"Connecting to EA Servers..."
Was endless, so I pressed the Xbox guide button & went back to the 360 main menu then reloaded the game. Connected to EA in a few seconds. Guess I'm lucky.

This is simply outrageous, I sold my Mass Effect today. The customer support is obviously not up to the role and I can't honestly pay the full (overpriced) price for a game only to be locked out of it a week later and not play it for a month plus. You can't ask someone to be patient after so long and have them miss so much, I haven't played a single second of the game since the dlc, and I'm not even going to start on the $20 spent on Premium Spectre packs.
I would be curious to know if anyone else has returned their game due to this issue.
If I hadn't gotten it sorted out for myself, and they hadn't resolved it by the time the EC is released, then I would have probably returned my copy as well.

But the thing that I dont undesrtand is, why no bioware or EA spokesman make any comment?

No
- Did you notice any odd behavior/flow when installing the patch?
No
- What time did you start crashing?
Immediately after downloading the patch when it was first made available and pressing Start to go to the main menu. Literally, it worked right before downloading and installing the patch and began feezing minutes later after have done so.
- Are you still crashing (please check right before you post)?
Yes
Which Country/City are you in?
Hendersonville, TN 37075
When you crash/lockup are you able to press the Xbox main button to bring up the dashboard?
Usually, no.
When you crash/lockup are there any animations still playing/text scrolling/anything moving on the screen?
The swirling icons for connecting to the servers are still moving.
If you unplug your ethernet cable are you able to continue into single player?
No, because it has locked the game or the console up entirely and will not respond even if the cable is unplugged. Unplugging the cable is a hassle as well since getting to it can cause jostling of the console which can damage a game, especially when it's actively spinning.
#1. Does switching connection method get you to connect to EA Servers (IE, if you're on wireless and you go wired does it work or viceversa)?
It is wired and I do not have an adapter. I'm certainly not purchasing one simply to test this.
#2. If this does/doesn't work can you use speettest.net - ping the closest location to you and post the location used/upload speed/download speed?

It's been a month. This has become ridiculous.

Workaround by Sonizero:
On the title screen where it gets stuck perpetually on the "Connecting to EA Servers" I unplugged the ethernet cable from the back of my XBOX. A message came up saying something along the lines of we cannot connect to the EA servers at this time. Selected OK. Started the single player game and plugged the ethernet cable back in. Once that loaded up I signed in to my XBOX Live account. Then went to the options screen and selected main menu. Once I returned to the main menu it automatically connected me to the EA Servers. This is the first time I've been able to successfully connect to the servers since I downloaded the patch some two weeks ago. After this worked I exited out to XBOX home and booted up the game again to see if I could successfully connect to the servers from the title screen but unfortunately it still gets stuck at the "Connecting to EA Servers" screen. It appears I will have to complete the process every time in order to get connected to the servers.

Yes, the 'unplug the cable' routine has gotten many folks connected since they botched the second patch. This thread is almost a month old and there is no update of note.
Are we just expected to play the game this way in perpetuity?

On the title screen where it gets stuck perpetually on the "Connecting to EA Servers" I unplugged the ethernet cable from the back of my XBOX. A message came up saying something along the lines of we cannot connect to the EA servers at this time. Selected OK. This time instead of loading up the single player I stayed on the title screen, plugged the ethernet cable back in,signed into XBOX Live, then pressed Y to log in to EA servers and it connected successfully. You can also simply press Y to connect to EA servers and this will prompt you to sign in to XBOX live (thanks to mrlogical for this). I've tested this method multiple times and it has worked every time so far. A slight hassle but I can deal with it for now.

I do get some signals that it is about to happen however which are:
- Squadmates begin moving into walls.
- I deal no damage
- I can't pick up ammo from ammo boxes
- Gamplay noise ie. explosions stop occuring
thanks in advance for at least trying.

Thanks for the tips folks. I'm really not that interested in playing until EC comes out, but I really don't like the hassle of the these fixes. Getting to my ethernet cable is not necessarily easy and I do not do it while a game is in the drive. Too easy to jostle the console and damage the disc. I still hope that Bioware fixes the problem their patch caused, but I'm not holding my breath. If not, I'll try the fix you all recommend for the EC then either retire the game or sell it. Or maybe burn it in effigy. I don't know!
Thanks again!
We might not see a working patch until they put the EC out.

We're getting closer - Couple additional questions:
#1. Does switching connection method get you to connect to EA Servers (IE, if you're on wireless and you go wired does it work or viceversa)?
No, I've tried both Wired and Wireless and both lockup.
#2. If this does/doesn't work can you use speettest.net - ping the closest location to you and post the location used/upload speed/download speed?
Omaha, NE, Ping 42ms, Upload - 2.15 Mbps, Download - 21.99 Mbps
You've all been great in assisting us with our investigation and we hope to have a solution ASAP!
*Update*
We have narrowed down this issue but are still looking for some answers from those encountering this issue. If you are still crashing please answer the following:
Which Country/City are you in?
Omaha, NE, USA
When you crash/lockup are you able to press the Xbox main button to bring up the dashboard?
No. Total Xbox system freeze/lockup.
When you crash/lockup are there any animations still playing/text scrolling/anything moving on the screen?
No. Total freeze.
If you unplug your ethernet cable are you able to continue into single player?
No, not as my primary gamer profile/Xbox Live Gamertag. I can sign out and launch the game, but it tells me that not signing in will mean that it can't save any games.

We are aware of the issues people are having when connecting to the EA Servers.
We are currently investigating this and if this issue is happening to you it would be greatly appreciated if you could post in this thread with the following information:
- Origin ID
echo311
- Gamertag
echo311
- Have you modified any files within the Xbox previous to the patch installation (SP or MP)?
Not sure what you mean by "Modified". I had played my saved games before AND after the patch, on both SP and MP, and only recently (Past 2 - 2 and a half weeks) had my system lockup.
- Did you notice any odd behavior/flow when installing the patch?
No, the patch seemed fine and was able to play both SP and MP after it.
- What time did you start crashing?
Don't know the exact date and time of the first crash, but it was about 2 - 2 and a half weeks ago. I did notice that I wasn't able to connect to MP servers at first, but thought this was a temp server issue and was still able to play SP. Then, nothing... can't even launch the game passed the Bioware animation.
- Are you still crashing (please check right before you post)?
Yep, tried repeatedly with EA support and nothing worked.
We are aware that some users are getting back in and we are monitoring this very carefully. If there is something you feel is relevant to our investigation that you encounter please post it.
Regards,
Thomas Abram
EA has my email and I'd be happy to provide it here too. I'd like to know what else I can try or do to help. Unless I only want to play SP without saving, or create a different profile/gamertag and have to start over with all of my unlocks (Neither of which are really appealing options), then my ME3 game is pretty much useless. So anything that can be done to resolve this (And hopefully make up for all the lost gameplay and weekend bonuses), would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Before I only got this error occasionally and it was almost never in the middle of a game. Another problem I've gotten about three times in a row is that the game completely freezes in the middle of a wave. I am beyond understanding why this is such a hard thing for EA to fix. Are they new to multiplayer? It is not my internet connection and other games work fine. It never signs me out of xbox live, just the EA Server.
It is also getting pretty old that I lose all my equipment I put on for that particular mission and get absolutely no points for anything. Why can't they fix this?????

-When you crash/lockup are you able to press the Xbox main button to bring up the dashboard?
Nope, I have to restart the console. The only thing that works is disc eject from the console itself but nothing changes on screen
-When you crash/lockup are there any animations still playing/text scrolling/anything moving on the screen?
Nope, black screen each time
-If you unplug your ethernet cable are you able to continue into single player?
Nope, the only way to get the game to work is to remove the hard drive

- Have you modified any files within the Xbox previous to the patch installation (SP or MP)?
Nope, but I tried deleting all of the DLC and system cache to get it to work (it didn't).
- Did you notice any odd behavior/flow when installing the patch?
Nope, in fact I had the patch installed for a while. Two days ago I started playing multiplayer. Soon after this happened I noticed it took longer and longer to connect to EA's servers and today the game won't pass the black screen before the start menu
- What time did you start crashing?
Last night (about 11pm EST on May 13)
- Are you still crashing (please check right before you post)?
Yep.

Futher EDIT: Yes, you have to do this each time. Haven't tried multiplayer yet, will do that next.
