How did the Alliance arrest a Spectre

Shepard blew up an entire system and killed over 300,000 Batarians. Understandable, yes, from our point of view but not everybody in the galaxy believed in the Reaper threat at that point either.
By turning himself into the Alliance so that they can keep him in the brig until a trial would keep everything at peace, and the Alliance itself is being responsible by keeping the peace by punishing one of it's own to satisfy the Batarians and the Council.
Just because he is a Spectre, that doesn't mean he can get away with anything. Ruthless deaths here and there? Sure. An entire system? Not likely, especially due to his reasoning.

Although I don't know why he was confined to Earth. They could have just kept him on a leash, or probation, or something. He should have been able to keep communication with his old crew members. It isn't like the Alliance could do anything, what with Shepard being a Spectre.

Part of me though thinks the game should have had two openings. If you where Paragon for ME1 and 2 you are in prison on Earth. if Renegade it would be funny if the game opened with being picked up by Alliance MPs in some seedy hole like Omega.(though it would have to be a different hive of scum since Cerberus took over Omega)

I imagine he turned himself in to the Alliance because he has friends in high places there that will ensure he is treated sympathetically. The same cannot be said of the Council until perhaps after the coup attempt in ME3, and even then the feelings of gratitude they express in the immediate aftermath of Udina's death may be temporary (if saving the council in ME1 was any indication).Sareth Cousland wrote...
I still think a spectre Shepard should have turned himself in to the Council, who could have mediated with the batarians, unlike the Alliance. The whole earth- and alliance-centric stuff in ME3 felt forced.

They introduced a canon shep who is in love with the Alliance who jumped for joy when the Alliance locked him up in a gilded cell.
Sadly this.
Where was the option to burn down Bahak and never look back?

It would have been great for a renegade xD
I had to rationalize that Anderson convinced my Shepard to turn herself in, since he's the only one she still listens to. I wouldn't have allowed the Alliance to take my ship so easily. Renegades really got the short end of the stick.
