While I do not agree with the removal of the 1 hit permakill from phantom but the most annoying thing about it is most of the time I get instant kill right after I get revived with a phantom next to me, especially in a situation where I'm the only one alive (dead but not bled to death, if that make sense) and I have to use medi-gel, then get instant killed by a phantom that's waiting there next to me, game ends.

No, I do not share that opinion. The melee instant kill is what makes those enemies scary, and require tactics.

@Brenon Holmes : That would be fantastic. 2 main examples I have of justhow far they've grabbed me before are from Firebase White (though its happened on most maps at this point). On the uprise section (with the ladder/ammo box) in front of you when you spawn. I was behind the 2 crates in the corner of the L shape backing up from one who had just gotten up the right-stairs going into the building. She turned and sync-dragged me from my corner all the way to her (standing near the ladder). That was the 1st time it ever happened and I was all O.O huh?

Another funny one (which I didn't die from) was 2 separate sync attempts, with in the span of 30 seconds-ish while in the lower section of Firebase White again. I was outside by the L shaped cover while the banshee was 'inside' the building somewhere. Outa no where I started getting dragged towards the building but thankfully kept getting stuck on the L shaped cover.

Seriously was some of the most awkward moments right there getting dragged by something I couldn't see hehe. Definitely had a horror movie vibe going at least heh.

They are annoying when you get to do the moonwalk back to where they are standing, but mostly easy to avoid.

Oh god no, the OHK system is what makes them fearful.

Playing as the Krogan Battlemaster on Silver tonight I went toe to toe with 2 Geth Primes, 3 Pyros and 2 Rocket Troops and kicked their shiny metal butts with a combination of charge, GPS, Heavy Melee, Heavy Melee, rinse, repeat. I love taking on Geth Primes, and as such they now hold no fear, I look forward to them spawning in fact.

Everything else with a OHK though, oh hell no! I will charge a Phantom now and again, and low health Brutes and Atlases if I feel brave and it's no the last few rounds. Banshees however scare the living bejeebus out of me, a pair of them phase shifting towards you and you are preying that you don't hit a wall as you run away as fast as your little stumpy Krogan legs can carry you.

Don't change it, but do try to fix it, there is nothing worse than the frustration of being killed by a bloody Banshee with 40 feet arms.

And as for "instakills are stupid", I think people who don't know how to manage instakill enemies might be the stupid ones. Those enemies are a clear priority target, that are only dangerous in close. Seriously, what's the issue?

The issue is that  vanguard players are not more then gimped soldiers against such enemies. Sure, its easy enough to kill them just with weapons but that isnt the point.

Your thought that Vanguards should be capable to killing anything is a purely flawed notion.

And, that is the point, just not the point you want.

Lol so Bioware people have to "unlock" everything as well? :)  I thought you can just press anykey or something and Black Widow X is yours :)

Its actually funny that a girl with a sword could instantly kill a krogan vanguard on silver.(a banshee is at least a boss enemy, a phantom isnt) What is the point of playing a vanguard when someone could only charge cannon fodder? And against elite and boss enemies all other classes are better?

It is not that I dont understand what is angering you - i dont enjoy being slaughtered any more than the next guy. I am however, having trouble understanding why the heck you dont just ajust your tactics regarding these 2 (of all the different mobs in MP) particularly powerfull units.

Trooper: Heavy Melee!
Centurion: Heavy Melee!
Guardian: Heavy Mel o'wait -> M-300 Claymore!
Engeneer: Heavy Melee!
Nemesis: Heavy Melee!
Phantom: Heavy MeNOOO! HOW CAN THIS BE?!? I ARE KROGAN I MUST HEADBUTT MY WAY TO GLORY!

Seriously, instead of complaining, learn to deal with it.

Also this:

Banshees wouldn't be a threat and would need to be rebalanced to spam warp.

... and the same goes for the Phantom.

I'll take a Krogan with some "post game assembly required" any day over a Banshee spamming her warp and Phantoms using their palm-pistols even more.

And finally:

You seem to have found the source of the problem. "Mah usal tactic no work, fix now plox."

I hope you're not being sexist.

Also, If you don't want to be one-hit-killed by a boss-type enemy, don't try and Biotic Charge, Nova spam them.

Agreed. Ther'es nothing worse then running away from a Banshee and then you get pulled back fifteen metres and she grabs you. :x

Lol I've heavy meleed a charging brute on my GI found it funny Tbh..

As for phantoms outside of their hand gun they are push overs I heavy melee them to death with GI cuz they refuse to back up enuff to use their gun if I'm close to them so they keep walking right into my melee bubble banshees outside of the slide kill are ez and geth don't need instant kills they have the turret and drone and the hunters.

Different classes work best for different units I'm.sorry but if a vanguard was allowed to BC everything with lil to fear then the game would get boring and all tactical game play would be gone.

Just the slide kill of the banshee needs to be looked at keep insta-kills as they are and fix the glitch where vanguards start warping above and below the maps

Banshees and Pahntoms are annoying yes but I have never been insta-killed by a Brute EVER. Not even when they were right on top of me. Actually I don't even know what that looks like. And because you can counter-charge them with krogans and vanguards and dodge them with other classes/races they are not a problem at all.

They pick you up and snap your neck then slam on the ground. Tasteful

What's your reasoning behind 'vanguards shouldn't be able to kill everything'? All the other classes can :P

Becaue it makes people care about it. It makes it special. If it wasn't permanent, the average "Joe PwnsUrMom" would just let his team mates work even harder by having to revive him on top of killing whatever got him in the first place.

Actually, I don't think we would mind the instant-kills so much if it wasn't PERMANENT.

Also, 2.3 meter grab range on the banshee is pretty freaking far. Throw in a little lag and that would account for the ridiculously long grabs we've been seeing.

The instakills are ridiculous, ESPECIALLY when you get sucked towards them and the fact that your character just stands there with his jaw hanging on the floor. Its already enough that they can take alot of damage.... and have support..... and have a strong ranged/melee attack....... I think they should make those moves more like a power melee attack instead of a "haha i instakill you!!" thing.

Isn't the Batarian Sentinel (and possibly Soldier) immune to insta-kill animations?

Instant kills forces you to adapt your tactics to changing situations.

If you feel the desire to be up everything's nose, meleeing everything, you're going to get ****slapped by something bigger than you eventually.

Makes sense. Dunno why you're unhappy. Unless you're not aware enough to stay out of melee range from these opponents.

I think they are alright.

However,

when I am clearly far away from one of those enemies then the game teleports me 180 degrees around into an instant kill move I am not cool with that. It could be lag but still, so not cool.

Krogan should be vulnerable to OHKO attacks, but should be immune to the instant bleedout afterwards. The would fit with the flavor of the Krogan, and help balance the fact that they're melee-focused classes with no evasive dodges.

Kinda like using Charge to get away from a Banshee only to have her grab you from the initial location.

On average, human females have 40% to 50% less upper body stength than a human male.

As a human male, and a physically fit one at that, I have no doubts about my ability (or rather, lack thereof) to impale a Krogan who is naked, to say nothing of one wearing armor.

But then again, she's a Reaper tech'd cyborg ninja with a space-sword...

So no, gender not significant I suppose!  :o

EDIT:  Also, ask yourself if the statement was this; "Its actually funny that a guy with a sword could instantly kill a krogan vanguard on silver" would you have any problem with it?

If not, you and those who jumped the sexism gun with you are probably reading a little bit too much into it!

Yes Brenon, please look into fixing the Banshee Drag of Doom!

It is quite frustrating to sprint passed her with at least six feet of clearance before charging something on the other side of the map, only to be teleported back into her cold embrace for a synch kill.
Or as another poster mentioned, leaping from a ladder to a lower level, but being caught in her super telekinesis and sucked back into her claws.

The other synch kills are acceptable, if a silly inclusion in my opinion from a gameplay perspective, because I am a firm believer that instant kills very rarely add to/make for compelling gameplay.
They are artificial challenge enhancers and I think a little bit lazy, because of their tendency to make an enemy that is in all other ways "meh" difficulty-wise into a "WHOAGHSH*TRUNRUNRUNRUN!!!" enemy in one step.
