True, it's been around a few years now, but I don't like it any more than when I first encountered it; same with schemes that typically require online reauthorisation every time you want to play. It'd be nice if games publishers would just, well, be nice.Cutlass Jack wrote...
Same reason as always. Its an incentive to get you to pre-order the game. This is nothing at all new to the industry.
It would also be very nice if Steam didn't insist on killing my computer. (Edit: Or be on my computer for that matter)
We can all dream can't we?

"Deep Silver and Piranha Bytes today released the fifth episode of the six part making of series that will become available over the course of the next months.
In this episode, the developers from Piranha Bytes discuss the different fighting options in the game and explain
:
- how fighting is just one of the options allowing players to progress in the game, and how avoiding the fight can solve quests too
- different fighting styles available
- allowing players to utilize blades, firearms and voodoo
- how much swashbuckling swordfights from classic pirate movies influenced the fighting styles in the game
- how dirty tricks, such as parrot distractions or sand throwing, complement the 'pirate way of fighting' and create unique variations in fighting styles."
And linky

I noticed that GAME UK have a special edition listed for £40 along with the collectors edition at £60 for Xbox. They don't state whats so special about the special edtion, anyone have any info? I suspect it might just be a misprint.

I can't wait for this game. Sounds like a classic RPG by Piranha Bytes with all its pros and cons.

IMHO you should, unless you pre-ordered it. The reviews have completely turned me off the game, well the reviews coupled with the dlc strategy.fchopin wrote...

Yes. That is hilarious
It comes as no surprise to me that it got somewhat average scores. They don't really tell me if it'll live up to my expectations. They didn't scare me away either, I am definitely looking forward to trying it.

The scores haven't turned me off its the content in the reviews.

I wouldn't worry about it. The game obvioulsy has some flaws (weak story, bad animations, average combat) and bugs (it's made by Piranha Bytes, after all), but its incredibly well designed and detailed world makes up for it. Plus you can train a parrot to attack enemies. lol

I am willing to forgive an awful lot if the game is great. On the other hand, I think many big releases these days have too little brilliance behind all the polish.
Whether Risen 2 has any hint of brilliance remains to be seen. Although training parrots to fight sounds like my idea of fun, I won't buy the game if that's the only good thing
