I have been told that N7s are possible from Spectre Packs, without about the same order of frequency as the Javelin and Black Widow rifles. Ultra-Rares, but not unobtainables.

You were told wrong.

I have unlocked 2 or 3 N7 weapons from spectre packs, thought that was how it was supposed to work.

I got my Javalin and Paladin from Spectre Pack. So I think it's possible to get all N7 weapons just buy spending credits. That said, my friend who are N7 300 only has a Javalin II

Javelin is an N7-Rarity weapon, but it's not an N7 Weapon. Actual "N7" weapons say "N7" in the name, like the N7 Valiant or the N7 Crusader. They can only be gotten from Commendation Packs, which were ONLY given out as rewards for participating in the weekend events ( such as Operation Goliath, or Operation Raptor )- and it should only be possible to have a level 2 of any given weapon.

So if you see somebody with an N7 Valiant III, or N7 Valiant X especially, they cheated to get it.

OOHH, well that clears it up for me. I was under the impression the other ultra-rare weapons without the "N7" (Javelin for example) in the name were considered N7.

yeah but he kinda stole those items from others

edit: from what i understand the glitch or whatever it is takes away the victory pack away from others

Not really, it's a digital item with unlimited copies.

Black = Ultra rares, you can unlock these through spectre packs.
N7= Similar box appearance (if I recall correctly), but have the N7 designation in the weapon's name.

N7 are only obtainable via the commendation packs.
Ultra-rares like the Javelin, Black Widow, Paladin, etc can be as high as someone is lucky.

He shouldn't have done it.
Seriously- no gray area here. He was in the wrong.

That's technically incorrect.

To be more specific, N7 weapons SHOULD only come from commendation packs.

@hector000 :blink:

The simple way to discrbe the glitch was that you trick the server into thinking after you open your pack that you didn't get it.  So it refreshs and gives you a new one.  So no he didn't TAKE it from someone else, but because of his actions others who did not have time to retrieve theres was cut off from actually getting theirs.

I went on the technicality that the N7 weapons and N7 rarity weapons show up on the same card (at least to my crappy vision) in store packs. That said, the N7 weapons only come from commendation packs, whereas the N7 rarity weapons can be gotten from spectre packs.

Why report? Wasn't this caused by you guys giving people multiple packs?
In the sticky you guys talk of it being an exploit when they didnt have to do anything.
I still haven't even got my pack from Raptor.

It was a bug that allowed people to exploit if they figured it out. Random bugs happen in code ...

Even if other people where cheating, it's draconian to punish EVERYONE by pulling the packs completely. Is exploiting bad, yes of course.

However punishing the innocent for the actions of the guilty has never been a good strategy. Instead of withholding out packs, how about you seek out the abusers specifically, and get rid of them. It is asinine that we can't have our packs because someone else got more than they should, who cares.

If you read one of the other topics, Bryan mentioned that they were on hold while an external company is completing testing on the fix, at which time they will extend the event and give packs to those who ought to have gained one.

You will be getting them anyway, you aren't being "punished"- it's just been delayed until they can push out the patch for the exploit. I agree that they should seek out and punish the ones who actively abused it, but I also see why they had to put a halt on the packs as a whole. Show some patience.

I know they are coming out. My intent was to not sound impatient, but to point out the fact that their logic is skewed.

The Valiant comes from commendation packs, not spectre packs. Without abusing the exploit, rank II is the highest rank currently possible.

i think rank 3 is the highest possible

There have only been two commendation pack events, not three. If someone has three, they either intentionally or unintentionally glitched.

If I saw someone with an N7 weapon level III, I wouldn't report it. If someone hands you $5 for no reason, you don't go to the cops and say "This guy handed me $5 for no reason." You just say "Hey, thanks for the $5."

On the other hand, if someone hands you $500 for no reason, you probably go to the cops and say "Hey, this guy handed me $500 for no reason.".

It's the difference between an honest mistake, and intentional cheating. I'd probably set the threshold at Level V before I'd report it.

Indeed the people who came accross it accidently and those that were exploiting is fairly obvious.

They were being handed out for just over 12 hours, and admitly the way to come accross it was not incredibly hard from a user who was playing both single player and multiplayer. Given the very small window, it does seem obvious that you were taking advantage of something that was clearly not intentional.

But why do we need to report it?  I have been told several times that you log EVERYTHING in the store.  Isn't it a simple search to see who has gotten more than three (or whatever number) commendation packs?

Don't you guys also track weapon unlocks?

Seems like some simple queries would solve most issues pretty quick.
