In another thread there was a suggestion of having everyone's favorite reporter Khalisah on Normandy and letting her see the true face of your Shepard. I think it would be a good way to tie back to the other games and more than just her few lines of conversation.

My thanks to John Epler.  You're a stand-up guy.

Agreed! These forums would be unbearable without the moderators. They have a tough job, and as far as I can see, they do it really well.

Hating a woman who licks PSPs to be famous and looks like Snookie is not sexism it's just opinion. Then again I see her as a spec not even really worth brushing off my shoulder. I didn't even know who she was hell I barely remembered the reporters name. She was just kinda there. She hit on Shepard I vomited a little and moved on with my life.

I don't mind her having a role, I just wish she effected the game more then war assets. Ergh. Numbers are boring, I wanted a news story to cause a cinematic later on in the story or something like that.

Because when asked, after having made a mistake, they should have just said "We don't know". That would have gone over so well with the already infuriated fans.

Heck she might die in a DLC for all we know, maybe she died trying to cover the reapers invasion of the citadel? A video documentary about the last days of the citadel, professional to the last?

Trolls don't get a pass for employing misogyny because they're trolls.  FYI.

You totally missed the point.

His name is The Spamming Troll. You should expect him to say that kind of crap.

I never said it was right or that he had a free pass. I pointed out that he was a troll. That spams.

I do not care for Diana Allers. The romance felt, at best, akin to a one-night stand. Her dialogue outside of that wasn't particularly interesting or thought-provoking; it was an interview with Khalisa without the renegade interrupts. It felt like a DLC character plugged into the software, unnecessarily. The good news is, she's completely optional. That's the only relief with diana, it's not shoved down the player's throat. Not really much else to say on that note, besides the need for a serious breast reduction. Stat.

Jessica Chobot is not a professional actress and sticks out like a sore thumb amongst the best voice actors in the business. I find her performance jarring. This type of cheap stunt casting used to be beneath BioWare. Felicia Day I loved because she can act and has The Guild and plenty of TV shows under her belt.

There's a marked difference, though, between insults which are used to demean and degrade women, specifically, and insults that can be generally applied to anyone. There's a lot of historical and societal context that's highly important for making this distinction.

Not to mention that misogyny is still a significant problem in society, whereas misandry is technically a thing, but not to anywhere close to the same degree. And now we've gone political, so I'll end by saying - avoid insulting the person and you should be fine.

I have nothing against the woman, but I do think that there were better options for a reporter on Normandy, Wong or Khalisah would have fitted into the story better. I also didn't like that they killed off Wong on Twitter.

I also don't like the connections to IGN but certainly the sexists comments are out of line.

+1

It's rather jarring hearing her in the game, using her 'Daily Fix' tone of voice (I really hope she doesn't talk like that in real life). I would have much preferred Emily Wong, but alas, Bioware murdered her with Twitter for the sake of unwanted fan service.

My new multiplayer goal is to promote enough classes that I can safely play the single player game without ever letting her on my ship again. That is, if the EC fixes the ending to the point I'm even willing to play the single player again.

If it was done entirely for fan service, that's a shame. Emily was kinda cute. I think one promoted character gives you roughly the same amount of assets as Allers does. Unless you're also counting the bonuses you get from the interviews, in that case I can't say for certain how many you would need. I don't know exactly how many assets those bonuses grant you.

50 I think. What I can't understand is why they would skimp on the character model and have her face melt if it was for fan service. And to give her such a limited role at that, if you're going to do it, do it right. More content, better character model, more interaction, give me some backstory damnit.

For some unknown reason Jessica's name, in my head, sounds as Jessica Wombat not Chobott.

Say what?
Opinions can be sexist.  I don't know where you got the idea they couldn't be.

For example, your opinion is sexist because your hatred is based on a woman being sexy (?) with a piece of electronic equipment, and for looking like another woman you don't find attractive.

God, why am I even bothering...

People saying she got in the game and where she is by flaunting herself and using her body can also be applied to men.

It happens all the time. Right now, somewhere, some guy just got a promotion because his lady boss has the hots for him.

From memory she's killed off on Earth during the opening days/moments of the Reaper invasion, which since she was a Cidatel Reporter is a bit strange. If it had been your suggestion I would have been ok with it, maybe seen a clip on one of hte mointors during the Cebrus invasion for example.

I felt her character was just meh. The idea of a reporter joining the crew was awesome; too bad it amounted to rubbish. I blame the writing and mechanic though 2bh.

Was I the only one who thought he voice acting wasn't that bad? Most people use her sexualized image to insult her, and they say she only got her job for her looks so I can see where she and her supporters are coming from.

I am with you there, I don't think she is as bad as people say she is. Her role is so minor that it wont make me rage all over just because her acting isn't as good as people like Seth Green and Mark Meer.

They killed her off on Earth? Humanity's reporter on the Citadel, was killed on Earth? Who in the wide world would make that the "story"?
