I originally started out making a Krogan Soldier guide but the Soldier has been supplanted by the Vanguard so I decided to restart it all with a Vanguard. To be honest I am not sure if a guide is necessary for the Vanguard, all you do is charge and shoot, however there is still much debate to the optimal build so I will post my opinion here. I still do not believe that the optimal Krogan Vanguard should be a melee build because that sacrifices health and barrier, which is necessary for survival. Quite simply, you cannot melee a mob of 5 enemies depending on what they are. You can only melee at point blank whereas you can shoot from range or point blank.

My build is the following:

Barrier, Charge, Fitness, Krogan Battle Master maxed, nothing in Carnage. Charge: Area Charge, Weapon Synergy, and full barrier restoration. Barrier: 5% Reduction, Power Synergy, 30% CD bonus. Passive : Max Weight Capacity, Fitness: Max Health and Barrier

As I said I am not so sure if the Krogan Vanguard needs guide since he is popular, unlike the Soldier and people are less likely to complain about him. If people would like a detailed one I can still do it though. Cheers

This video shows just how strong the Krogan BM is, tanking rockets without downing the barrier.

I'll support a write up, even if it's because someone will inevitably ask. Good stuff man.

So all we have to do is charge, melee/shoot then charge again?

I just unlocked my Krogan battlemaster and I was wondered about the best tactics for this class.
Several friends of mine said they used the Krogam vanguard like a regular vanguard and they got swarmed by enemies and given the character's slowness they were killed.

I tried the Battlemaster a couple of times on bronze and I noticed he has three problems: Cerberus turrets, and Banshees. Imagine on Silver or Gold ( and I play silver regularly)
My other Krogans (Soldier and Sentinel) carry a sniper rifle so they can destroy turrets without exposing themselves. They have also grenades; very useful.

I'll finish to watch the video asap, in the meantime how do you deal with turrets and banshees?

I notice you using the Graal. What's your Graal's level / mods? Was there a reason for picking that particular weapon with the Krogan Vanguard, or do you suggest trying out other SGs?

.. Also, I notice the enemies are SHOOTING, but they aren't shooting AT YOU in a lot of places. What's up with that? Like at 6:25, there's a Rocket Trooper and a Prime who are both shooting UP at the entrance to the building on Firebase Giant, but you're not even close to that area. And I don't see anybody else getting kills on the list, and Krogan doesn't have any sort of decoy / drone power, so what are they aiming for..?

On Silver things should never be a problem in my experience. I play mostly on Gold. I just used the Krogan Vanguard in the video, it is Charge and Shoot but also be smart about it. Notice in the Reaper segment I specifically did not charge down at that mass of Marauders, Brute and Husks, that would have been stupid. You are powerful, not invincible.

I am a big advocate of the Graal and Graal only but many people like the GPS (it is easier to use than the Graal) but the Graal is better for me because of its range and spread.

How did you manage the "mid range" (when obviously you don't have to charge) or "long range" ( for example during hack objectives) fights.
For example I noticed in the video you resolved the Banshee's issue with Cobra missiles. I tend to not use Cobra so much since I'd run out of them quickly. Image IPB

Your match was more diffcult because you were alone, I'm aware of that.
You may say in a standard match you have your team but when you are one of the few, if not the only, squad member still active you have to rely on yourself and that was when my friends had problems with the Krogan vanguard.

I'll play with him again very soon. I'd really like the chracter and I want to play him.

Interesting. Would it work the same on other, smaller maps since you wouldn't have the room to manoeuver like that?

Graal is mid range and long range as well. I chose  to use rockets because I did not want it to take ten years, could be done but takes forever.

I think this may actually play more to my style of Vanguard than the Human I use now. Might do a lot of people good to learn to play the Krogan Vanguard before using Humans just so they'll learn when NOT to charge ;)

That's exaplain the cool down bonus.
Currently I have Graal IV, Geth Shotgun VII, Disciple II, Claymore IV and Katana X.
What do you suggest?

Does the weight capacity bonuses work properly for anyone? I took both weight reductions from the passive and it still has the exact same weight capacity as my Krogan Sentinel, which has neither of the weight capacity upgrades. Also, as many others have noticed, the rage melee damage increase is broken too.

Nice. I would like to have seen later wave techniques, also with no ammo mods.

How does this work on Ravagers? Can you kill them fast enough and keep them stun locked or do you have to ht and run?
