IMHO yes easily, even with endings I really don't like.

Lol Game of the Year, as in better than every game released in 2012 even those not out yet?

Oh my no.

But it will be nominated by the VGA's and other award givers, but I won't be agreeing.

As of the current state of the game.... Nope, unfortunately. There are too many glaring flaws that prevent me from even considering this game for GOTY. Lucky for us we are still in the beginning of the year. So I expect there will be plenty of material and fixes for the game to make it GOTY.

What is coming out in 2012 you ask?

Well we've got Assassin's Creed 3, the end to that trilogy (with non trilogy elements added onto it, but THEY WERE JUST EXPANSION PACKS <.<)

We've got Diablo 3 which I hate with a passion but will probably win everything.

We've got The Witcher 2 Extended for 360 and PC.

We've got Tribes: Ascend (That's up to you)

We've got Deus Ex: Human Revolution for the MAC (I think that counts).

We've got Battleship based off the wonderful movie based off a ... board game. (Yup).

We've got Prototype 2 (the first one was crap)

We've got Minecraft for the XBLA (Oh yeah!)

We have May Payne 3 (Because we needed another)

We've got Spellforce 2: Faith in Destiny (Cult following)

We've got Dragon's Dogma which I expect will be in the nominations.

We've got Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier & Online.

We've got Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion

We've got The Secret World.

We've got Darksiders II (Lolllllllllll)

We've got Dark Souls for the PC.

We've got Borderlands 2.

We've got BioShock Infinite

We've got Resident Evil 6

We've got Medal of Honor: Warfighter

We've got Aliens: Colonial Marines

We've got Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition

We've got Call of Duty 9

We've got Brothers in Arms: Furious 4

We've got Dishonored

We've got End of Nations

We've got DotA 2 (And they can't even label it properly in their own labels)

We've got Hitman: Absolution.

We've got Halo 4

We've got Kingdom Under Fire II

We've got Guild Wars 2

We've got Fable: The Journey

We've got MechWarrior Online

We've got Orcs Must Die! 2

We've got Prey 2

We've got War of the Roses

We've got Torchlight II

We've got Tomb Raider (Reboot)

We've got XCOM: Enemy Unknown (Reboot)

We've got X Rebirth

We've apparently also got Far Cry 3 (I personally hate Far Cry)

So... to get GOTY they need to beat every single one of those.

After the initial IGN and PC gamer inflations, their metacritic score decreased from 92 to 89. Not that it matters much but still a small detail to keep in mind.

My answer to OP: No x12. Mass Effect series self-destructed itself in such a way that the echoes of the explosion will be heard in the years to come in our galaxy.

When I recently read Gabe Newell's press release, I thought Valve really does it right when it comes to not releasing any info about Half-Life 3. They clearly don't wanna create hype and then disappoint fans. They have established themselves as a good company, and seem to be creating comfortable conditions for themselves to develop the game of the decade, without any deadline pressures, without publisher demands (such as the way EA does) --- I think the self-destruction of Mass Effect franchise is also something they are absolutely aware of, and maybe, something that they will be studying.

So Skyrim was last year's GoTY right? We have Diablo 3 this year and maybe other big titles in summer; I hardly think that Mass Effect 3 could get GoTY after what happened.

A contender, but not a winner.

Thats depending on the rest of the year though.....still have Max Payne 3, GTA V(2012?), and Far Cry 3.

Those are apparently what you think the biggest blockbusters will be?

You should review the list or the one I posted above your post.

I'll add FC though, GTA isn't coming 2012.

I was under the impression that we were all giving our own opinion.

If the free DLC this summer is kick-ass and they really nail it, then yes absolutely. For me personally, the only other contender for my own personal GOTY is going to be Assassin's Creed 3.

AC3? maybe thatd be nice since AC2 was really awesome and for 2009 was my game of the year way better than ****gy MW2 but for me either AC3 or Halo 4 will be top dog maybe GTA5 but a free roam sandbox idk it depends if the story can live up to RDR abd GTA4

GTA5 will be 2013, so that won't factor in this year.

Sorry, no GOTY for a buggy rushed game with a CRAP ending. Then again the paid critics "loved" this game...

No. Unless the DLC is absolutely amazing and lasts longer than 5 minutes. For me, I personally disliked the side quests, lack of player input dialogue, and of course, the ending. Those 3 points severely hindered the replay ability of the game for me.

Yeah, you know what? Any other studio could put out that ending and it wouldn't be nearly as widely hated as it seems to be at the moment. It was an awesome game, and without the super high expectations placed on it because it said Bioware on the box, it would have been lauded and praised. So as a stand alone game, yes it is GOTY worthy. The original Mass Effect was still better though imho.

We merely expected what they promised us when the game went gold.

The fault is their own.
