The thread is Valid, no one who actually qualifies as a mod would consider "nuking" it. The OP may be against the grain, but his opinion is his, and he is allowed to state it here.

Please shut up. It's so hard for power users to be have a gun that doesn't hinder cooldowns and be effective at the same time. The Carnifex has already been nerfed, if anything the other guns need a buff. 

Again, I cordially ask you the STFU.

The Carnifex in MP feels like a completely different gun from ME2 and ME3 single player. Certainly compared to ME2 it fires faster and has less kick back. I don't use it in single because of both of those attributes, yet that is barely a concern in MP.

Increasing it's weight won't make people less likely to use it.

I also don't think it's the fault of the gun, but the fault of weight system. Recharge times are way too fast in ME3. The 200% bonus makes everything super fast. Try going back to ME2 and you'll be amazed at how slow the cooldowns are. The fact that there aren't really any classes (other than infiltrators) that would use more than one weapon is stupid. The system is flawed when you are having to choose a single weapon to deal with all circumstances, rather than choosing two that have different strengths.

In my opinion there should never have been bonuses for being under weight, only penalties for being over encumbered. I.E. each class gets a set weight allowance that goes up with levels/evolutions. If you are under that cap no penalty, over the cap take a recharge hit.

God forbid you actually use insanely good biotic explosions or great CC tech powers and not have a means to shoot everything to death easily.

Then again I agree with your point that most weapons either need a rediculous buff or just rework the armor system so that high damage weapons take as much of a hit as auto's do.

Who knows which one is harder.

I think that this is a good analysis, though I don't think it takes into account the whole picture (i.e., the fact that full-auto weapons are woefully pathetic against armor, and in many cases aren't competitive against even unarmored targets).

Carnifex has a low amount of shots before it runs out, 6 with no ammo mods, and a low clip, about 24ish with no ammo mods, that it's balanced fine. In the right hands, it's basically a sniper rifle, even unscoped, but it has enough drawbacks to balance it out. Ammo mod helps alleviate the number of shots problem, but taking up a mod spot that could be used for something else is a drawback in itself.

Carnifex is fine.

Why are people calling for nerfs?. Shut up. They've already nerfed certain guns and made them worthless. There should be at least a few weapons that are worth a damn in the game.

In Bronze maybe, but there is no consequence in bronze. It can make a big difference in Silver or Gold if you are pinned and run out of ammo and need to get to an ammo pack to replenish it. And only having 6 shots before you have to reload can make a world of difference. It can be the difference between killing something, and watching it escape behind cover.

You are completely missing/disregarding one, if not (definately) the most important part of what makes a game fun to play.

It's not to have a weapon that tickles the enemy, it's to feel powerful and useful. To feel like you're rocking it!

Nerfing the weapons that are giving us this feeling would destroy your gaming experience.

The way to go is to put the other weapons (That aren't used) in line with the weapon we use (The fun ones).

From a gamer and game design perspective, your idea is a direction in the wrong way. A game that stops being fun won't have any players, irrelevant if all the weapons are balanced or not. But naturally,to achieve both is the ultimate.

The tactical cloak shouldn't have the special cooldown that it has.

I think the carnifex should be slightly nerfed (maybe so it can't be a hand sniper and weigh so little), but before then they should balance the other guns so they are actually useful. Like the smg.

That makes no sense to me as I think about.  When you balance weapons I guess it makes sense BUT think about it.  Some weapons are just better then others and thats how it should be.  If you have a problem with that, then I don't know what to tell you (not directing this at you Rivermann).  

Think about the Carnifex is a RARE Gold class weapon.  As it being a gold weapon it SHOULD be good.  If you nerf it to the pont that its inline with the silver/blue weapon whats the point?  Are you fraking stupid?  IT SHOULD be better.  Being a rare and relatively hard weapon to get it SHOULD be good.  If it wasn't then whats the point in trying to get it?  Why not just use the Predator?  

I swear sometimes the mentality of nerfherders on the subject of "weapon balancing" on these forums are the worst.

No, OP. That's a stupid idea. If you don't like the Carnifex, don't use it. No one's making you use it. If others want to use it as-is, let them. It's not like it's hurting you. In fact, it's helping you, since this is co-op and all.

I still can't wrap my head around why people want to nerf things in a co-op game... Anything that's "over powered" helps you out anyway.
