Why didn't BioWare have surveys about game's ending through game itself...?

Just got me wondering, why BioWare didn't have an in-game survey (post Mass Effect 3 release) using our EA accounts or one through Xbox Live, Playstation Network, and/or Origin to determine the fan reaction to the ending?

Because they would have to accept the results as truth.

because artistic integrity that's why.

They've already deluded themselves into thinking it's artistic.

Well you could even gauge the audiences interest in the general game as well like who plays it for Singleplayer who plays it for Multiplayer and who plays both. It probably give them good insight into their fanbase as a whole.

Why would they put in a survey, which I don't think anyone has done for a game, in for a games ending which they seem to love. If they truly love it, I don't see how they can, they won't give a flying **** what a survey says.

Edit: it would be a nice way to see how many people dislike the ending though, I'm curious about what the percentages would be.

I've wondered this also. I think the reason they haven't is because they already know the answer. Likely inferred from the passive game stats they monitor for number of times won, play time, etc. they probably already had trend lines plotted for each category based on ME1 and ME2's historical data. So they should be able to tell if people dropped the SP portion of the game sooner than predicted, etc.

Or the company's just become borderline incompetent and/or has gotten arrogant...

Well they could even see where DLC interest is in lets say throw out some characters they had thought about expanding on and see how many fans are intersested in say Aria mission taking back Omega or mission on Dekunna. Seeing old planets from previous games like Illium, Feros or have another (better) Noveria mission.

I've only seen surveys for MMOs, never a SP game even if it has MP.

because they had no reason to think it was anything other than good.

With as controversial and all the media attention the ending has attained. Would it be that far-fetched or out of the question, I mean they give us a news feed and force us to use the EA servers for everything else. I don't see it being that difficult to implement.

One reason is that, generally, we have our own ideas about how to design games and stories and don't design them by committee in collaboration with the players. That's not really how the developer-player relationship works.

Asking about Test-Screening would make a lot more sense

It don't think the OP was necessarily implying that it should have been a vote. This would have been a quantitive version of asking for our opinions... which is what you did.

Edit: Although I don't see the point in doing it in-game or whatever. That just implies to new players who might like the ending that something is wrong.

Well then why ask for player feedback at all? Why makes statements that literally state we created something with you.

Then make other statements like, we didn't know there was a demand for it.

If you tell give me feedback on what we can do better, the people giving you that feedback will generally believe that you will take that into consideration. Unless your just asking to make them feel important,

Is anyone else thankful for kickstarter?

What, a survey?

Like they care. Bioware is stubborn.

Yes, but some people interpret "please give us feedback"n as "tell us what to do and we'll for sure do it." Some people believe "I disagree with what you did" is shorthand for "you have to fix things to my specification." And some believe "I suggest this" to be the same as "AGREE WITH ME BECAUSE I'M RIGHT!" This is where discussions start to break down and why so many unproductive arguments happen in the community.

One reason why the questionnaire wouldn't be so accurate is because not all people have an internet. So determining the "true" reaction with that would be as debatable by everyone as any other poll.

What, paying money for a promise that they will begin to develop a game, which will take a few years, and may or may not live up to expectations? Not really.
