So since Bioware has been ignoring people, is that a form of child abuse?

Considering their customers sorta define what the game is? Yeah, you could look at it that way from a certain angle.

In fairness, had Joss written ME3, everyone--EVERYONE--would have died. The universe would have ceased to exist in the final image of the game.

Now, now, not EVERYONE would have died.  Just the most beloved characters.

Joker would get impaled, no question.

No question.

Funny enough, Whedon's material almost always ends happily or hopefully. People can die in the long run, but it always ends on an "up" one way or another.

AFAIK, anyway. Even Angel ended hopefully or bravely.

Angel's ending was pretty depressing, and if you know how the comics (which were approved by Whedon) go, the ending of the tv series is even more depressing.

It ended with them going out in a blaze of glory, but that's not hopeful.

I wonder who the better pilot is, Joker or Wash...

I think you gotta give it to Wash only because Serenity was kind of a pile of garbage duct-taped together.  Imagine what Wash could have done with the Normandy.

Up as in, nothing he's written has ever ended with literally everyone dying. There's always hope in his endings. They're never blatantly happy, but they are "up."

No one is "alive" at the end of "Angel" except for Gunn. Every single person other than him has been killed... Doyle, Cordelia, Wes, the terrible Mary Sue Fred dies to make room for the terrible God Sue Illyria. Angel and Spike are vampires so they are technically dead. Lorne runs away after killing Lindsay.

So yeah, I liked Angel but I wouldn't call the ending "up". Also, as far as Whedon's work goes in general I am not a fan. Alien Resurrection was terrible, and was only watchable because Sigourney Weaver is an amazing actress that made the hybrid Ripley a fascinating character.

Hence, "bravely."

It ended with them still being heroes, and I think that's a good ending because it shows that's what it was all about anyway. Going up against impossible odds with a brave face and whatnot.

ME was about that too until ... well .. you know.

Not EVERYONE would have died! (Just the ones I really care about!)
But there would have been some great dialogue, comebacks, and funny stuff. Wish game companies would hire writers who can actually write dialogue. 'Conrad Verner' seemed like something Joss would have done.

Long live Firefly!

Angel had one of my favourite endings ever. That's how you do "open-ended".

Yup; Garrus, Tali, Liara, Legion, Mordin and Wrex would have been goners.

If Joss wrote ME3, it would have ended with the Crucible energy release becoming the next Big Bang, destroying this universe, but creating the next one.  Fast forward another 14 billion years: Mass Effect 4.

The CRAZY IVAN reference he makes in ME2 is much too relevant here.

But Joss would have done it completely differently, and in a way that actually made sense. It would have been so much better than anything Casey Hudson or Mac Walters could have dreamed up.

Oh I know, I wasn't saying it wouldn't have made sense.  But hell, he's the only human being who can take the adorableness of Felicia Day and kill it.

Eh, her character was so naieve, I saw it as a stroke of mercy.

For a while, I thought it would be great if Firefly could be continued in video game form, hopefully made by BioWare with Joss Whedon as Lead Writer. Not so much anymore. But, who knows, maybe BioWare can reclaim its former glory. Either way, I think Firefly would be best continued in video game form.

Actually, there's a 1 in 4 chance it would have been canceled.  Buffy was never canceled.  Posted Image

I would have been perfectly fine with an ending like Angel.  Shepard and crew charging the reapers head on with little to no chance of surviving?  That's one way to be big god-damn heroes.  Zaeed would certainly approve.

Have to admit, since Adam Baldwin voiced the Quarian, Kal Reger, I kept my ears open to other references. "Blue Suns" was obvious. As was "Big goddamn heroes" (Zaeed) There was another, too, but can't remember.

Hate to admit, but I started playing Halo because Fillian, Baldwin and Tudyk did the main voices in ODST. And I think it was the best Halo. (Didn't Helfer do the voice in that one, too?)

you forget that if he had Summer Glau as a voice actor, ME3 would have been cancelled just after Act I since that if unfortunately all that happens with whatever brilliant work those two do together.
