 I went on ME3 yesterday, had to download a patch before I could play. After I was done downloading the patch, all of my saves were completely gone, all my settings were set on default, the only thing that was still there was my multiplayer progress. Now, every time I get on the game I am greeted as if it was the first time I'm playing, I get the message "Welcome to Mass Effect 3 please redeem your code! etc." and if I don't click continue the screen will show "Checking downloadable content" for eternity.

It's all really wierd, when I get on the main menu I cannot resume or load any games (they're all gone) and since all my settings always get reset to default I have to reset everything every time I get on the game. What is this? I just lost the 50 hours I've spent playing single player. I also cannot start a new save as the game returns to it's "welcome stage" every time I turn it on again.

This is really frustrating and is anyone else experiencing this?

Sorry if I ask but are your save files still on the Save Data folder or not?

Yes, all the saves are still in the Saved Data Utility, but none of them appear in-game after the patch.

It appears that this patch has caused more problems then it has solved; it has also permanently shut down many XBOX 360 users consoles as well.

Well this is actually a good thing: as long as the save files are there/intact you haven't lost anything.
The bad thing is that you will have to wait for another patch before going back to play as usual.

P.S.
I fear that deleting the Game data of ME3 won't help since these patches are mandatory and the game will demand you to install them every time, so you won't be able to start it.

Try delete the game data and boot the game up again while you're offline. When prompted to download the patch, press o to cancel and see if it recognises your saves.

If it does, try reinstalling the patch
