well thts not so bad...now if we can just get a country with spaceflight capabilities to commit to a manned mars mision then we will really be set.

Did ya'll READ the article with it?  Or did you just skim?  Did you read the part about the resolution of the camera taking the image?  Do you all remember the "face" on Mars that, at higher resolution, turns out to be precisely nothing but craggy rock? 

It is "legit", and it is even "legit" to call it a "monolith" given he specific definition of the term but to go past that to conclude it is tall, nicely squared, unnatural is way beyond the actual data.

-Any species capable of FTL will have little to no reason to pay attention to our pityfull existance. We at most qualify as labrats. If you can achieve FTL you can harvest any resource you need from any nearby planet or asteroid. What the hell is so special about a carbon based bipedal race more industrious in ways to kill eachother than we are interested in knowing the universe. We are more like the Krogan than we are like the Turians.

If I were an alien speicies I dont think I could come up with any valid reason to contact earth. Especially since the mere concept of "Aliens" will cause massive cultural and religious shifts in the socio-regionall tectonic plates that have caused so much friction in history allready.

Or Rachni, Thresher Maws, Geth, Yahg, or Vorcha.
