One of the main reasons this game feels rushed.

Made it 100 times worse by tying them to EMS and making them required rather than ignorable.

More proof that the game was rushed. Coming up with actual side quests requires time spent on writing dialogue, level designing/balancing, voice recording, AI placement/scripting, music, sound FX and probably a bunch of other production stuff.

Remember some of the ME1 and 2 side quests that involved visiting multiple planets as they were all related? The Geth/Rachni/Robotic factory quests? Remember the quests on the Citadel where players had some choice in how they turned out? Chorban/Jahleed, Schell the Gamber, Jenna and C-Sec, Bhatia's wife, the preaching Hanar all involved player influence.

Compare that to the lazy scan-the-planet-fetch-quests and the N7 re-purposed MP map missions. It's like a whole different dev team worked on ME3.
