Size depends on resolution. Higher resolutions mean smaller images, since you're fitting more information into each inch.

The way I do it is to set to the desired DPI first, then look at what Photoshop tells me the end picture will be.

At 300DPI, a widescreen 1920 x 1080 picture ends up at about 6.5 x 3.

It's generally best to create the original image really big, then go to image size in Photoshop, uncheck resample image, and set the resolution to higher. This will reduce the size while increasing the resolution quality.

If you've started with a large image with enough pixels in it, then that is painless for resizing while increasing image quality. If your starting image is too small... then you have problems.

Woot! I came in here to see if there was a specific time posted for the deadline....midnight! Awesome, I was so sure I wasn't gonna get my picture done in time and I'm running on fumes trying to finish it up. Midnight gives me a way better shot.

Your image comes out OK...

I put it into a PDF file so you can see how that particular size and resolution comes out at.

As you can see it's generally ok, but there's some blurring.

If you have Photoshop, you could fix that by going back into the original file, and setting the DPI first without having the resample image box checked. Right now your resolution is about 95. If you set it to something like 150, 200, or even 300 it will be sharper.

Try setting new DPI settings and looking at how that resizes the image in the image size in inches area. You will need to uncheck 'resample image' though. That's fairly important.
