Jessica Chobot/Diana Allers and misogyny. (Lolque)

Not ok to use Jessica Chobot in the game.
Okay to feature tons of scenes featuring Miranda's ass, near naked Asari and humans, and multiple sex scenes.
Go on and on about realism, but sex sells. End

Chobot works for IGN, and actively advertises on her own attractiveness (I seem to recall a picture on her own twitter feed of her licking a PSP suggestively.)
I am not saying using what you have to further your career is a bad thing, just don't try and hide it behind "artistic integrity" when you do it.

That has -nothing- to do with the point.
It's an ethical conflict of interest to hire someone who works for one of the more popular reveiw sites that will help sell your game through good reviews.

Also, his Spanish accent was non existent, which was stupid because they just HAD to throw in Spanish words.
When I talk in english and throw in a word in spanish it sounds like the way it did in the game so I don't see why people think it is unatural, that is simply what it sounds like when you learned both languages at the same time, you have no accent with either.
Yeah, I'm quite guilty of that too when I speak. It just seemed so random with that character though.
The other people who quoted this made good points too, it wasn't really a good comparison to make.
What if they threw in Edward Cullen's actor in there, and based the model off of him? Would the criticisms still be there? (this is assuming he used the same emotionally dead persona that I hear so many people criticise)

Hell, you can say "no, I don't want you on my ship" like I did the first time.
Problem = solved
I don't actually have anything against her. I wanted the reporter role to be far more extensive, because it would have been a fun and interesting addition to the game. Instead it was severly limited, with almost no interaction or interesting aspects, utilizing a poorly rendered character model of an attractive woman.
She deserved better.

Not sure where all the hate's coming from. I can't see it being limited to the voice acting - I mean certainly everyone's seen worse, especially when talking about video games where some VO is so budget it hurts (not BioWare's games, but there are many others that try).
I guess if some people don't like the person behind the voice it makes more sense. But is Chobot really that polarizing of a person? (I wouldn't know - never bother with IGN stuff).

The same here. I didn't find her perfomance bad, I didn't find it great either. I just found it OK.
Now
if you want to hear some REALLY awful voice acting I suggest looking up
on youtube clips from the God awful Omni/Star TV English dubs of Transformers: Headmasters, Transformers: Masterforce, and Transformers: Victory,
(they are so bad that Hasbro won't let Shout Factory release them on
DVD even as a bouns feature) if you can survive that you can damn near
survive anything.
LOL, I've never seen this show before, but it pretty much sets the standard for hilariously bad Voice Acting www.youtube.com/watch

Ew, no.
Yes, it would be. Even more.

I would just like to point out one thing: there are quite a few posters in here who seem to find the word s*ut incredibly insulting, like a horrific swear word, yet are throwing the word misogyny around like a frisbee, which IMO is a far worse thing to call someone. Calling anyone who goes off on one about Allers/Chobot a misogynist is way, way too strong and makes me think some people have forgotten the meaning of the word:
Misogyny (play /mɪˈsɒdʒɪni/) is the hatred of women or girls.
Hatred, guys. Not even dislike or taking issue with but outright hatred. And on a generalist scale too (all women). Whether or not you take issue with people getting pissed off at her, to go as far as calling it misogyny is ridiculous and tantamount to calling a comedian a ****, and personally I find that far more disgusting than people using the word s*ut.
Yeah. The real problem isn't shaming women for their sexuality, no. The real, REAL problem is calling someone a misogynist when they do that. Because it's so hard to be called out on your crap.
If you took the brainpower you used to come up with this backward theory and used it to understand this argument, you would come to understand that hatred is not always this obvious thing that anyone can see. More often than not, it's insidious.
No, my issue is pitch-fork-like behaviour which some of this feels like. Alot of the posts throwing that term around are not balanced posts - they're not posts like:
"It's ****ed up to shame women but it's also ****ed up to throw the "misogynist" insult out at everyone who has a problem with Chobot."
Instead they're just "RAHR, MISOGYNISTS THE LOT OF YOU!"
I also think that's an issue that you may personally have that anyone or everyone who criticizes someone of your sex for being ****ty automatically hates your sex - that's called pigeon-holing. It's the same concept as me calling you a misandrist because you're arguing with me, take issue with me and I am a man, therefore you must hate all men.
It's also ironic because that behaviour is painting people with the same brush yet the very thing you take issue with in this topic is people painting Chobot with a particular brush. Wow.
Also, the insults depend on origin. For example, where I come from s*ut really isn't that bad a word and it's something I personally (and some others) call guys who behave in the same way as well. However, calling someone a misogynist or misanthrope is worse because it denotes actual hatred.

To be fair, I thought the tons of scenes featuring Miranda's ass were unnecessary as well. Along with the boob jobs to Ashley and Jack but I already mentioned both of those.
I don't remember seeing near naked Asari and humans in any great percentage though... but if I'm missing a hub world somewhere that specializes in that sort of thing let me know.

Well... Diana Allers looks ugly as hell. She looks like they took the head of some fat woman and put it onto a models body. I think that was the most offputting thing about that char. Watching her talk and stuff and thinking "Damn this is about the first ugly woman i saw in the Mass Effect series, but kinda her body looks appealing, they probably had to use the stock body for the other chars"
I honestly thought Allers was to be some plain woman, uninteresting, behind the desk journalist. It was really odd when she kinda did that pickup line for Shepard. Its was like the grey uninteresting chick that never really talks to anyone, suddenly comes forward and wants sex with you. It was more perplexing than anything else.
The Mad Hanar wrote...

Yeah, well, and then i found out, thanks to said supporters and the controversy who she is. The Ingame doesn't do her justice, not that i find her particularily appealing. I watches some shows with her, to understand who she is.. and she is a really obnoxious woman, so i can see why people are pissed.
And i still think putting her into the game was either a casting couch thing or a press stunt. Either way, she is just one more example of what went wrong with this game.
I mean with Yvonne Strahovski, i didn't mind it at all, because she is an Actress and does a very good job at playing Miranda, but Diana Allers? That character is plain and ugly, doesn't add anything to the story, but is essential in getting war assets, so you can't really turn her down, and her voice acting is rather... boring. It misses an actors skill and the ability to convey emotions with words.

No offense, but too bad. If a bunch of people are around throwing out sexism and misogyny left and right, they're probably going to get called on it. I'm not interested being "balanced" when it comes to that. If some people can't handle that, they can always stop saying sexist and/or misogynist things. Simple.
I also think that's an issue that you may personally have that anyone or everyone who criticizes someone of your sex for being ****ty automatically hates your sex - that's called pigeon-holing.
So you're saying... that my having a problem with people who deride women for being "****ty"... means I have an issue? Like, an ISSUE issue? Like, there's a problem in my head for taking offense to ****-shaming and sexism? If that's what you're saying, you need to step the hell down.
Also, the insults depend on origin. For example, where I come from s*ut really isn't that bad a word and it's something I personally (and some others) call guys who behave in the same way as well. However, calling someone a misogynist or misanthrope is worse because it denotes actual hatred.

Yeah the ass scenes with Miranda in particular made me laugh in an ironic way because it's so unsubtle it's laughable.
Things like that and Diana Allers just made me wonder who Bioware was making the game for.
I appreciate a genetically-perfect woman's ass as much as the next male gamer I guess but that doesn't mean I want Miranda's ass in front of the camera during every conversation I have with her. After the n-th time it happened ME3 was becoming a parody of itself.
I also liked Liara, Ashley, and Jack as they were in ME1/ME2. Jack didn't need bigger breasts and really it was sort of a break in that she was the one female squadmate who didn't have huge breasts. Ashley I also thought was fine in ME1/2 and didn't need to "let her hair down" and have her features changed to look "sexier".
The whole decision-making process here by Bioware is confusing. Or, if not confusing, understandable in a way that I don't really care for. Personal opinion only.
(The decision to make Kaiden bisexual was also puzzling/understandable).
