I posted something in the Kaidan thread but it appears to have been overlooked. That thread gets speedy sometimes. Someone had asked about using one of my fanart pieces in this project and gave my ok for three in total. Thinking about what to write.

Yeah I saw you posted there, I did too but mine also got overlooked :-(

I am happy to see that I am not the only one wanting to write for Kaidan. I really think that he deserved more dialogues, there really wasn't much dialogue with him like there were with Liara and Garrus. After "the date" there wasn't a single line of dialogue all the way up until the love scene, he and Ashley didn't get much more than the me2 Li's imo.

I have several shepards (all with different LI) and i wondered if it would be possible to submit several letters? (not sure i'll have enough time to write for all my sheps, but i'd like to write a few)

@CptData: We are still accepting 'letters,' although the word letter doesn't exactly accurately describe what we're going for. More like a one page account of what made your Shepard's LI so alluring/ special to him/ her. Refer to Visii's awesome example on page 2 for more help. The cut off date is 25th, so we're still looking for lots of letters and artwork. And as for how many words are in one page, it really depends on what font and what font size you're working with. So I'd say as much as you can fit onto a one page Word document or whatever is the equivalent on a Mac computer.

@Lady Winde and Enigma1322: It's can be difficult combing through lots of character threads to find the wonderful content you want to submit as these threads tend to move fairly quickly. Can you please send in your submissions to MassEffectLIA@gmail.com. We set up this email to ensure that noone would be overlooked. It's much easier to sort and file submissions when they're all in one place. =p

@Afie We not only allow different letters for different Shepards/ LIs, we whole-heartedly approve of it! Every contribution really is very important, as each submission is like a step forward towards our goal of romance DLC. This is why we're trying so hard to raise awareness to this cause.

I had planned on making my letters kind of merge together into one longer one instead of several letters (one leading to the next, which leads to the third etc), but maybe you'd like them divided instead?

And lastly should we try and limit writing what we'd liked to see more of and focus on the things that we did like? I think Thane's romance is the easiest example; his romance is extremely unsatisfying in ME3, to put it mildly (what they did is downright laughable to be honest) and so should we add how we'd liked the romance to have been in ME3 in the letter, or just write what we liked about it in ME2?

We might be messing with the fonts and text size so it really varies. You can print preview the document to see how many pages it will turn out to be.

Here's an example of the kind of letter we're looking for. It should really be from the perspective of your Shepard, how they saw their LI, what brought them together, what qualities they had that Shep found appealing, etc:

My Jaine Shepard was a
colonist and "Ruthless". She had seen some terrible things, and done
some terrible things. She romanced Kaidan during the hunt for Saren, but
he was too "good" for her. To Jaine, he
had made one mistake by accident a long time ago, and she had made many
bad decisions on purpose, and just couldn't seem to let it go.


When Jaine woke up on the Lazarus station, she saw it as a chance to do
better and move forward without the iron fetters to her history. She
still had that hard edge, that tendency to lash out when diplomacy might
have suited better, but instead of beating herself up over it, she just
used to fuel her desire to be different. This was her new chance, she
wasn't doing to screw it up.

Seeing Kaidan on Horizon was,
difficult. She had "hardened" Garrus during their time on the SR1, so
meeting up with him wasn't so awkward. But Kaidan; he had changed and it
wasn't her fault. Worse, he blamed her for it, while she had no choice
in the matter. She'd been dragged back from death to do her damn job and
despite her determination to do better, she wasn't about to take the
blame and all the mental anguish that goes with it, for something she
didn't do. Jaine was done with Kaidan; his email was an insult and she
didn't respond.

When she met Thane, the half-harnessed beast
inside her, calmed. She couldn't get the image of his cool stare, his
body outlined by the red and orange light of dawn, out of her head. He
was very sure of himself, and his skills. The news of his death- she
swatted it away like an insect.

She was determined to get to
know him and quickly found herself developing feelings for the drell.
Jaine was the Butcher of Torfan, but she wasn't racist, and wasn't
concerned with his history; for a long time, she had considered the
military a means by which to murder many, only with ribbons of honor and
duty and patriotism tied to it. Jaine saw no difference between her
occupation and Thane's. She had no problem loving an alien, and seized
each day with a ferocious joy; to do what she'd been brought back to do,
to save people and stop the Reapers, and to spend every free moment she
could with Thane, the man that was her equal, that she couldn't push
around, the one that understood what it was like to do terrible things
that scarred the mind if not the soul.

This is why I can't
accept the culmination of Thane and Shepard's relationship in Mass
Effect 3. Shepard doesn't get to say the things she should have been
able to say; she doesn't get to tell Thane she loves him. She doesn't
get any opportunity to show some emotion at his deathbed; denial, tears,
anger. She doesn't get to express disbelief that nothing still can be
done for Thane, or demand why other treatment options aren't available. I
loved nearly everything about the Thane romance in ME2; I only wish I
could say the same for its' conclusion in ME3.

Trying to finish up my Ulee Shepard/Thane meet n' greet. Have to work a bit today, but hoping to turn it in tonight or tomorrow. And thank you Hisilome for reminding me about Easter (Greek Orthadox).....need to stop by my mother-in-law's. Husband is the Greek one, and HE forgot about Easter.....meh, him and his mother are not very traditional.....or particularly religious. Still, she does recognize the day......
