Remember, the blades apply a dot. I've held off large groups coming down corridors. Just sit against the wall, lean out and shoot blades, pump a couple shotgrun rounds into them, and then back into cover. The stagger works wonders. And that's with Blade Armor, with the level 6 reduction in cooldown penalty.
I found, at least on silver, the Batarians (both soldier and sentinel) entirely viable. Didn't get the top score, but I was 2nd or 3rd and contributed solidly. I also had the level 6 blades with the improved damage and dot rather than the explosion everyone's taking, and it worked well.
Yep they do, and that DoT is what mows down enemy packs like a lawnmower.
I held the entire corridor down at firebase white inside the building sitting at the lower stairs with the ammo pack taking on entire waves on my own.
the Stagger is what is best about it, nothing gets through.
Shoot --> stagger --> shoot --> dead.
Not dead? --> inferno grenade.
I only have the soldier and using the Dot's has been one of the best tactics ever,
I don't even get why people take the exploding blades, they are almost useless.

It's a different firing mechanic than most things in the game. If you get used to how it operates it's very reliable.
It's never failed on me once, already got used to using it + inferno grenade.
Highly reccomended
