Great idea!
Here is my letter:
Dear BioWare,
Born on Earth (where he rose from orphan to soldier to Hero of Elysium), John Shepard was a dedicated Alliance Infiltrator who did everything 'by the book.' Anything else - including his emotions - came second. But upon meeting Kaidan Alenko, Shepard experienced his first true emotional conflict. While he did acknowledge to himself that he was attracted to Lt. Alenko, he did not wish to risk his military career by breaking regulations regarding fraternization. So he looked to Kaidan as a good friend and someone who could watch his back as they pursued Saren across the galaxy. Shepard will be the first to admit that without Kaidan's help Saren would have emerged victorious.
When Shepard was presumed dead after the Collectors' attack on the Normandy one month later, Kaidan privately grieved for his brother-in-arms and likewise admitted to himself that his feelings for Shepard went beyond friendship. But like Shepard, Kaidan was an Alliance soldier first and foremost - affairs of the heart would get in the way, especially when the object of his affections was his commanding officer! Needless to say, the reunion on Horizon was awkward at best. While Kaidan was overjoyed to see Shepard again (letting his emotional guard down for a moment by embracing his commander), the sight of Shepard in Cerberus armor (and the fact that Shepard had not contacted him to let him know he was alive) hurt Kaidan deeply and threw aside any hope of a reconciliation. Shepard was hurt as well - there was nothing he could do or say to convince Kaidan that he was not 'working for the enemy'. But even though it all seemed over between them, Shepard pressed on, more determined than ever to destroy the Collectors' base.
And now, six months later, Shepard has again done the impossible. Traveling the galaxy to secure allies to combat the Reapers' invasion of earth, Shepard has managed peace between the Krogan and the Salarians, cured the genophage, and ended 300 years of conflict between the Quarians and the Geth. He also has won back his beloved Kaidan and each has promised the other that they will remain together for always.
...and that is why I am hoping that future Mass Effect 3 content can focus on the relationship between John Shepard and Kaidan Alenko. Their story is as vast and epic as the galaxy itself. To finally have them act on their feelings towards each other, only to have their life together cut short too soon is nothing less than heartbreaking. In their final conversation Shepard told Kaidan, "When this is over I'm gonna be waiting for you. You'd better show up." Kaidan responds with "Don't get me wrong. I'm gonna fight like hell for the chance to hold you again."
Give us that chance. Please.
Respectfully yours,
Rolando Castillo (MageTarot)
And here is my artwork submission. This was commissioned by me and was drawn by Irma "Aimo" Ahmed, who gave permission for it to be included in the LIA book. Enjoy!

Hmh, did I worded something wrong there cause I'm not exactly sure what you meant there.
If you think I was impatient, I wasn't.
Just kinda exited to see this done.
If you think I was doing something and waiting for new thing, just have to say I'm not very good artist plus lazy.
For letter, I may need someone for grammar check. Plus, wouldn't know how to write it non-generic.
Hmh, yeah.
That's how I decipher your post so... yeah.

Oh no, I didn't mean to be abrasive at all! Only that, there's not much to do on this thread until we get the book together, so I was thinking everyone could post what they have submitted on the thread- as a bit of a preview.

This is gonna be long as heck, but here it goes
START LETTER
My Mass Effect LI: Samara
To whom it may concern,
Jake Shepard is a Colonist his whole life was destroyed in raid on Mindoir. His reason for joining the Alliance was to prevent something like Mindoir happening again. He is also a Sole Survivor, his whole unit was killed on Akuze.
These events forged him into a Person/Soldier/Spectre who's only drive in life was trying to protect the galaxy the best he could.
Both Samara and Jake are broken individuals (they also both hide it very well and it doesn't show on the surface). Both had been forged by events outside their control. Both had been leading a life of a warrior and protector. Both had been more like a machine than a living being, it was always one mission after the next in service to their duty. Neither Samara or Jake had any intention of finding happiness or love.
They're very much alike and they both know it. It's no wonder that Jake developed feelings for Samara. For the first time he began to think of things he never had happiness, love, and even the possibility of a family. Suddenly he was faced with the thought and possibility of having a different life with Samara. It was life he very much wanted.
Samara in turn had also developed similar feelings for Jake. When they aired these feelings Samara told him she could see them having a life together. The airing of these feelings had overwhelmed Samara and she pushed him away. The tension between the two only grew the longer things went unspoken.
After the Alpha Relay incident Samara and Jake part ways with their feelings for each other being unresolved. The time they were apart and the impending Reaper invasion only made Jake's feelings for Samara and the life they could have together grow stronger. While locked down on Earth, his only regret was that he had waited for Samara to come to him, he waited for her to make the next move.
Each time their paths cross again they act like little more than an acquaintance, they don't even act like friends. When faced with the possibility of total annihilation by the Reapers, Samara is what's kept Jake Shepard going. Jake would have pulled out all the stops and at least tried to give it a shot with Samara because there may never be another tomorrow.
True love should never go unspoken, Jake Shepard would (and should be able to) take the chance and pursue Samara. Joker and EDI took their chance well they still could. Why must Samara and Shepard be the only ones unwilling to take their chance at love and happiness while they still can?
Sincerely Jacob, BSN name Gearseffect,
And yes, I named my Shepard after myself

consequences for the Galaxy.
In Mass Effect 2, Lara looked into the reaper signal quite
early on, before doing many of the loyalty missions. Kelly got kidnapped, and this
put Lara in an uncomfortable position: start the suicide mission early, or
leave Kelly to the collectors. Lara decided she couldn’t let Kelly die, and
attacked.
Many of the squad died in the mission. Tali was the first to
go, shot through the head as she tried to close a door. Thane died in a heroic,
individual holding action. Jack lost her life trying to hold a point. Garrus
got swept away by a bug swarm.
This would have dramatic consequences later on.
As the reapers attacked Earth, Lara tried to find her former
yeoman. She found her alive on the Citadel. Lara would make a point of visiting
the Citadel after every mission to spend time with Kelly.
After one such mission, Lara was shocked to hear Cerberus
had taken the Citadel. She landed and fought her way to find Kelly, worried all
the time. Fortunately, she had told Kelly to change her name, and Kelly was
safe. Lara and Kelly would enjoy a few more weeks of relative peace together
between missions.
Now the consequences of Lara’s hasty attack to save Kelly
started to become clear.
Without Tali to calm the Quarians, peace with the Geth was
impossible. The Quarians died as Shepard uploaded the reaper code to the Geth.
Kelly had helped her see that tolerance was the right action, and that the
Quarians were in the wrong. Similarly, this tolerance led Lara to cure the
Genophage. Mordin, who had saved Lara in the fight on the Collector Base, died.
The reapers took control of the Citadel after The Illusive
Man tipped them off. Shepard had no way of knowing what happened to Kelly. In
her mind, Kelly had finally died to the reapers and The Illusive Man. She told
everyone fighting on Earth to fight hard and seek revenge. Many soldiers died.
Shepard reached the Citadel after a fierce fight. She shot
The Illusive Man out of revenge, just like Cerberus had almost shot Kelly on
the Citadel. Then, faced with the choice to control, have synthesis, or
destroy, she chose destroy, intent on making the reapers pay for what they did
to Kelly.
There were no survivors of the Geth-Quarian war—Shepard’s
revenge had destroyed the geth at the last moment. EDI was killed, too, causing
the Normandy to crash.
Weeks later, Shepard found Kelly alive; the Citadel’s
kinetic barriers had allowed them both to survive after all. They had an
overwhelming, tearful reunion. But the galaxy was in ruins. Two entire races
were dead, and the relays were destroyed.
A tasteful, fitting, and moving end to a great saga. A great
example of how a ‘minor’ character can influence the plot in more ways than
expected.

Dear Bioware,
My paragade-oriented, male Sentinel Shepard was raised a Spacer, and became a Sole Survivor with the death of his unit on Akuze. He had seen things that would drive most normal men insane. He has committed atrocities in the name of a greater good.
On the chase after Saren, Shepard never would have thought he would be capable of feeling love for another person again, after the slaughter of his friends and comrades, and his former lover. Death changed all that. When he first gained consciousness at the Lazarus station, what he saw made him believe that perhaps miracles do exist. The first thing he took note of was a face. Not just any face. No, this face belonged to someone who would go on to infest Shepard's emotions and haunt his feelings. Miranda Lawson.
Of course, the 2 years and 12 days Shepard spent on the operating table, coupled with his already somewhat unstable psyche meant that trying for Miranda's affection would be difficult. He didn't mind it the least, he enjoyed the challenge. When she approached him, asking for help with her sister on Illium, Shepard knew that this was his chance, not only to do good for the galaxy, but to prove to Miranda that maybe he wasn't another one of those guys who saw her merely as a "hot body". His thoughts fluctuated. How could someone as perfect as she, fall for someone as broken as himself? Whatever the cause, Shepard played his cards. He was surprised when Miranda voiced her opposition to keeping the Collector Base, being the loyalist she was known to be.
Miranda saw herself as unworthy, only achieving greatness because of some gifts that she didn't earn, and were merely a burden to her. Shepard showed her otherwise. She could indeed take credit for her accomplishments, for everything she had done right in the galaxy. She had, after all, recreated him from scratch. To him, she was an equal. Someone he could talk to without fear of humiliation. Someone who could hold their own in a tense situation. Someone with whom he could spend the rest of his life with. In Shepard, Miranda found the same thing.
This is why I cannot fully accept the culmination of Miranda and Shepard's romance arc in Mass Effect 3. Shepard doesn't get the opportunity to tell Miranda the things he ought to be able to, nor Miranda to Shepard (Death scene notwithstanding). Shepard is never able to find the woman he loves after defeating the Reapers. He is unable to keep his promise.
I loved every part of Miranda's romance arc in Mass Effect 2, and I truly wish I could say the same for Mass Effect 3.
Sincerely yours,
o Ventus

Dear Bioware,
This is Shepard’s POV on her relationship (or lack-of) with James Vega from day one.
Vocal Entries by Azea Shepard. Topic: James Vega
Entry One: We left Earth today; despite how much they could have used us. It was a tough decision, but it had to be done. Not everybody understands that. Vega was livid, to say the least. He wanted to stay and fight. I understand that. I really do… But he’ll come around. I might have just met him, but I can tell he’ll be one hell of a soldier. We’ll see how things pan out when it comes to political debates. I have a feeling he’ll be a bit hot-headed when it comes to this.
Entry Four: Went to talk to James today, after talking to the Council. Tried to learn a little something about who’s fighting by my side. Gotta say, he’s a big flirt, but definitely a great fighter. Could have given me a run for my money during our match. I learned a lot during those couple of minutes. Listening to him, it was calming, but his story relatable. I wouldn’t have made any different decisions on his mission. They reflect in his actions, and I can tell they really affected him. He’s reckless, and I don’t know if I can have reckless on my team, but I have a feeling things will change soon enough… I think I like the nickname he gave me though… Lola, huh? Also, note to self: Try to make him blush more. It’s cute.
Entry Ten: Decided to take a break and grab a drink at Purgatory, talked to James. Told me I was seen in a different light to others. Glad I bought them a round, you know, loosened things up. Should thank Vega later for embarrassing me later though…
Entry Seventeen: Called Vega up to my cabin. Thought he sounded pretty serious, and was right. He was asked to join the N7 program… It doesn’t surprise me that he was. I’m glad he was taking it so seriously though. I’m glad that he decided to talk to me about it. It was a big decision, and the fact that he talked to me meant something to me. He doesn’t know if he’s ready for this responsibility, but all that I’ve seen and heard of him, he’s a great choice. His decisions would have been matched with mine. The conversation ended with flirting. I sort of wish that something had become of that. But every action has its place. Maybe another time…
Entry Nineteen: An N7 celebratory tattoo, eh? I’d love to see it when it’s finished. Maybe I’ll take up his offer on the tattoo. When I asked about him making good on all the flirting, he squirmed. It was cute, and I kind of wish he had an answer for that. I know it’s not supposed to happen, but… I wish it would. I don’t know where he stands on “us” right now, so I’ll just stick to flirting. One day, Shepard. One day.
Entry Twenty-Seven: This is my last entry before our final run against the reapers. James seems really uptight. It’ll drive him forward. Hopefully, it’ll keep him alive. It’d be good to know that we’ll all survive this. All I can think of is how the hell we’re gonna reach that beam. That, and Vega. I love you James. If we live through this, I’ll make sure to tell you after it’s all over. If we don’t, well, I don’t really want to think of that. *background chatter* I’ve got to go. *muffled movement* EDI, can you send a copy of these to my cabin? Thanks… *END OF ENTRIES*
After being loveless since the whole mess with the reapers has started, she found love in a soldier she could trust to make the right decisions. Like her in more ways than one, she had an attachment and unmatched feelings. James and Shepard should be allowed to have more of a romance than what is written here. As one of the deepest people she knows, Shepard didn’t have a choice. She loved him before she knew she had feelings for him. She just couldn’t express them in the time given.

Born into a naval family, Elizabeth Shepard's childhood consisted mostly of moving ship to ship. She had always admired her parents and looked forward to the day she would follow in their footsteps. When she turned 18, she enlisted in the Alliance and never looked back.
Shepard proved to be a model soldier and a natural leader. She always knew what was expected of her and never failed to meet the high expectations of her superiors. She had selflessly pushed her personal life aside long ago. Although, marriage and family never did quite hold interest for her. The battlefield was her home, and she wanted nothing more than to protect and serve. Everything else faded into the background.
However, that all changed the moment she met Thane Krios. As she stood watching the orange hue of the sunset dance along his silhouette, something inside her waned.
She was in no hurry to pursue her feelings. The battlefield was no place for love and with the reapers approaching she couldn't afford the distraction.
Nevertheless, despite her stubborn loyalty to duty, her feelings for him eventually overpowered the logic and she found herself spending every chance with him in life support.
He had been scarred by his past, which had made him cold and distant..But Shepard saw through his tough guy persona. Underneath, was a man with a passion for love and life; She'd become determined to prove it.
It took some time but he eventually returned her feelings. Although, with love came doubt.
Shepard had always known about his disease and what it inevitably meant for them. Already she'd lost so many. Could she stay with him, knowing that she would eventually lose him too?
Then he came to her, just before the suicide mission. Broken and unsure, astray from his usual calm and collected self. This side of him was something she'd never had the privilege of seeing until now. In that moment, she came to a decision.
She would love and care for him regardless of her fears. When the day came that he would draw his last breath, she would be right there beside him; gently guiding him into the next life.
She gave him purpose. He gave her strength. With it, Shepard was able to make it through the suicide mission-despite the odds.
Unfortunately, my Shepard's undying love for Thane could not spare him from the cruel, neglect he received in ME3. Despite this, I am extremely proud to have been part of the journey that led us here. It has been a privilege to know the incredible characters Bioware has given us over the years. However, I will never accept the way things ended between Thane and Shepard.
I feel their relationship was wholly disregarded and so were the fans. I can only hope that our voices are loud enough to reach you and we finally get the closure we need. None of us expected this would be easy, but we will continue to fight for better romances in ME3; even if we know the road ahead will be difficult. After all..."All things worth keeping are".

Here's my letter:
Dear Bioware,Marlon Shepard was Colonist, and a Survivor. He didn't see himself as any hero or any better than anyone else in the galaxy, he was just a soldier doing his duty and trying to make a difference in this ever torn world. He'd seen and experienced horrors most people hadn't even conceived of which still continue to haunt him and the thought of "could I have done better?" always remains inside his mind. During the hunt for Saren he yet again wondered if he was making the right decisions and was he good enough to stop this insane mastermind, when he found Liara. She made him feel as if he had done something right, he was making the right choices and he was making a difference, she gave him confidence. Marlon Shepard had only felt conflicted feelings of loneliness and pain for so long he had almost forgotten what it was like to really feel comforted and happy, which resulted in him continually coming down into Liara's quarters just to converse with her since she was the one he felt closest to.
Upon finding and saving Liara, he saw a seemingly innocent young women, she reminded Marlon of himself when he was younger and after talking with her he realized that Liara was different to most other people, like Marlon was. When the decision on who to save on Virmire was bestowed upon Marlon, he chose Ashley and left Kaiden to sacrifice himself, this left the man broken and hollow; burdened with the decision of leaving a friend and teammate to die. Marlon looked at himself and wondered yet again, am I good enough? Can I do this? Feeling this Marlon realized that he'd been hollow for a long time but never even took a close enough look at himself to realize it.
Marlon was hurting and being the kind of solitary man he was he didn't feel like doing anything but laying on his bed and thinking about Kaiden and what had just happened. This opened old wounds and all of his past concerns and memories hit him all at once crushing him, but one memory quelled all the pain and he went to get comfort from the only source he could. Just talking to Liara comforted him and she seemed to fill that void inside of him which he was now well aware of, this caused thoughts to shift away from the events of Virmire and onto Liara. When Liara came came clean about her feelings Marlon was happier than he’d ever been.
When Marlon woke up thanks to the Lazarus project he saw this as another chance at life and to save the galaxy, but also another chance to be with Liara. He couldn't stop thinking about her and when he was reunited with her on Illium he was in awe at how much she had changed, but relieved to find that she was still Liara at heart just, matured which impressed him.
After finding she was the one that recovered his body he was amazed but felt guilty over putting her through that pain, but was happy that she was that committed to him and she loved him so much that she couldn't let him go and would go to such lengths to just get a chance to bring him back. The new Liara was a bit of a badass while still being the respectful science and history nerd but he was more than okay with the change. Liara could hold her own in a fight, was strong and independent, smart and was always kind hearted which had always intrigued him. After helping Liara take down the Shadow Broker and reminiscing with her on the Normandy he saw a strong but compassionate women who would be with him through thick and thin, a women he could rely on, a women that he would love forever. When he was thinking about what was a stake, he thought about many people but Liara stood out the most, he couldn’t stop thinking about her.
On Earth just before the final push, Liara gave Marlon an emotional farewell; it worried him that he might not come back, that he might not see her again. He vowed that he would come back and that he would make sure that they would have those little blue children. But whatever happens he would always love her.Marlon Shepard and Liara lean on and support each other; they both have their faults but accept and love each other for who they are.
This is what made my game experience so much more personal and made the game feel so, alive. I didn't just play the game I lived the game and the romance made me love the game so much more. To me the romance was a major part of the game even though it didn't feel like it was treated like it was, it made the game that much more intriguing and enjoyable. I just wish that there were more interaction and conversations etc. between the player and their LI and also that they have a much bigger impact on the game. I loved every minute of the Shepard/Liara romance and it’s hard to pick a favourite moment but if I had to pick one it would have to be the farewell on Earth. But there was one thing I was looking forward to the most in ME3, seeing my Shepard with Liara and also the little blue children in the ending because to me, the romance and relationships with the characters was as much part of the game as the reapers.Yours sincerely, Marlon Johnston.

Dear Bioware,
my primary character Jacob Shepard fell for Ashley in the very first minute in the game. He saw a strong woman, still fighting although her squad was killed – Ash was the last survivor. Losing the 212th left a mark on her, one of many parts of her character. Her character, one of the deepest in Mass Effect 1, was challenging. My Shepard felt a bit offended by her comments towards aliens but when he learned more about Ashley's past, he understood. Ashley was no racist, but a woman distrusting everyone until they proved to be trustworthy.
Over the time in ME1, he explored more and more of her character. She loved poetry, spoke her mind freely and felt incredible tempting and flirty. Not knowing she also had feelings for him quite from the beginning, she felt challenging to him. I'm not sure if Ashley knew about her feelings that early – or if she was ready to allow them to unfold to a full blown love.
After getting grounded, Ashley supported Shepard and almost told him about her feelings. This was a risk since regulations didn't allow fraternization between a superior officer and a soldier in the same chain of command. Especially for Ashley it was difficult since her name was already tainted by her grandfather's surrender at the Battle of Shanxi in the First Contact War.
When they stole the Normandy SR1, Ashley felt it was the right moment to confess her love, knowing it wouldn't make a difference anymore.
Later Ashley told Shepard his death had broken her heart: unable to move on, she had to bury herself under a pile of work, had to do a lot of dangerous missions for the Alliance, ultimately leading her to Horizon two years later – only to forget. The short, but violent argument left two broken hearts: Shepard, who had hoped for a reunion and Ashley, who couldn't take the twisting ways of fate anymore – it felt as if the galaxy was playing a brutal game with the two lovers.
A while after the mission, Shepard received a letter from her: she apologized for what she had said on Horizon and wished the best for him.
And Jacob Shepard stayed faithful. Tali tried to get his attention and he nearly allowed her to become more than “just a friend”. But when he remembered the times he had with Ashley, he decided to not move on.
Before going through the Omega Four Relay, Shepard spent a moment with looking at Ashley's picture on his desk. He did a short prayer and hoped he would return to her. Everything he did so far, was done for Ashley.
After months of waiting on Earth, Shepard returned to the Normandy and met Ashley again. Their first mission led them to Mars, where she got critically injured by Eva Core. Jacob Shepard couldn't do anything to protect her – in this very moment he swore to do everything to keep Ashley out of harm.
The next weeks the two lovers had to go different paths: she was recovering on the Citadel, while Shepard was trying to get as much support as possible. Before they both reunited again, Shepard witnessed the deaths of two close friends: Mordin, who had sacrificed himself to save the Krogans and Thane who died after fighting Kai Leng.
When Ashley returned, Shepard had hoped they could continue their romance. But Ashley was silent, cold and distant. All those events had changed her ...
Ignoring the current endings, I'm not sure if Shepard and Ashley ever talked about a future together. There are so many questions still open: why is Ashley so focused on Cerberus? Does her grandfather have something to do with this? What did Ash in the past two years? And why is Ashley so cold in the second part of the game?

And here is my tl'dr preview of the Paragon Ivy SheparsxThane stuff:

Vancouver October 9, 2185
Thane,
It is with a heavy heart I write this in answer to your letter.
I have, as evident from this writing, already read the words you wish for me to see when you have departed for the sea.
I will face a trial soon on Earth, and I know this will part us for some time.
And therefore I cannot afford to lose any time we have left. I need tell you these words.
Before I met you I was lost.
The galaxy had seen two years before I was brought back from the dead. And very little was the same as it was two years ago. The crew I once had was scattered across the galaxy, unknowing of my fate.
But you gave me a path to walk on. You gave me hope.
You gave me a reason to keep fighting even when everything around me was chaos.
There is no danger I would not face as long as you are by my side, and no feat too great, as long as you believe in me. You call me your Siha, your protector, and I will fight with everything I am to protect you. It will be over my yet again dead body before I let anything happen to you.
It is through the bottom of my heart that I tell you that I could never let you go, there is no way even with my human memory, that I could forget you Thane.
Because I will always love you Thane with everything I am. Never doubt this.
If the worst shall happen to me when the Reapers arrive, then I want you to hold on, and keep living for as long as you can. Not only for Kolyat and for me, but most importantly for yourself.
You are worth more than you give yourself credit Thane, and you deserve to enjoy life.
If this is the only chance I get, then I want to tell you that I will meet you across the sea.
Ivy Shepard
P.S. There is something I want to give you if I’m no longer around to share it with you.
My apartment on Inta’Sei. You did want to see a desert right?

Audio Transcript of Commander Masha Shepard's Ship log.

So this is our Prothean?
A most valuable asset. Primitives huh? I'll show him primitive. Those damn Vorcha come to mind.
Like his humor though. The Asari finally learned how to write? Heh, gave me a chuckle that one.
Not to mention "They used to eat flies" if Liara had not been in the room I swear I'd have burst out laughing.
Normandy SR-2 March-15-2186
Javik is one hell of a pessimist. Not that I blame him.
The galaxy is full of bad things, even without the damn Reapers obliterating all organic life.
Normandy SR-2 March-17-2186
"He is correct, it was a delicacy in our cycle" Oh man, that was close...
The look on that smug STG member was priceless though.
And about my fish... I swear if my fish tank looks emptier tomorrow I know exactly who to blame...
Normandy SR-2 March-20-2186
Riding Thresher Maws? Damn, sounds like one hell of a ride to me. More interesting than the Mako or Hammerhead anyways.
Normandy SR-2 March-25-2186
Throw Legion out of the Airlock now where have I heard that line before? Heh, right Jacob. Well Javik isn't in charge here I am.
Normandy SR-2 April-01-2186
Staring contests eh? Count me in.
[Edit] How does he do that? Dammit that was a close call. But I won. Nobody defeats me.
Normandy SR-2 April-05-2186
Thessia has fallen. Understandably Liara is upset.
Both the loss of the Asari homeworld and the realization that the asari's advancement is due to Prothean technology hit her hard.
But Javik has a point. There is no time for tears now. The galaxy must fight, or it will fall to the Reapers.
Our loss must fuel our anger towards the Reapers. It's the only way we will defeat them, through tenacity and lot of firepower.
Damn, I'm glad Javik is on our side. This war needs soliders like him. Soliders not afraid of doing whatever necessary to complete their duty.Heh I guess we do have something other than Prothean Ciphers in common Javik.
Normandy SR-2 April-10-2186
Damn, Sanctuary was rough. Thinking about all those experiments... It's like the Collector ship all over again.
I suppose Javik should count himself lucky, he never got to see the true extent of what the Reapers did to them.
Normandy SR-2 April-20-2186
So this is it. The final push against the Reapers. It's about time we showed them what we...
Javik, what are you doing here?
Commander, I had hoped I'd be able to speak with you in priv...

Ulee Shepard and Thane Krios: Come Hell or Highwater
"Come on Ulee!! Gotta chug it!", chanted the eager crowd.
Ulee Shepard tried to hide the grimace dancing beneath her lips, as she raised a cheap mug of ale to her mouth. The drink was downed in mere seconds, but felt like it would resurface in less than that. After a few heavy pants, Ulee regained composure, and took the coin from the young thug on her right.
"I'm raisin' the stakes. If I get this in the mug, you have to drink not only the ale, but polish off the rest of this bourbon as well." Ulee holds up a flask, and proceeds to showcase it like she is selling a new food processor. With able fingers, and a deft flick of the wrist, she bounces the coin off the table and into the mug of ale.
Ulee knew this would be the last night she would see most of these people. She had signed up for the Alliance, and was heading out come morning. She grew up in an orphanage with most of them, and saw how their lives were heading as the years past by. Some had been to jail, others addicted to drugs and alcohol. And still others would never be seen or heard from again. That was not the life she wanted for herself. The Alliance made sense, and she had always dreamed of life beyond Earth. Now was that chance.
*****
When she first took command of the Normandy, Ulee understood the hard decisions that she would face in the coming months. Eden Prime had left it's mark. She defeated Saren and Sovereign, lost Chief Williams and Jenkins along the way, and made the hard call to abandon the Council. She hardened herself from her remaining squad, while still exhibiting her gregarious sense of humor. She thought this necessary to make those difficult decisions. When her body was expiring in the vacuum of space, her thoughts turned to those rough kids she grew up with.......most would now out live her.
*****
Ulee's second life, exposed her to a new way of thinking. Instead of stealing herself away from squadmates and crew, she decided to embrace them. One in particular drew her attention from their first introduction. Thane Krios; assassin, widower, father, and now friend and confidant, became her right hand. His sharp mind, trigger finger and useful biotics, secured him a spot on nearly all missions since joining her rag-tag team. So it wasn't terribly surprising after spending many visits to Life Support, that she began to fall for this spiritual, dry witted, sweet man; so foreign to her humaness, and unbelievably captivating. The thought of losing him to this suicidal mission or to the damnable disease he suffered from, was often more than she could bear. If Ulee had her say, and as stubborn and bullheaded as she could be, she would make sure he lived through this mission AND extend his life long enough to see a cure for his Kepral's. She was in love, and come Hell or highwater, she would spend the rest of her life with this man, this Drell, this one true love.......
*EDIT* for spacing....*grumble*

Dear Bioware,
My Shepard's name is Alice. That may not be important to a lot of people, in-game or out, but it's important to me, and it's important to her. The first time she met Liara, she laughed. What else could she do? It was just so ridiculous. As a race, the asari had always seemed so regal. Timeless. Almost ethereal. And there was Liara, the daughter of Benezia. Stuck.
It certainly colored her early impressions of Liara. She was very nearly dismissed as a damsel in distress, the sheltered princess who needed saving. But Liara stood for none of that. It was her tenacity, her desire to see things through, to approach any problem that changed Alice's mind. It was Liara's lack of any sort of verbal filter that endeared her to Alice. She spoke without any subtext. When she felt attraction to Alice, there was no parsing of words. "You intrigue me..." For someone who had spent so long dealing with people at arm's reach, dealing in abstractions, in concepts, being 'Shepard' to so many, Alice found comfort in Liara.
As their relationship bloomed, Alice came to find a sense of serenity in being with Liara. Growing up on the streets of LA, where at any time day or night you could turn around to find someone looking to stick a blade in you, Alice had to stay on her toes, and that meant becoming a light sleeper. Akuze was a different story. Thresher maws have no need to sneak. But as a result of it all, Alice rarely found a peaceful night's sleep. Being around Liara allowed Alice to let the rest of the universe slip away. When anger or fear or politics threatened to overwhelm her, she found her center in the one person who had been able to see her for her, to see past 'Shepard' and see Alice. She had never slept more peacefully than when she could wrap her arms around those blue shoulders.
As a player, hearing Liara audibly profess her love for Alice was... nice. But it only served to solidify everything that Liara's actions had told me for a very long time. So I can hardly imagine that night before the assault on the Cronos station was the first time they had exchanged those words. What was far more meaningful, to me and to Alice, was Liara talking about the future, about getting away from everything, leaving the rest of the galaxy behind and living their lives together in peace. Peace that neither of them had had the luxury of experiencing. It was, to that point, the unspoken future that they were both fighting for. The peace that they both knew they found in the other.
To not see that, to think that that future is not possible, that Alice hadn't earned her peace, that she will never be able to have a life with Liara, that she will never be able to create life with Liara is heartbreaking. I understand that sometimes in life things don't work out the way we want, but I would hope that the takeaway from Mass Effect isn't some bitter 'reality check' to remind people that the world is bleak and hard and cruel. If it were, love wouldn't have factored in to the games at all, romance and friendship and hope would have been stripped out, and I likely would have passed on the series. Liara and Alice made this series for me. That's why I don't have another Shepard, and that's why I'm going to remember this game.

I also included this fantastic piece by HumanGrotesque. It's not of my Alice, but it fit so perfectly with the sentiment of my letter that I couldn't not include it!
