Sounds like someone doesn't understand video game development.

How many people, do you think, comprise the entire dev team? 5? 10? 50? 100? More?

Do you think that they could possibly run a large project alongside another couple smaller projects or another large project? I'd think so.

Look how long DA was in development- how many BW games came out in that time span?

Hmmm...

I remember the exact thread Patrick Weekes let that slip. I heard it on the day. Some1 was asking what the writers were getting up to after Mass Effect 2.

So will we need to make new characters or will it be using our current saves?

2 years of planned DLC =/= an expansion. It could be 2 more years of this nickel and dime DLC, adding more halfhour areas with OP equipment until DA:O2 has a release date.

WRITERS are working on Dragon Age 2. That doesn't mean they can't work on other projects. They can still be working on an expansion though I'd be surprised in this DLC Age.

I expect the sequel to take 2-3 years from now. Less if they don't update the engine a whole lot(à la Fallout 2, etc.)

I know I read somewhere that the Dragon Age lore writing started several years before development started, I thought I read it was being written for 5 years prior to the development of Dragon Age. In that 10 years, Bioware has made how many games?

Woot! Great news indeed! So DA:O is going well sales wise!

Well, I must say that if they are quick with the sequel (like a couple of years) I would not mind the lack of an expansion pack. DLC are more than enough to keep me interested in the game and the setting!

now they have made the first Dragon Age it should be easier to begin a Dragon age 2, mainly because they have a story to start from, plus they also have the Game engine, so they don´t have to start working on that subject :), but still 3 years to 5 is still fine, well its long but then again it well properly be as good or even better :)

This was to be expected given the success of the game so far. And just because its already started development now doesn't mean it's a lock to come out 2-3yrs from now. Just look at StarCraft 2, that has been in development for 6-7yrs now. I also remember an interview where Bioware said they wanted to revisit Jade Empire. So maybe expect Jade Empire 2 first and then Dragon Age 2.

I doubt it'll still be using the same engine. People are already ****ing about the game having crappy graphics now. How is it going to hold up 2+ yrs from now? Not well at all.

That's the one issue that needs to be looked at. The graphic of DAO is good or passable for now, but can you expect a blockbuster game like this to have the same graphics level a few years down the road and expect gamers to be happy about it? I think not.

The graphics don't bother me.  There's a reason the textures are blurry and not highly detailed - have you not seen the amount of enemies that can get onscreen at once?  Have you any idea how high the minimum reqs would be if they made everything HD in addition to this?  The final stretch alone brings many systems to their knees.  Having HD graphics in addition to that wouldn't allow for as many people to enjoy it.

But yes, I'm sure in two or three years, the expected minimum will go up, and as such so will the graphical quality.  Though if it's a great increase or not, I don't care.  Just optimize the damn thing so it's smooth as butter throughout.

Yeah, it doesn't surprise me that Bioware is already working on Dragon Age 2. If the first game was so successful, naturally they would want to get to work on the second one. :) I'm sure the second one will be just as good as the first, if not better, when it comes out.

You know...just because they're writing on a sequel doesn't necessarily mean that they will go on and create one. I mean those writes will have to work on *something*, do they not ?

They most likely just want to have the option to swiftly go ahead with work on the sequel *if* they should get the green light from EA.

...of course I hope we will get a DA2 too, but sales are not exactly stellar so far (though not bad, at least).

Facts in the entire thing are that at least three years ago, we were told that a trilogy was being planned then, so the sequel won't take anoither six years to finally complete its gestation!

But their writers they are probably working on the dialogue scripts for the character's.. Also probably getting ready for voice acting because that takes the longest to do.
