I become, and the more disgusted. I just wasn't paying attention the first time, for which I am duly contrite.

Nope. No. Nein.
The only thing that changed was that I went from confused/unhappy to angry back to unhappy again. Headcannon FTW!

At first, I was sort of "meh" about the whole thing, maybe because I was tired after a marathon session to finish. However, the more time passes, the more annoyed I get, partly because of how crappy the ending was, partly because BioWare continue to defend their "artistic vision."

No I still don't like the ending, because it just doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Nothing they say will change that until I see the clarification DLC which may or may not change my mind, or they go with the IT which makes a hell of a lot more sense and would please me a great deal. It seems pretty obvious that they may have accidentally left clues in the game when they scrapped the idea last year. I have a magic gun that never runs out of ammunition, that just doesn't make any sense. Not to mention the choices at the end really do seem like a test, if TIM could control Shepard with indoctrination how could Shepard possibly control the reapers himself when even TIM could not? That makes no sense either. Shepard explicitly tells TIM it's not possible.

As a whole the game is a masterpiece, I enjoyed it as much as ME1 until the last few minutes. What bothers me the most is that regardless of all the decisions you made as a paragon or renegade, all of those decisions are rendered mute and meaningless in the last few minutes of the game because you're forced with 3 options that are absolutely incomprehensible and wrecks everything that you accomplished from the beginning to the end. Based on all the lore, no relays means back to the stone age. It would take them decades if not longer to get to other systems and they wouldn't have the food or necessary fuel to do that. The Reapers wouldn't have even bothered building relays if galactic civilization could figure it out for themselves and get around the galaxy without them. Stating that they don't need the relays to get around now, will just take a bit longer to get from point A to point B is beyond absurdity.

A friend of mine didn't mind it at first, but now he hates it more than me!

As for me, the indoctrination theory has made me like the ending more (although maybe that doesn't count) and I'm starting to miss Garrus so much that I might start another series playthrough. Oh, Garrus, you scoundrel.

Actually it probably wouldnt be much different. It might have made it a little better to know those who have worked to do the best in the game might be rewarded, but the writing would still be god awful

Why would I?

To answer your question: Hell no.

It's still a piece of ****, and there is nothing 'art' about it.

Thought about it for quite a while. Read every pro-ending article I could find, and while some viewpoints softened my hatred of it, no, I still don't like it.

Nope and I wont until EC comes around and adds better closure to determine whether or not the ending is truly remarkable. I'm skeptical and very patient so I'll see.

I've accepted the endings. All I really want is a more coherent process.

Something to focus my 'speculation.' Something along the lines of this topic:
http://social.biowar...ndex/11156348/1

I don't want to widely and blindly speculate. I want a sense of direction to look so to speak. If Bioware can pull that off in the EC endings, then I'll be perfectly happy with them and accept it.

I see Vincent Van Gogh's work as pretty terrible, does that make him not an artist?

See how subject that sounds. Yes, to them this story made perfect sense and to them it was art. To us, it's bad because it makes little sense and I'm sure in some new IP this ending would of been just fine - it's bad for ME3.

I hated it, but now I've come to grudgingly accept it. If Bioware wanted the central theme to be synthetics vs. organics and the looming threat of the technological singularity, then so be it. I'm replaying the games and looking for hints of foreshadowing to this ultimate decision. The ending really did feel out of place when I first played it.

I just hope the ending DLC will actually clarify and provide more context and closure in a *satisfying* way.
