Update: one more time I cleared the cache, and this time I noticed that it appeared like the loading bar didn't quite get 100% full as it loaded the patch. Maybe it was an incomplete download? I don't know what would cause that, just wanted to share a new observation.

Which Country/City are you in? Toronto, Canada
When you crash/lockup are you able to press the Xbox main button to bring up the dashboard? Originally no, after reinstall yes
When you crash/lockup are there any animations still playing/text scrolling/anything moving on the screen? Loading animation, 'checking downloadable content', pressing Y or LB/RB animates galaxy at war screen but I cannot access regular menu
If you unplug your ethernet cable are you able to continue into single player? Wireless
- Origin ID: shuteyes
- Gamertag: ShutEye
- Have you modified any files within the Xbox previous to the patch installation (SP or MP)? No
- Did you notice any odd behavior/flow when installing the patch? No
- What time did you start crashing? Thursday, immediately after installing patch
- Are you still crashing (please check right before you post)? Yes (to be accurate the game is frozen on the loading screen)

NOTES:
- I have the regular version of the game, From Ashes & Resurgence DLC. I've put 90% of my time with the game into multiplayer while waiting for the face import fix.
- When I first installed the patch it would freeze at 'checking EA Server'.I deleted and reinstalled all files. After reinstalling I was able to play single player once. Upon returning to main menu in game it froze at 'checking downloadable content' & has frozen since then.
- This is quite upsetting to me. I like Bioware products but between the face import problems and now this its beginning to make me question whether I should bother getting games in the future.

INTERESTING NOTE:

If I...
1. decline the patch pop-up at boot, then
2. attempt to connect to EA Servers from the main menu (having declined the patch pop-up), and
3. apply the patch from THAT (second) prompt instead,
4. the game progresses to the Origin account creation page,
5. Except it's now under a different Gamertag than the one I booted the game with (My wife's, who doesn't have an ME3 Save or Origin account).
6. So I then logout of that second Gamertag (wife's) and attempt to switch back to my own (the original),
7. the system locks up and becomes completely unresponsive.

This feels like a clue.

I have that exact same sequence on the xbox as well. The game will work on a brand new gamer tag but when I try to switch to my gamer tag that I always play ME3 on the game locks up immediately. Tried re-downloading my gt but to no avail.

can uh... PC be notified that our issue is being looked at too this would be great Bioware? I mean we've only been experiencing our issues for 20 days now...it'd be great to get a response when the Xbox Players get one in a week....

No.

- Did you notice any odd behavior/flow when installing the patch?

No.

- What time did you start crashing?

I'd say earlier today, saw it crashed so I decided to let my xbox cool off --- started again but it just doesn't work anymore.

- Are you still crashing (please check right before you post)?

Yes.

The game (single & multi) freeze every 1/2 hours. Ever. Sometimes i can play 4/5 hours without problems... the console works perfectly with others games, install disks don't works...

AFTER THE PATCH: the game freeze EVERY 2/5 min!!! Every times. I can't play... i load a save and a minute later: freeze.

But i found a solution: cancel the patch! I cancelled the cache, and now i play single player offline and it's work fine (freeze only every 2 hours)!

Guide Button:  Could use it and i exited the game.  I couldn't log back into multiplayer once the glitch happened without quitting the game and restarting.
Animations:  Yes they were still playing in the background until I hit the A button.
Ethernet:  I was on WiFi with a perfect signal.  Couldn't turn it off from the console without logging out of the game.

Gamertag: protognosis
Origin ID: the same I think...
Mods: No modded files whatsoever.
Instaling:  No issues instaling except the patch slowed down about halfway.  I had issues with the Resurgance pack not downloading right away and having issues with it.  I had to download three times because it kept quitting on me.
Crashing:  Last crash was ~2am Central on April 14, 2012.  Before that the game crashed in multiplayer at least once a day since installing patch and the singleplayer game froze up once.
Still Crashing:  I haven't since the last time.  But I've only played for a few hours.

Futher Information:  There seems to be an issue with downloads not starting when purchased from either the In-Game store or from the downloads section of the main menu.

CORRECTION: Just crashed. At 2:42 AM central. Screen is locked. Can't access guide button. Can't resume game by turning off WiFi and turning it back on. Game was in wave 10 on Firebaae Hydra.  The entire Xbox was froze.

Patch installed correctly with no file modification prior to instilation. Game reaches 'checking downloadable content' screen and freezes. prior to patch this would stay on the screen and selecting load would start the game. i could then quit and use the menu as normal. this is no longet the case. the only thing that works on the menu now is the bumper to cycle through the Galaxy at war/dlc screens.

New observation: Cleared cache and declined the patch so that I could turn the Auto Login back on. After the patch downloads with this setting on, the main menu completely freezes while trying to communicate to the EA servers, and unlike with this setting off, I can't bring up the Home Menu and the text in the background stops scrolling.

Edit: Ok, to clarify, when I allowed the patch to download after turning Auto Login back on, that was by pressing Y from the main menu. I cleared the cache yet again, and found that allowing the patch to download as I start the game (as it's intended to be patched, I am sure), I have no freezing issues. I REALLY dislike needing to be connected to the EA servers for the duration of my gameplay, but I can put up with it for now.

Part of me wonders if they are doing this so people can't get 100% GAW, and then turn off their connection to the EA servers to maintain 100% for as long as they like.

It would be nice to play ME3 again. I hope this problem is fixed by the time I finish my new ME1 & ME2 playthrough. Sad because my game worked fine before the patch and now I can't even play it. Very frustrating considering I payed $80 for the CE of the game. Please fix this as soon as possible.

The problem I had of losing connection whilst playing the multiplayer seems to have now resolved it's self since changing my internet connection, I was using the wireless connector on my xbox 360 and found it slow with my new bt broadband infinty, so bought a powerline ethernet adapter, and since then as mentioned all is well.

Still having to disconnect Ethernet cable while stuck on connecting to server and then reconnect, sign in and hopefully connect.

Very frustrating considering it's server side and doesn't require a patch to fix...

We're getting closer - Couple additional questions:

#1. Does switching connection method get you to connect to EA Servers (IE, if you're on wireless and you go wired does it work or viceversa)?

#2. If this does/doesn't work can you use speettest.net - ping the closest location to you and post the location used/upload speed/download speed?

You've all been great in assisting us with our investigation and we hope to have a solution ASAP!

 Good Evening,

My name is Tyrone Byrd and I'm still currently experiencing the server crashes.  Here's the information you've requested:

1. I reside in Acworth, GA
2. I'm still able to access the main Xbox dashboard by way of the xbox button.
3. All animcations, sound, text, etc. continue while the game attempts to access the server.
4. If I unplug my ethernet cord, I'm able to continue on the the single-player game. (without the access to multiplayer or online functionality of course)
5. Origin ID - Byrd1914
6. Gamertag - Byrd1914
7. I haven't modified any files related to Mass Effect 3.
8. The server issue occured after I downloaded the latest patch & Resurgence DLC pack.
9. The crash started immediately after I downloaded the patch/DLC.
10. I'm still currently experiencing the EA server crash.

Thanks for looking into this issue and making attempts to get it resolved.

Dear Sir,

My game still freezes period. The only thing that works is if I switch gamer tags. The game freezes on *start-up* right after the EA/Bioware omnitool screen. It got like this after downloading the 4mb patch. I understand some people have experienced this "Black Screen of Death" since launch. Am I SOL and should return the game?

#1. nope.  I am wired by default FYI
#2. I think you mean speedtest.net.  Your's redirects to kmart.com for some reason.:P  results:

11 MPS down/ 1.5mbps up (downspeed rounded down)
It doesn't state the IP of the closest ping location, but it was UofHouston

Switching wireless to wired still caused the hanging issue on connecting to EA servers

Ping location - London
Ping speed - 31ms
Upload speed - 0.66mbps
Download speed - 5.71mbps

Tonight the game seemed to hang in a different place. I had the checking downloadable content message stay on the screen. The main menu loaded behind this but I could not access any of the menu items. Oddly when this happens I am still able to push Y to connect to EA server and this is the only time that it then connects to the server but not being able to use the menu makes this connection pointless as I still cannot access any of the game. When the game loads and the checking downloadable content message does go away and the menu becomes accessible and I push Y to connect to server it doesn't connect and hangs on this message and I have to exit the game via the xbox home button.

Switching from wireless to wired conection had no effect. Game still unplayable. I was able to play using an alternate Gamertag with no problem. Used same disc, same system, same conection.

ping test results: location Ohio
Ping 74ms
Download 20.83 Mbps
Upload .99 Mbps
