I was a huge DA fan played through it tons of times. But after hearing all I did about DA2 I was a little sketchy on buying it. But It's cheap enough to buy. I'm just curious

Is it as disappointing as I heard? Is it worth getting?

Please I'd love opinion on this no one near me konws anything about dragon age =/ So the internet is my only resource lol. Thanks in advanced.

It is a fun game, just don't expect DAO2.

You're asking us for an assessment of the game without providing us any information about your personal preferences. For all I know, the reason you loved DAO is because of the nug-collecting mini-game in Orzammar.

Sadly, there is no nug-collecting in DA2. Get used to disappointment.

I don't know much about the game honestly. To answer evildude I loved DAO for it's gameplay, characters, with the exception of zander I hated him so much that I don't care if I spelled his name wrong.

I heard the story was shakey and the gameplay had turned into that of a more hack and slash friendly reality. I didn't want to dwell to far into it as I didn't want to ruin the story if it was in fact very good.

Thank you keesio for your input I really appreciate it. The only real question I guess I have is, does it matter if I buy it used or not. I know that EA is lame with their online pass and I know my online pass will be void and unable to be used in DA2, but is that a big deal? Does the online pass give me anything special that I couldn't get later? Or is it just a minor inconvenience?

Buying the game new nets you the Black Emporium DLC (you can buy it separately).

I was in the same boat as you a few months back when I was torn whether or not to buy DA2 or not. I bought it for six dollars off of Amazon's download service and felt that I got a reasonably enjoyable fourty hours out of it.

I'd sum up the game as Dragon Age Origins with a step backward in almost every respect. The gameplay is fairly simple; I played as a mage on hard and spammed elemental magic throughout the entire game and only had trouble with two bosses. The combat is much flashier though and is satisfying even if its easy. The overall game has been simplified quite a bit, including the equipment screen and the skill trees.

The story is "meh" compared to DA:O, but its still a fairly enjoyable ride. The main plot is slow-paced and political in nature. Its a lot more thinly spread than DA:O's story, but I liked it. The ending is pretty crappy though, it feels like they ran out of budget right at the end. One thing that I loved is that the side-quests have more substance and story to them compared to DA:O, even if the writing is a little uneven. The characters admittedly all feel like DA:O rejects, but there is some hilarious dialogue to be had and their pretty well fleshed out.

Long story short, I'd recommend it if you can keep an open mind. If you spend your time playing the game comparing it to DA:O you're bound to be disappointed. However, if you can let go of the amazingness of DA:O, there is a good chance you will enjoy yourself. You still get that Dragon Age vibe even if it doesn't quite live up to the original.

Each time I write my own personal review, I always manage to whine a bit too much, so I will just link this video review that I think sums everything up very well of what to expect:
