EDI's generally always there to provide Shepard schematic assistance and technical support while on missions.  Since we've generally clarified that there was nothing wrong with the communication channels...   (http://social.biowar...ndex/11337046/1)

Why didn't Shepard contact any of his squadmates after making it to the beam?

Why wouldn't Shepard consult EDI instead of taking the Reaper King's word at face value?  Why was there no communication made to the squadmates with you during the beam run (especially if your love interest was with you)?

I think it's cool that the actual option to refuse the Reaper King's choices were possible... but why wasn't there any effort to try something else (namely advice from EDI)?

Bioware, ME fans.... you have the floor.Posted Image

Apparently, Bioware didn't think that fans would want to debate the Reaper King, or call for clarification, etc. They assumed we'd all take him at his word.

Shepard spent the last 3 games combating people who believed the word of the Reapers...

EDI was getting busy with joker.

Because they didn't think of that.

Now that I think of it, that communication would sort of make the Destroy option super-interesting. Imagine getting EDI's input! Would she give you her blessing and let herself be sacrificed? Probably yes, since she said she'd gladly die for Joker, but imagine the tension there. Imagine EDI knowing about her possible impending death and Shepard knowing that a friend's life is entirely down to him/her, and that if s/he presses the button then EDI will know, in her last moments, what Shepard chose to do.

Urgh, that entire sequence. So much potential. So much waste.

"They didn't think of it" basically sums everything up. In their mind, the ending was completely logical, as if Stephen Hawking himself could find no fault with the starbrat's logic.

"EDI, this thing called the Catalyst told me that the Crucible changed him and now he's given me the option to stop the Reapers!"

"Then stop them Shepard."

"But what if he's lying?"

"We're all going to die anyway if you do nothing."

"Ok thanks EDI."

Shepard:  "EDI, this thing called the Catalyst told me that if I put my hands in a blue electrocution incinerator device, I'll be able to control them!"

EDI:  "How would that work Shepard?"

Shepard:  "I don't know... but I'm gonna do it..."

EDI:  "... "

"Shepard... I'd strongly advise-"

Shepard:  "He warned me that I woul die... so I know it's gonna hurt... just need to stick with it!"

EDI:  "Shepard...."

My explanation that Shepard is still under this "pseudo-indoctrination" control. Now starkid controlling him instead of TIM.

To bad that wasn't in the ending, would've made some sense.

"We do not fully understand all Reaper technology, even the logistics of creating the Human-Reaper and the Mass Relays are unknown to me. And we also have no time, the Reapers are going to destroy the Crucible any moment now, either you do nothing and doom us all or do something and hope he isn't lying."

EDI was able to figure out how to destroy the baby Reaper in the Collector Base... she'd certainly be able to atleast look at how things are set up with the Crucible/Citadel.

Because if you know how to break something you also know how to build it.

I agree completely.  If bioware would have just added more to the ending in the first place, there would not be as much hate on the endings.  At least from those who don't want a completly different ending.

If you break it correctly, you'd atleast have a great clue.

"I am a machine Shepard, I am not psychic. I can only give you a logical analysis on the data we have, and the most logical thing to do would be to do something. If he is lying then we die, but if you do nothing we also die, we will have to hope he is not lying, that is our best option."

They probably didn't want to break the flow of the surreal ending. It would have made sense to consult someone, like EDI, before making a choice that affects the fate of the entire galaxy, though. More dialogue with Starchild could have fixed this.
