I have GPS IX. I'm wondering if it would be just as good a fit for my future Vanguard Krogan?

Lovely video. I started smiling when the 80's rock came up, great stuff. I wish I had Krogan Vanguard. Really enjoyed the Graal on Krogan soldier. Such a great weapon.

I've been playing a lot of krogan vanguard lately. My only Resurgence character, and my first krogan. I played vanguards on ME2 and ME3 SP, but I've also never touched gold, so my opinions might not matter at all to some of you. =)

I find that, at least on bronze and silver, spec into melee and sacrificing health/shields isn't going to hurt you too much. Survivability isn't the top priority in the lower levels like it seems in gold, and I've found that melee synergy and rage works really well (even accounting for the whole bug thing with the rage melee effect). I've been in games where I can spend the first 3 rounds not firing my shotgun at all.

In terms of working with the team, I like to take point and run forward defence during hack circle missions, taking out mobs and ravagers. It's the most effective use of the character. I also hardly ever take cover. Every moment I'm being shot at is a good opportunity for my teammates to take their shots/use powers. Again, I stress, these might be good ideas on bronze/silver but not necessarily on gold.

Banshees can be a little annoying. I spec'd into lvl3 carnage (something that I regret a little) and I think that a banshee is pretty much the only reason why I use it at all. Also, I'd only charge at brutes or banshees if there's warp or reave on them that I can detonate. Too dangerous otherwise.

As always, the most important thing about being a vanguard is to pick your targets well. You don't want to charge at a single cannibal if you can't see what's around the corner from it. It's not something that really needs to be taught; it's more a common-sense reaction to different situations, judging both the enemy's strength and your own confidence and skill. I think that this decision making skill, so to speak, is what really separates a good and effective vanguard from a poor and suicidal/dead one, at any difficulty level.

Just my two cents, feel free to ignore if you don't think it helps you. =)

What weapon mod are you using for your shotgun?
DMG + Ammo or Armor piercing?

Battlemaster has less weight capacity than either of the other two krogans, who are Berserkers

Nice. I would like to have seen later wave techniques, also with no ammo mods.

How does this work on Ravagers? Can you kill them fast enough and keep them stun locked or do you have to ht and run?

I play mostly Silver and you can simply charge in and deal with them up close. The Ravager itself wont do much if anything, even if another one is far away enough to shoot you on Silver you can tank a whole salvo and a properly timed charge makes you invincible for 1-2 hits anyway. Marauders and Cannibals wont ignore you of course so watch their support.

I'd like to watch the video but the GEMA has a stick the size of the Burj Khalifa up their ass.

Armor piercing doesn't work on Graal (or GPS). He's using Barrel and Extra clips.

I think this may actually play more to my style of Vanguard than the Human I use now. Might do a lot of people good to learn to play the Krogan Vanguard before using Humans just so they'll learn when NOT to charge ;)

Thats the wrong class for that. On silver,i dont even needed cover. Only enemies with a chance for instantkills could kill the vanguard.

So all we have to do is charge, melee/shoot then charge again?

I just unlocked my Krogan battlemaster and I was wondered about the best tactics for this class.
Several friends of mine said they used the Krogam vanguard like a regular vanguard and they got swarmed by enemies and given the character's slowness they were killed.

I tried the Battlemaster a couple of times on bronze and I noticed he has three problems: Cerberus turrets, and Banshees. Imagine on Silver or Gold ( and I play silver regularly)
My other Krogans (Soldier and Sentinel) carry a sniper rifle so they can destroy turrets without exposing themselves. They have also grenades; very useful.

I'll finish to watch the video asap, in the meantime how do you deal with turrets and banshees?

On Silver things should never be a problem in my experience. I play mostly on Gold. I just used the Krogan Vanguard in the video, it is Charge and Shoot but also be smart about it. Notice in the Reaper segment I specifically did not charge down at that mass of Marauders, Brute and Husks, that would have been stupid. You are powerful, not invincible.

How did you manage the "mid range" (when obviously you don't have to charge) or "long range" ( for example during hack objectives) fights.
For example I noticed in the video you resolved the Banshee's issue with Cobra missiles. I tend to not use Cobra so much since I'd run out of them quickly. Posted Image

Your match was more diffcult because you were alone, I'm aware of that.
You may say in a standard match you have your team but when you are one of the few, if not the only, squad member still active you have to rely on yourself and that was when my friends had problems with the Krogan vanguard.

I'll play with him again very soon. I'd really like the chracter and I want to play him.

Graal is mid range and long range as well. I chose  to use rockets because I did not want it to take ten years, could be done but takes forever.

I suppose your Graal is Level X or near... right?

X, yes.

That's exaplain the cool down bonus.
Currently I have Graal IV, Geth Shotgun VII, Disciple II, Claymore IV and Katana X.
What do you suggest?

Katana X

Power Damage. Consumable, whatever is available. I had in the vid Shotgun Rail Amp I and Disruptor, Incendiary as well as AP III. Power efficiency I as well.

I like it. Krogans can now actually play like Krogans now on Gold.

I played three matches on Silver.
I tried a very unusual weapon: Carnifex pistol with scope. Against Cerberus the Krogan Vanguard was amazing.
The pistol helped me to remove long range threats like turrets, soften targets etc.

I destroyed Atals with meele attacks. However the next match vs reapers on firebase Glacier was more.. problematic, as Mordin would say Posted Image

I played a level 18 Vanguard in a three players all Krogan team (it wasn't planned). Everything worked fine until wave 8.
When I was able to remove the Banshee barrier and reducing their armor bar the biotic charge, meele, charge was fine.
When we had to face the banshee at full strenght we suffered several instant deaths.

I know Firebase Glacier is somehow peculiar. I suppose the Krogan Vanguard needs of a weapon with a high "damage per second" value. it could have soften the enemies before charge.

Even with a 200% cool down bonus few times I have been unable to keep my Krogan invulnerable to banshee's attacks.
In larger maps the heavy pistol with scope was very useful but on smaller maps I suppose I'll have to focus on shotguns. However the only two low weight shotguns I have are the Katana X, that is not very useful on mid range and the Disciple. The others put my recharge bonus at +100/120%, if you add barrier cool down reduction I fear I could have trouble.

I had not problems with finding proper tactics for Geth Infiltrator and Batarian Soldier, for example, but I cannot find my personal play style with the Krogan Battlemaster and I really like that character. He is one of my favorite.
Maybe tomorrow I'll find some inapiration... today I hadn't Posted Image

cool, I just got the krogan vanguard. But was curious if I could make it a melee krogan vanguard by respecing charge out and being more like a krogan sentinal? using barrier and carnege instead

Yes. Definitely will make one. I need to continue testing it but it is great fun, in particular the melee heavy build. With any luck might have a video up by Sunday or so and a fairly detailed guide.

In theory you could do that but it would no longer be Vanguard, more like a Soldier.

Seems the biggest thing between the BM and the other Krogans is being able to fully restore shields and not getting stunlocked to death by every damn weapon in the Geth's arsenal. The other Krogans could tank rockets when specced for max durability, but then they have to sit there and take more shots for free because of the obnoxious stun effect.

In your video you charge, move back, shoot then charge. You don't melee/heavy meele. That's maybe why I had troubles with Banshees. I'll try this tactic. Nice video.

Just for the records: it seems on Xbox, my experience, the Krogan vanguard is even slower.

Listen to the audio commentary in the link, I talk about how unviable melee is.

How did you manage to not get one shotted by charging those banshees constantly?!
