Joss Whedon's Perspective

Unbelievable amount of speculation of how he would have handled Mass Effect 3 is completely irrelevant.

This isn't directly related to ME3 story and campaign, is it? Why hasn't this thread been closed?
I guess because it discusses Bioware's perspective of "artistic integrity" as it relates to the ending of ME3, and has a well-known writer/director making his own counterpoint to the definition of art. Plus it's interesting to compare ME3 to Whedon's other works.
Why, do you want it shut down badly?

I don't, but they are usually quick to close unrelated topics. Just wondering.Warlock Adam wrote...

Joss says your work is your kid. The ending of ME3 came from the loins of Casey Hudson and Mac Walters, and you people are calling it ugly. Need I say more.
No, we're saying the kid is damaged, broken, and abused and needs better parents.

I'm not much of a Joss fan. I loved the first 3 seasons of Buffy, then it went to crap. He's great at coming up with a concept, terrible at seeing it out.
Wut? Practically everyone I talked to about it agrees that Buffy only got better and better as seasons progressed. I mean, the guy even managed to believably retcon in a sister in season five AND foreshadowed it. And it was brilliantly done... it was all brilliantly done.

In fairness, had Joss written ME3, everyone--EVERYONE--would have died. The universe would have ceased to exist in the final image of the game.
Probably late to the party but still better than what we got.

Joker would get impaled, no question.

Come on folks - let's not forget that Joss Whedon gave us Aliens 4. He's done some good work (Firefly), but that doesn't make him a genius or authority on art.
Didn't you get the memo? Involved in Firefly= Life-long diety membership

Why call him that, when he's not doing anything that makes him seem like whiny and entitled?

Oh, andFirefly.
The opposite has been my experience. And Firefly was mediocre, IMO.

As to the going back and changing a TV show using real actors…I would think it’s a lot harder to do that then it is to change a video game ending in todays internet age.

The end of Angel was pretty cool. BSN would have hated it.
See if we had that the "Not Fade Away" style of non-ending, at least Mass Effect would have ended on an epic cliffhanger.
Garrus: So, ten thousand husks between us and the target. Think we can do it, Shepard?
Shepard: Always have before.
Tali: An unstoppable army and impossible odds? Keelah, it must be a tuesday...
Liara: I admire your confidence, but we're going to need a plan?
Garrus: Got any ideas, Shepard?
Shepard: I don't know about you... but personally, I'm going to take out Harbinger! *Reloads shotgun* Lets get to work!

We're not calling it ugly. We're saying EA's treating it like a pet.

I must have missed that version of the Firefly movie, the movie I have ends with the crew strike a blow for freedom that costs a few of them their lives but everyone else gets out and flys off to the next adventure. I din't know there was another cut of the movie out there.
