This is retarded...
Can you report thx to the bbb because you didn't like a sound the made? Or Pixar because you didn't like the graphics? Or ilm? How about Disney because they changed Mickey mouses look? How Steven Spielberg because you didnt like his movie?
This thread and the report to bbb is so retarded I can't think of the proper words.

Here is the difference, everything you mentioned are pointless and idiotic complaints. False advertising is not. Plus, this is a blog statement by a BBB employee; it is not an official statement. Maybe you can't think of the proper words because you haven't properly informed yourself.

The "anUninformedMind" username must have already been taken an so he went with "wolfstanus."

Its also not as catchy Image IPB

Its a 16th century sir name

If a director says a movie will be better than "enter movie name" and it's a very bad one. Are you going to report him for the false advertising he ended up making through interviews ryc?

I seem to remember my past deductions affecting my game. Even I'df not as extensive as the last games. But harming bioware further and demanding more than100+ dollars in law suits etc I'm sorry but I don't support things I view as stupid.

I understood the story I filled in the blanks from remembering what me1-2 had and using what I knew from reading the books.

Depends on whether or not they falsely advertised the sound or graphics,  like EA did with ME3.

Unless you'd care to post a link to your data showing it's possible to get the optimal ending in SP only?  Be warned,  I'll respond to a link with the datamined files that shows it's impossible.

From there we can start in on the endings,  which are just as easily demonstrated as not matching what was stated.

None of this would matter if the Gaming Journalist industry reviewed games and not advertisers,  but sadly,  that's what they do.

To be fair, EA has been catching a lot of flak recently for how they've been running their show. A lot of their games have Day One DLC (which has been argued damn near every time it shows up) and Online Passes and recently people have argued they've been running series into the ground (DA2, some feel Battlefield soon, and recently, ME3).

Mass Effect isn't the sole reason, but it was the final straw for a lot of people.

i wonder...is it a deliberate destruction of games developers or simply bad decision makers ?

we all know in every office theres one or two morons who make the wrong decisions, and then force those decisions through because of arrogance over sensibility.

Some people are so stupid, false advertising is simple. If they say one thing, and it didn't happen, its false advertising. Saying there is 16 endings and there only are 3, is cut and dry, black and white.

That is still cut and dry, there are 5 variations maximum at the moment. The three different colors, the breath at the end, and big ben getting blown up. Thats 11 less than 16. Very black and white.

An argument can be made of there being more than just 3 endings, but that would be one of those arguments where you use "technically" while doing the quote finger wiggle thing a lot. If BioWare actually thinks that using a majority of the resource over again and just changing the color is "wildly different endings", then they are out of touch.

What they did by insinuating the endings are vastly different is basically re-wrap up a Christmas present and send it back to the original person next Christmas. What is funny is they are like "What?....you don't like it? It is from your feedback."

EDIT...
doh! sorry, this thread is about complaining to the BBB. I want to go on record as being opposed to that kind of thing. I think voicing our disatisfaction in the forums or in blogs is OK but suing or complaing to the BBB or FTC is just over the top.

I see what you are saying, and half agree.

what i mean is if they simply added "possible" to any statement, then that alone could be seen as an "out" for any false ad claim.

not pro false ad...just thinking how these problems can be sidetracked by the spurious use of "possible"

actually i am as sick of game hype and pre release lying as the next guy/gal.

Actually, it all depends on context...  if it was in the context of "we have 16 possible endings in mind", that would be an out.  In the context of "16 possible endings for you to achieve", then yeah.  Context is important for any statement.  Technically, context is what really shot BioWare in the foot here.  They gave so much various examples and context to their statements.  Some of the statements alone?  Easily gotten away with.  Combined with other statements?  Not so much.

Bad decision makers.

EA's primary goal is to generate revenue,  in order to increase stock prices,  and make shareholders happy.  EA's buisness people apparently consider gamers mindless fools,  and figure they can push "New revenue initiatives" out there without people protesting.  Hence,  Project $10 in order to get people to give EA an extra $10 on most purchases,  which is done through Day 1 DLC.

Day 1 DLC is likely identified early in development as core gameplay that is sufficiently isolated that it can be excised,  but sufficiently interesting that it can get people to pay extra.

Then there's Online Pass,  which is EA's counter to the used game market,  it's whole purpose is to make people who buy used pay them.  If permitted to go unchecked,  it won't be long before it goes the way of Day 1 DLC.

Project $10 was originally what we saw with DAO and ME2,  content a new game buyer got free,  but a used game buyer had to pay for.  It didn't take long for some buisness person to say "Hey,  let's make everyone pay for it!".

Which gave us Dead Space 2 and ME3.

If ME3 hadn't been the massive backlash it was,  likely sometime in the next year,  MP would've been implemented as an impediment in all single player games,  and Online Pass would've been a $10 fee regardless of whether or not you bought new,  like Project $10 did.

Then we'd get EA defenses like "The servers cost money for the MP!" while neglecting to mention that they're forcing us to use it whether or not we wanted it.  Which I fully expect to happen with SimCity 5.
