Then I've tried to think about it...
Well, now I am pretty much like everyone else.

In ME1, Sovereign was racing to the Citadel to activate it to bring in the Reaper legion. This was necessary because the keepers stopped responding to Reaper control and now only obeyed the Citadel.
In ME3, the Citadel IS the Reapers. This means that ME1 did not happen, because the Citadel self-activated and brought in the Reapers on schedule, long before the events of ME1.
Since ME1 did not happen, neither did ME2 or ME3. The Reapers had already invaded.
Ergo, if the ending is true, then the ending must be false. This is impossible.
Dream, hallucination, and indoctrination are the only answers. This leaves us with the question of which part of the series was illusion. The two choices are: the entire series, or only part. The part that creates the impossible paradox is the ending. Therefore, either everything before the Justin Beiber scene - in the entire series - never happened, or the ending never happened, or none of it ever happened.
Those are the only logical choices. The ending is only brilliant art if Indoctrination Theory is true.

I'm starting to accept it again. Funny, I'm actually liking the Catalyst also..maybe I need to re-watch the ending again.
I wouldn't be that upset with the Catalyst if it turned out to be Harbinger the whole time so then I'd know it was lying and I could defeat it once and for all.
Thats more of the B movie effect than anything else. You also need to be really drunk and with friends mocking the entire exchange. If you have two robots and a movie theatre please proceed to video tape said exchange.
I miss that show it sucked that it went off the air and it also sucks that the box sets are 60 bucks a peice

But overall? No. I still don't like it. It isn't what Mass Effect needed.

I understand what they were trying to do. But they did it in the laziest way possible.
Some thoughts:
1. If they HAD to have StarChild, he should have been a VI not some glowy hallucinogenic trip. Personally, I'd like to see him be changed into a corrupted Avina (bonus points if they can get some good dialogue for it voiced by the person that did SHODAN).
2. Take some advice from Deus Ex (the very first one with JC Denton). If I have only three choices, give me some objectives to complete to decide which choice I get; not a variation on "Pick a button".
3. The choices have to make sense in context of the universe.
4. Provide closure. If the reapers are destroyed, show my team triumphant. Show me the results of assembling the biggest fighting force in the history of the galaxy and show them kicking a**. If I don't have the EMS, show my forces being slaughtered. MAKE MY CHOICES MATTER!
5. Show what happened to my team. Even if it's just slides, I want to know if Tali built her home. I want to know if Ash and Shepard retired together. Did Sha'ira continue "consorting"? Did buddy on the Citadel ever get his refund? What about Blasto? Fish in the lake on the Presidium? Will Major Kirrahe ever deliver another "HOLD THE LINE" speech? Will Liara ever "Embrace Eternity" again?
6. Leave the Mass Relays alone. Or, if they have to be depowered, provide a DLC pack that entails Shepard finding some kind of lost knowledge on how to reignite them. Take me back to Thessia for it. I don't care what kind of trickery and hand waving is pulled, but don't leave the relays dead. It fundamentally changes the Mass Effect universe. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd like at least the hope that we'll get another game set in it, in the same time frame.
I'm holding out hope that the Extended Cut does this. Clarifying the ending isn't an issue to me because I don't care about the actual ending choices. I care about the legendary stupidity used to present those choices and the laziness showed in the cut scenes. The idea wasn't great, but it was serviceable. The execution sucked badly.
Off Topic Aside: The "Push your own Button" options at the end of DX:HR weren't great, but at least they fit into the game. I'd have preferred a "Dialogue Boss Battle" with Eliza to decide which ending I got though.

This question is addressed to pro-enders and anti-enders alike. Has your opinion of the ending changed significantly since your initial playthrough? Did you hate it at first, but grew to like it? Or did you enjoy it at first, but realized later something was off? If so, what made you change your mind?
My initial thoughts on the ending were something like this:
"Huh...that was...huh. I guess that was pretty good." I really WANTED to like it, because it's Mass Effect after all, and it was the end of the trilogy.
I chose Synthesis first. My brother said, "That ending sucked. I don't even know anything about Mass Effect and it still sucked." He then watched the other two endings on YouTube and reported that Destroy was the only worthwhile one. At that point, the stupor of having completed the game was lifting, and I became gradually aware that I had been duped. I woke up the next morning and realized what a complete and utter turd it was, and found out I was not alone (an understatement, I know).

But having had the time to look into it more fully, its a true disaster. Even basic analysis tears the ending to shreds, and the deeper you go, the more irreconcilable the details become.
Still want to be won over again

My opinion went from "dislike" to full on hate with Bioware's PR moves.

Consensus achieved.

I agree. Being openminded about what they're planning seems to be the best move now... I'm so tired of being angry and disappointed.Berty213 wrote...
Nope I still hate it, however I am VERY bord with fighting Bioware. I can't wait to the extended cut DLC comes out though, I may even learn to love the endings once the DLC comes out.
Somebody sprinkle some happy fairy magic space dust on me or something. STAT!
