You are completely missing/disregarding one, if not (definately) the most important part of what makes a game fun to play.
It's not to have a weapon that tickles the enemy, it's to feel powerful and useful. To feel like you're rocking it!
Nerfing the weapons that are giving us this feeling would destroy your gaming experience.
The way to go is to put the other weapons (That aren't used) in line with the weapon we use (The fun ones).
From a gamer and game design perspective, your idea is a direction in the wrong way. A game that stops being fun won't have any players, irrelevant if all the weapons are balanced or not. But naturally,to achieve both is the ultimate.
