Yes, that's right. Nerf the Carnifex. Severely. And while you're at it, nerf Tactical Cloak too.

If things are too easy for a group of people make an even harder level for them, dont nerf things for everyone else.
When you have multiple problems and one solution that's an imbalance.

From a gamer and game design perspective, your idea is a direction in the wrong way. A game that stops being fun won't have any players, irrelevant if all the weapons are balanced or not. But naturally,to achieve both is the ultimate.
That makes no sense to me as I think about. When you balance weapons I guess it makes sense BUT think about it. Some weapons are just better then others and thats how it should be. If you have a problem with that, then I don't know what to tell you (not directing this at you Rivermann).
Think about the Carnifex is a RARE Gold class weapon. As it being a gold weapon it SHOULD be good. If you nerf it to the pont that its inline with the silver/blue weapon whats the point? Are you fraking stupid? IT SHOULD be better. Being a rare and relatively hard weapon to get it SHOULD be good. If it wasn't then whats the point in trying to get it? Why not just use the Predator?
I swear sometimes the mentality of nerfherders on the subject of "weapon balancing" on these forums are the worst.
Good catch
I agree completely with you, when I say balance, I'm not saying "every weapon should be just as useful". Maybe I should have made a clarification for balance.
Naturally, some weapons should be better than others. Thats a part of the fun, thinking "Yay I got this badass weapon" and a feeling of progression within the game.
What I meant with weapon balance is that a rare assault rifle should at least be somewhere within the range of its usefulness when compared to a pistol, both being rare. The rare assault rifle shouldn't be outperformed by a common assault rifle/any other weapon irrelevant of their rarity).

Get over it that a rare gun is better then your common, it should be this way.

There is a reason I see mostly snipers. Because chipping away at something, having to shoot it a hundred times - all the while explosing yourself to more fire isn't as fun or satisfying as a precision sniper shot or a brutal shotgun blast.

Mass Effect 3 is a coop multiplayer game, not a PvP game. Yet it still amazes me how people find a way to complain about the power of something. Why do they complain? Because they don't have the said weapon/character, or they have their kills stolen.
Get over it, I am sure if they nerf this then you will go and whine about another weapon. We have enough complaining on this forum as it is without you trying to ruin a weapon for countless others. I hope you get more kills stolen by a Carnifex, maybe even get magically team-killed by one.
The End.

I have Carnifex VIII, and I rarely play with anyone who steals kills with it.

Nope. I don't have complaints about any of the other "overpowered" guns. The Carnifex is the only one that needs a nerf, and it mainly because if you're going to benefit from 200% cooldown bonus, you shouldn't get to use one of the best weapons in the game at the same time. If you can't have your cake and eat it too with any other weapon, why should the Carnifex be different?
Also, I'm amazed by how few people actually read the full original post, instead of just reacting to the thread title.

Nothing needs nerfing. My Carnifex X wrecks trash enemies on gold because it should. It's a RARE at rank 10.
Jesus. It's one of the few weapons these days that feels worthy of the title rare. Other weapons need a buff.
I played through a LOT of matches to earn my X and 200% CD with it. It used to be a heavy beast. Leave it alone.

MMO's are much harder to balance then a straight up CoOp game. Not only that MMOs are every so changing in that department with introduction of higher levels, different PVE NPCs, new items etc etc.

It's not that difficult once you separate the PvE stats from PvP stats. Various MMO's have already done it.

ME3 multiplayer is co-op at its core with elements of competitiveness through achievements to make it satisfying for all kinds of people. That's why we have the scoring system, the medals, and the N7 level. But in the end, everyone gets the same exp and the same credits. Co-op.

But most old formula MMOs have a direct corrolation in which th PVE effects PVP and PVP effecting PVE.
The new crop of MMos like Guild Wars 2 and Terra seems to have figured out a balance between the two when they come out. Or they can be like Guild Wars 1 where they forsake a deep PVE for a kind of meh PVP experince.

So he's bad even though you've never played with him just because he shared his opinion and you disagree?
The Claymore and GPS are also worthy of the "rare" title.
You really sound familiar
