I have not used medium armor yet and not sure what is it good for?
Is it good for DW fighters who may sacrifice some STR in the build?
Is it good for Rogue's with STR build?
Does it impact skill efectiveness, attack speed or whatever to make it more suitable to some builds/classes than heavy armor?

What is it good for?

It should be obvious, but... it's for any warrior who wants to be able to use more activated abilities, and for any melee rogue that doesn't want to look like he's wearing a skirt.

People who don't want to put 42 points in strength.

I was kidding, there needs to be more granularity in the armor selection. Took big a jump from light -> medium.

You still might use it for a specific armor (such as Wade's, very nice -fatigue)

For longbow archers, that's about it.

Heavy armor on the other hand...

Why would a long bow archer prefer medium armor? Limited stat points or something else?

I guess it just isn't obvious to me...or I don't like assuming...

I can understand a melee rogue as you avoid having to spend too much on STR. Does medium armor (compared to light) have a negative impact on skill effectiveness, sneaking and so on (like in AD&D games)?

What about a fighter using medium armor to avoid stamina drain? I guess this would only work for DPS fighter but is it a workable trade-off between survivability and damage or does medium armor end up gimping fighter?

Bow users get a attack speed penalty for wearing heavy and massive before they get master archery talent. after master archery talent. the penalty for heavy is gone.

All dps warriors. They could wear heavy, but it will decrease the amount of abilities they can use, as well as increase their threat.

The increased threat is enough, in my setup, to make both the required healing and the chance of the dps dying increase significantly. This can ofc be bypassed by using a reduce hostility item, if you got for all your rogues and mages.

Occasionally the stats are better too.

Is also good for longbow archers???  Lol

Heavy armor is the same thing as medium armor only better for longbow archers with the mastery talent.  If you don't want to deal with fatigue costs you should probably be wearing light armor.

Personally, my ranger uses light armor because he and my mage almost never get attacked and he's almost never just on auto attack.  The only exception are bosses.

I was under the impression that the increased threat from armor was simply: No armor +0, Light Amor +5, all others +10, and applied only at the begining of combat.

I do not have the skills to check this for myself. It just seems that the battles become a lot more manageble when my tank exchanges medium for heavy and heavy for massive.
