Thanks for the input, Brenon! Ignore people who have reading comprehension problems and think that attacking the game staff will solve their lack of game skill. Seriously, between patches and becoming apathetic to the matches, (yes when you win a lot, you actually start trying less), I think that's enough to avoid ridiculous conspiracy theories. Oh and if one more person compares this to WOW I may just have an ulcer.

Yes, single me out and make yourself look even more foolish.  All you know how to do is attack people...really dude?  I hope this all fills some hole in your life...what little of it there must be.  Toodles, hun!

You're both wrong. N7 means approximately dick.

Optional promotion means someone could be N7 ranked 20 and have all the weapons and experience they need to top the scoreboard in every gold match they enter for their chosen class. Not that scoreboards matter in a team game, but we need a baseline for comparison here and that just happens to fit the bill.

Excessive farming means someone could have an N7 in the thousands and never played anything but bronze and FBW geth.

Random item purchases mean someone with good luck and a low N7 rank could have everything they need to do well with a given class. Or, it means someone with bad luck could have very little.

Discussion over N7 rating is purely academic and arbitrary. Farming, and the ability to play endlessly on bronze which does not foster the skillset needed to prevail on gold or even silver, render any realistic assessment of skill based upon N7 rank unreliable at best.

Hint: It's because it's NOT actually any harder. These guys are just having a bad run and find it necessary to blame anyone and anything but themselves.

Are you trying to suggest there's some Bioware/EA conspiracy to secretly change the difficulty of the game, despite the fact that they have been completely open and forthcoming about all balance changes and bugs in sticky threads on this very forum? What reason would they have to lie?

No what im saying is that their trying to test the game live and every day, sometimes every game is a totally different experience difficulty wise as it was not before apr 3 when the patch came out and these posts all started coming up.

Lol. You so crazy.

Im retired from the marines for PTSD and Shoulder so actuallly your right lol. But not when it comes to gaming.

True, but i didnnot say quite that.
N7 rating of 54, mean you don't have the experience of someone with a N7 of say...600.
(No, thats not me, i'm not that high)
I'm saying it can help judge if thy will be helpful, or cannon fodder, depending on their weapon set.

And a n7 18 with a character lvl of 10, means you are NOT ready for a gold or silver match.

I was playing this morning and noticed that Cerberus seemed a LOT tougher because they seemed to go into spam mode. This was on Silver btw. We got mangled on Ghost when four Atlas turned up and while we were dealing with them we got Phantomed.

Then there was the Reapers... OMG mega spam mode. I think it must have been a bug/glitch because level 6 had like EIGHT BRUTES AND THREE BANSHEES... Never ever seen that before in Silver. Normally I end up extracting easily but today I was really having difficulties.

Maybe it's a combination of the nerf/buffs + patch bugs that is at fault but it really seems to randomise the difficulty by a lot. The reason I say this is because for several maps later the difficulty dropped down to normal again (still Silver difficulty) and instead a the huge spams it reverted back to normal levels of enemies.

But EIGHT Brutes on a single level was a bit OTT (this was on Giant so it was kind of funny). I did notice there was a lot of strange lag and "Connection" kept popping up from time to time, even though I was the host.

I find it virtually impossible to draw any conclusions with the kind of discussion that's been going on here. Some people are saying this game is too easy, even on gold; others too hard even on bronze. I'm skeptical of both.
I don't really "farm" much or use consistent teammates; plus I've been spending a lot of recent matches with the new maps, classes, and weapons. There are far too many variables for me to draw any conclusions, but it would be nice if everybody could just back off the personal attacks. I read this thread looking for information on developments in the game and feel like I need to take a shower after instead.

Eh only thing I've noticed is that Marauders seem to have gotten a lot more aggressive once they get within mid range.

Well i disagree i think it looks pretty easy as it is now, and no i don't have N7 weps or anything close still using a Phailanx III on Silver. I tried Silver for the first time today and to be honest it felt pretty easy. Did Firebase Hydra 3 times, 3 different enemies. Sure it was challenging but not to hard except for wave 11 which just kept spawning us banshees and brutes.

And once u've done silver, bronze looks like a walk in the park i can't imagine how it would feel if you can farm gold..

I haven't tried gold yet but when i actually get my Raptor Pack!!! (BIOWARE?!?) and it has a nice new heavy pistol in there maybe i'll give it a go.

I've also seen random spikes in difficulty recently. I would say that they may be a side-effect of the patch, but I've been seeing these spikes since early last week.

I did notice yesterday an influx of people playing gold runs without really having anything to do with gold difficulty. Seemed like a lot of bronze players started to play gold for unlocking spectre packs and thus the new classes, it was quite frustrating.

agreed....Firebase White is being spammed on gold...its annoying

Except, that experience to which you put may -- and very well can be -- illusory.

Your hypothetical N7 600 ranked player could have gotten that doing nothing but bronze and/or farming FBW geth, and not have the skillset needed to perform well in an actual game or worse, have developed a ton of bad habits. And, at least in my experience, a player who's fallen into the pit of bad playing habits is much worse than a simply inexperienced player because the latter is likely to pay attention and learn from experience whereas the former is unlikely to even realize they're doing something wrong.

And for that, as I said determining whether they will be helpful or not is unreliable at best. Weapon set is marginally better, but again is highly determinant upon the player's luck in reinforcement packs. A player with "bad" weapons may simply be the victim of bad luck, and otherwise know how to actually play. Hell, up until the other day when I finally got my phalanx to a useful level I was using avenger X on my engineers and adepts because it was the hardest-hitting weapon I had that afforded me 200% CDR. And, I'm not about to pack any of my inordinate number of sniper rifles on a power class.

Well, I did pack my valiant on my SE for my obligatory two bronze, one silver game to get him back up to fighting level. But then again, before level 10 there's not much to that class other than running around like an idiot spamming decoys and you're doing no one favors by carrying a small gun.

IMO it got a bit harder during operation raptor. Since then it feels like the bronze maps are empty of enemies. I think Reapers as enemies gotten harder as well. when I first started I don't remember them sending 2 brutes and banshee at same time on bronze. Maybe I was panicking to much to release it back then?? ?/

Too many variables because the variables keep getting changed, which causes inconsistencies on a day - to - day basis and sometimes a game - to - game basis.

You must be under the assumption that Brennan is actually Casey Hudson
and has complete authority, control over what he post's and there are no
repurcutions if he says anything that might sound negative towards BW, EA or its affiliates. That right now no one else in BW is even monitoring this forum or looking directly over his shoulder, possibly even reviewing moderators.

If our police force and our government have Internal Affairs im pretty sure a company does too. Their called managers.

I don't like this. If one wanted to play a harder difficulty why not just play gold? I can see making gold harder but I like being able to actually win rounds pretty consistently. Its fun to shoot and fight my enemies I don't need it to be really hard

That link was my thread BTW. A couple days prior to that thread I've been getting mauled on Bronze. And I swear there were no less than 4 phantoms in a single wave, and combat engineers were getting really crafty with the turrets, typically having 2-3 in a single room or area in Firebase White, again on Bronze. But I'd say around the 7th or 8th, the difficulty went back to what it was.

The mass of enemies certainly did seem intense, with my shields being completely drained whenever I pop my head out of cover to set up a Warp + Throw combo on FB:W on Gold. This would be with a Salarian Engineer using Decoy.

Also, IIRC, the Operation Raptor wasn't in effect for PS3, yet in the one odd Bronze game I did manage to finish against Geth, the xp reward was in the neighborhood of 200,000. That to me indicates that more enemies were indeed spawned, because even in a really good game with lots of snipers one-shotting everything with the Widow/Black Widow, the xp reward typically won't go above 150,000.

I don't believe anything was actually "buffed" so to speak. Just that enemies were MUCH more accurate and numerous. I suspect enemies can also headshot you, so that might explain why trash troopers are taking off a quarter of my barriers in one burst on my Krogan Battlemaster when I'm that close to them.

That's just playing as a bad Krogan Sentinel.

A Krogan Sentinel can take 3 Atlas rockets to the face on bronze and not even drop his shields.

I have just finished 2 matches on fbw against geth. First one was super easy with 2 deaths in total, but the next was harder with more deaths and it took us little more time.
The only difference between the two was usage of new character. In the second match we had asari justicar while the first one was with all old ones. Now that i am thinking about it, my friends and me were testing new characters all the time when we noticed increas in difficulty. And please don't say that we were not used to new characters and it was harder because of that. I am sure those two games didn't have same spawns.

I really can't see logic in all this and it is probably a coincidence, but a first match without new characters was easier than the rest of them.
