Proximity Mine

Anybody got any pointers on using the Proximity Mines? I really like my Salarian Infiltrator, but right meow the mines seem pretty useless. Enemies walk past and completey miss them, and when they do essplode the essplosion is lackluster at best.

If you max it out, proximity mine's damage becomes pretty respectable. At rank 5, you want to get the version that causes enemies to take 20% more damage for 8 seconds, which makes it really good to use on banshees, brutes, etc.
As for hitting your target, I will admit that it can be tricky at times. If you practice with it, you will find that you can shoot the mine directly at an enemy to hit them and do a lot of damage. It is kinda hard though, because the mine doesn't go exactly where the crosshair is pointed. Banshees and phantoms are the hardest to hit, but it can be done. The easiest way to hit an enemy with the mine is to cloak into almost melee range, then put it right at their feet. To that end, I upgrade my cloak so I can fire one power without breaking out of cloak. I also carry a shotgun instead of a sniper so I can then proceed to dispose of most of the enemies in an area.
I can assure you that this method of playing an infiltrator is more than viable. I usually end up stealing a great deal of kills in a game with proxy mine and a shotgun. Make sure to grab at least a few ranks of energy drain, too.

thanks a lot man, i just upgraded to rank 5, I'm going to equip my eviscerater and try that out!
