I am a very happy individual right now, mainly due to the recent announcement of the ME3 Extended Cut.  I actually let out a sigh of relief when I heard the news.  I am really eager to see how it ends up tying up some of the loose ends.  What do yall think (or hope haha) that it will address?  Unlike most fans who had troubles with the ending, I was not on board with changing it to something else, but I did have those nagging questions about some of the plot holes in the game.  My number one thing that I would like to see get a full explanation would have to be the scene where Joker is traveling away from the battle.  It felt too jarring for me compared to how everything else was going down.  I'd like to get yalls opinion on what you would like to see get some explanation too,  since there are a few oddball things about it.

Another one that kind of irked me was the mass relays exploding, which since it was established in Arrival that doing so would destroy the nearby systems.  If they explained that one too that would be nice. Posted Image

I'm down with it. My biggest issue with the ending was the lack of closure and even with some of the weird and perhaps lazy elements of the ending here to stay(for now?) closure would make me feel like I accomplished something at the end of one of my favorite game series of all time.

Yea, that's all I am really looking for as well is that sense of closure. I feel like the general consensus people get from all the people who were not satisfied with the ending wanted it changed to something with "Puppies and rainbows", and for a majority of people that isn't the case. I was completly fine with my shepard dying, and I actually picked the control option. It's just everything that comes after the Final Choice really doesn't have any sound explanation, and to me in particular it felt like a random string of events.

Also, Shepard's(?) chest rising on London(?).

Looking forward to it. What the ending lacks right now is detail--it is enormously vague and hurried. A series this long and involving deserves and epilogue.

Agreed. The vanilla presentation is just so bland and lacking in anything...Mass Effect. Just doesn't feel right

I'm hopeful. Gamble has said there is a lot they can do, even without changing the endings. And they've done so much so right in the past, that I'm willing to give them a chance to make right. I actually appreciate that they are trying to make right.

Plus, let's be honest, I'm way invested in this series and I WANT this game to end better so that I can continually re-live these events.

I've just completed my second playthrough. Long story short, it was still brilliant up until Thessia, and still above par afterwards. Things seriously started going downhill when the Citadel moved to Earth and both sides started acting illogical. But yeah, it could be solved by some editting, personalisation and - indeed - a bit more clarity. Up until the spacechild. The spacechild is godawful. The writing in that scene had me cringing all the way through. No way this isn't first draft. There's no logic behind it. Shepard acts nothing like Shepard. Deciding to shoot exploding barrel point blank is just a final drop. If Extended Cut does not cut it out or alter dramatically, it will be all for nought.

It better eat toxic waste and poop diamonds if it's going to redeem that terrible punch to the gut that was the current ending.

I'm not optimistic about it. I'll just leave it at that.

I'm not sure how I feel about, I suppose it couldn't make it any worse?
I won't get too excited until I actually see it, I don't want to be let down again.

I've always wanted the ending changed. That being said I have seen some fan written endings where they keep most parts of the ending but add onto it. And I end up liking them a lot. So I dont think fixing the ending is impossible (plot holes ignored) if Bioware makes some serious additions (like making the god child really harbinger, or adding a f*** you option when given the 3 coices).

I still think they should do a whole new ending but I'll make my final decision once I see this Extended Cut.

Posted Image  Haahaa I don't know.  I feel like the announcement of it completly swept my doubts under the table.  And I agree that there are definately too many variables you accumulated throughout the ME series for a jumbled up assortment of scenes.  Hopefully the Extended cut will actually take into account our choices that we made throughout the 3 games and has different scenes depending on how you played.  Like do they have a Funeral for shepard with your love interest in tears?  Interesting idea haha, but seeing as how ME3 nearly made me burst into tears on multiple occasions, I feel like they will be able to hit those emotional keys again.

Shut up!  Don't give them ideas!  It might contain more starbrat.

It can only get better, can it?

That being said, I'm very pessimistic. The endings are just broken, "additional clarity and closure" won't fix that.

Looking forward to it with cautious optimism. My memories of Mass Effect aren't fond right now and all I ask is for the EC to change that.

Also cautiously optimistic. I'm hopeful that they can make it better. But I also didn't think Bioware could screw up the ending as badly as they did. As long as we don't get Bizarro-Bioware writing the extended cut, it should be OK.

yeah...don't get your hopes up, it's obvious that this will just be another poor attempt at an excuse to why they messed up. Nothing will change and unless things change the ending will still be as horrible as in it's current state no matter how much they try to "explain" it.

I am, as they say, down with it. Sounds like they've got a lot of people working on it pretty hard, which is encouraging.
