Prior to finishing ME3 I would have been anxiously awaiting and ME DLC, seeing the ending however has caused me to question how highly I had regarded BioWare in the past. That being said, I am looking forward to it, and when it comes out I'll give ME3 another try, its one of the best games I've ever played, right up until the end, and I'd hate to see what is otherwise a phenomenal game spoiled by a bad ending.
What are your thoughts on the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut?

I'm holding off until we actually see it
At first my main problem with the ending was the suddenness and lack of closure, and the Normandy running, but the more I think about them, the less I like them/the less sense they make to me in terms of story and setting. Especially (1) Star Child (2) "reapers are the good guys" (3) the synthesis option.
So I was hoping for a full end-ectomy. I concede that there is a chance that the Extended Cut will at least make up enough that I will want to play the game again. But I think it's going to be much harder for them to succeed with it because of their self-imposed restriction that the endings not be altered.

Well some Devs were saying that in the Extended Cut it might be possible for Shepard to reunite with Crew/LI
and that the people on the citadel don't die or at least the important ones.

I am interested to see the "clarity" they decide to provide. More interested in the general fan reaction that will accompany the release on these forums however. Two most likely outcomes are that most people are pacified, accept it and move or the "clarity" that we get only serves to enrage people further creating more speculation and general angst.

I'm optimistic, but not overly so.
The fact that we are getting additional cut scenes is promising in itself, but I don't think that means we're going to get extra dialogue. That would mean bringing in the voice actors again and that often has challenges of it's own.
It's driving me nuts waiting, admittedly.

Eh who cares got the black screen glitch anyway game hasn't worked since launch week, nor is Bioware going to bother fixing it.

I'm gonna wait and see, I wouldn't mind seeing our war assests in action... I've always wondered what an Elcor back cannon looks like.

Cautiously optimistic. They're taking their time with the Extended Cut, so I hope that it will result in an ending that makes sense.

Calling right now (and in more elaborate posts for a week) that it is positively going to be a "it is because we say it is" extended cut.

dont care how happy or sad they make the resolution and clarity...if they make the end still boil down to starbrat appearing in the last scene and everything boiling down to what he says....then its still the same ending, regardless of happy or sad levels of the resolution and clarity

Apprehensive. It could just confirm a lot that bothers me, even if the plotholes are somehow all fixed. What little we've heard doesn't fill me with confidence although it sounds like it might be a bit better than what the original announcement said (that very, very much read as "we're giving you more of the same").

Looking forward to it, but am feeling mostly pessimistic on it considering how EA will no doubt get say on it.

I think they will retcon/change A LOT more than you immagine OP.....not that they'd ever admit that the new content is anything more than what they intended all along but anything is clarification when nothing makes sense....even a dream or indoctrination scenario and completely throw something unexpected at you is just "clarification" without adding new endings since technically that's just building on what's already there.
Personally I'd LOVE the indoctrination theory and some of the things they said on twitter recently even hint at that....things like the mass relays not being destroyed in the control ending.....that's clearly impossible unless you say shep was dreaming or hallucinating their destruction so all in all I think BioWare is going down the right path.

I really like the idea of it. I'm a fan of the original endings, and just wish plotholes were filled, my choices to be more reflected, and some stuff on what exactly happened after post choice.
So if Joker and crew scenes are more explained, more conversations with Star Kid, more scenes of my Assets at work, and a clear understanding of the impact my final choice has to the rest of the galaxy, and what's still standing, then I'd be happy. Plus, maybe include the trial scene that was abandoned would be cool.
One thing I hope that doesn't happen is a single "best" ending.
I don't like the idea that one ending is clearly better then the others. And it's based off a specific choice. Like right now, I'm hearing the possibility of Destroy Plus being the best ending, because it involves Shepard living, EDI living, and the Geth living. And if that's happens, I think it'll hurt my choices as a player. Like one of the reasons why I picked Synthesis is to try and create peace without destroying the Geth and EDI. Well, if they live in Destroy Plus, then why should I pick that ending? Why should anyone pick that ending? Why should anyone pick Control? Because I might've picked Control because I wasn't willing to force change on everyone, while not destroying the Geth. But if the Geth can live in Destroy, and if Shepard can stop the Reapers without dying, then what's the point of this option? To force change on the Galaxy for kicks? To risk Shepard losing control of the Reapers? And so Shepard can needlessly die? Like it comes off as pick A or B for questionable endings, and to kill your character. Or pick C to get a happy ending with no consequences, and Shepard lives to be with LI forever. It creates a very big unbalance. It makes it seem like this is the "Correct" choice, because it's the most rewarding, and has no consequences.
So I hope that instead of making one single "best" ending that's linked to only one choice, they instead make "Best" endings for all 3 choices. And it's based on your choices, and the highest EMS. So no matter what choice you picked, you feel like you're reward, and you picked the ending that was right for you. Instead of feeling like "I clearly should've picked Destroy Plus, because it's the best ending, with the most content and rewards".

It better do more than just add a couple of crappy Dragon Age paragraphs or I'm done with Bioware. What it should do is flesh out the entire London mission with your War Assets coming into play and then make the endings more complete and hopefully better. The option to kill "my sweet" would be a huge plus for me.

It pretty much renewed my hope in Bioware and I now want to continue to play all their games. In fact as I am typing this I am getting beat up in DA:O because I was too stupid to pause during a boss fight.
Now let's just hope that what they give us is good. I was in the camp where I would have liked a complete rewrite but I would definitely settle for a clarification.

Trying to remain hopeful, and it really helps that it's free. Hopefully it doesn't screw the pooch more than the current ending already has.
