How does the voting for GOTY work? Everything depends on who gets to vote.

GOTY is decided by magazines, review sites etc who each might have their own award. it's not handed out by any one specific organization like for example the Oscars is for movies.

If GOTY is decided by magazines that have a vested interest in EA, then there is a chance it could win GOTY.

In gamers have a vote, there is ZERO CHANCE. In fact, ME3 might win Most Disappointing Game in North America. Heh.

If gamers have the option to vote for it, they will just bomb it because of the endings. The game is 10/10, I hate the ending just as anyone else but if you say it doesn't deserve 10/10 for the other 95% of the game you are wrong and ignorant.

Its not only GOTY, it is the GOTY so far. Are you seriously going to tell me that any other game can get you emotionally involved and make you care about pixels as ME does? Most of the famous games this year are all about gameplay and no story whatsoever, so I could care less about any of them.

Mass Effect makes me love my characters, Mass Effect 3 makes me hate what the game industry has devolved into..

In my opinion it's not GOTY worthy. Not because of the ending, but because it seemed rushed, further watered down from ME2 and somewhat lacking in content. It's a good, solid game, but I don't consider it exceptional.

It has a good chance of winning though.

If we ever get a complete Edition of all 3 Mass Effect Games updated and put together without changing anything, then I say it is GOTY-worthy. The way it is now, nope. But before I make a final decision, I´ll wait for the Extended Cut and other DLC. Oh, and ditch MP and make it a completely independent game like ME: Team Assault. I would totally buy that.

Both of us know there are other worthy games that haven't been released yet. We're only 33% through the year. Or is the GOTY not based on a calendar year?

Like others have said - no, and not just because of the ending. There are some moments it does really well, but most of it seems rushed, incomplete, nonsensical and of course you do have to take into account the ending.

Did the critics that gave high score even finish the game?
ME3 cannot be game of the year - why? The ending. Simple as that. Ending sequence cannot introduce new aspects-/inclinations that break the LORE of the universe (*never ever*) - oh, and have three colours to choose from and not the 16 totally different ones as promised (to Kalah).. well.. te game has dropped from 699SEK to 399SEK Artistic integrity?

C'mon, Ass Creed, Bioshock, Max Payne, and Halo all have a shot at GOTY. It's not a shoo-in for ME3. There are probably other contenders as well. The year is still young.

They are good, previous Halo games have won before.

People are going to flip **** when a game which they can not even play wins GOTY. In my opinion that would just be an insult to PC and PS3 gamers.
