Please disregard my previous post, fixed by clearing sysem cache then restarting,  declining update, turned on auto sign-in, restarted again then everything was fine, happy to score a vorcha soldier .

I am thinking this issue is affecting such a small population of the overall percentage of ME3 owners that we won't see any traction on this until after the EC is released. Hell, they may even work the patch into the EC download. If we don't hear anything after the EC is released though, I have to say they'll probably never really address it.

The problem just hit me after the update. My xbox live wouldn't work, no matter what I did, until I deleted the N7 warfare and rebellion downloads... I redid my routers, connections, all the basics, did troubleshooting, nothing worked. Did some googling and found forums about this problem where N7 warfare and rebellion have been the problem. Not sure how a ME3 expansion can crash my xbox live... But yeah... Apparently that was my problem.

Also, I did presume that my xbox live was just acting up and went on my xbox.com account and went through some forums there. I was either pointed to troubleshooting, the service center (everything that affected my xbox live account was working fine), or to me3 forums.

This could be a coincidence where the saved data somehow completely coincided with my xbox to router connection failing... But I don't put faith in coincidences.

Edit: Have yet to experience any problems after removing the N7 warfare download and redownloading Rebellion. The patch seems to have fixed some issues with connections as well. The communicating and loading seem to take longer, but I have yet to have any of the old connection problems I would experience from time to time, so I call it a win.

I don't know  if this helps fix the issue described, but I have found a way around the eternal communicating/ connecting to EA servers problem. After signing in and the communication loop starts(what appears to be the connection freezing up), press the center button on the controller, sign out and sign immediately back in without exiting this screen. Once you return to the Mass Effect 3 page your game options should then appear. Press the Y button on the controller to then connect to EA servers and you should then connect. I'm not sure why this works, but it has been the only thing that has gotten me in so that I can access the multiplayer functions of the game. I hope this helps some of you until there is a more permanent fix. Sincerely, W Rhett Lindsey

*Sounding like Professor Farnsworth from Futurama* Good news, everyone! Seems the new patch actually fixes the problem (at least for me)! So download it as it came out today and see if things are better for you guys.

Cool, a new patch that didn't fix my game still. I start up ME3, see the EA logo, then burning Earth, then Black Screen of Freeze. I decided to see if maybe deleting my DLC and clearing my cache, again, would help and I didn't. If the Extended Ending comes out and I still have this issue I will find my own way, or just sell the game and pretend it never came out.

Yes, I am able to access the dashboard when I lock up at the "Checking Downloadable Content"text. There is text scrolling at the part where you try to access EA servers telling me about my galactic readiness rate.
When I log off my WiFi, I am able to access SP mode. I had to remove the latest patch too to access SP.

No, I didn't modify any files prior to installing patch and downloading latest DLC.
There was no issues with the flow of installing the patch and/or DLC.
I've been having issues logging into EA servers on Thursday, 24th of May 12' until present time. I removed latest patch to loop around this issue so I can avoid the "Checking DLC" text that locks up the game and had to sign off xbox live. Problem is: Can't play MP.
Yes, I'm still crashing.

To all,

Until a couple of days ago, my mass effect 3 multiplayer experience was great. However ever since I downloaded the Rebellion Pack DLC, my online account, Fancyshikifan23, has been crashing, everytime I try to start up mass effect 3 :(. Not knowning what to do, I tried to play the disc without connecting to xbox live and it still freezes and crashes horribly. I cannot even get the Press Start screen.

I have already ruled out the Xbox hardware, because I can play Soul Calibur online, Modern Warfare Online, Sims 3 and etc.

I have never been in modding or cheating on xbox live and I have played many games straight up.

What really worries me now is that I can access the game with an offline account or another xbox live account (shikifan23) that is not registered with the EA servers.

Is it my EA online account at fault?
Is there a fix for this problem?

Can I still play Mass effect 3 at all?
Please note that I can play Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 with the Fancyshikifan23 account.

Please, I really need your help or advice because I have played Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and through to the endings of Mass Effect 3 and I thoroughly have enjoyed all games. I pray that I do not end up losing all the gaming progress that I had made ever since the first game.

Here is the information that I hope could contribute to some progress with the freezing/crashing issue:

EA account: Fancyshikifan23
N7 Rank: 2107
City: Auckland
Country: New Zealand
Game: Mass Effect 3 Collector's Edition

I eagerly await any news on this issue.

Thank you for your time.

Yours sincerely,

Fancyshikifan23

Thursday's update fixed the problem for myself. Just in time for a weekend of Rebellion DLC. EA actually contacted me to see if I was still having any problems and so far everything seems fine.

Same here. I'm not holding my breath waiting for an answer or at the very least acknowledgement either. BioWare simply does not care and EA support is useless since they no idea what you are referring to (had to send them to this thread).

I'd like to play the EC when it comes out if nothing else than for morbid curiosity on how they can make it worse. I am quickly growing more and more apathetic as time passes though.  I did enjoy yelling "Shockwave" too.

Ok, I finally am able to play. Here's what I did:

1. move saved game to cloud storage
2. clear cache
3. enter ME3 offline
4. change Origin signin to automatic
5. exit to dashboard
6. download rebellion dlc (note I had to re-download. the original download was corrupted)
7. clear cache
8. enter ME3 online
9. download update #3 when prompted
9. play both multiplayer & single player with a saved game. No issues so far. No menu freezes

after complaining to BBB I finally got someone from EA to contact me on an ongoing basis. they were helpful and understanding. Finally.

To ShutEye_PSX:

So if I follow your method, I can play ME3 again and will still have the vorcha and cerberus characters that I unlocked and the 3 new guns as well?

With people saying the patch fixed their issue, I turned off my Auto Login option to see if it would be fixed for me too. Nope. The only way I can play period is by being constantly connected to the EA servers at all time. Thanks for not fixing the issue!

Sounds like this update is a 50-50 chance of fixing the issue, still not acceptable.
