Mass Effect 3 should get worst game of the year award.

You mean you liked the crappy quest system, crappy eavesdropping missions, scanning, auto-dialog, etc.?

I had high hopes for Mass Effect 3. Most of the game lived up to my expectations, but there were things that never came to fruition that I was really expecting.
Remember getting the message from the Rachni queen on Illium, and she said "we shall burn the darkness clean"?
To me, that suggested the Rachni would serve a more direct and obvious role in the fight against the reapers. The rachni were a major story point in the game, I mean, you encounter the SAME queen in all 3 games.
You didn't get back most of your squadmates... I was hoping for at least Wrex.
Then the wonky ending. From what I have seen, the ending is pretty much hated universally. Like 80-90% hate, 10-20% like.
IF the ending had just made more sense while still being the same ending, I think it would've been much better received. The ending was sloppy and maybe even seemed a bit rushed. Hopefully the DLC will make it better, I have my fingers crossed. BioWare still a great developer with a great history of games (excluding DA2 and ToR), and I haven't really given up on them. I paid nearly $90 after tax for my CE of Mass Effect 3, and considering I haven't touched the game in over a month now I am starting to regret buying it. I figured it'd be like ME2, which I put 260 hours into. And I paid $49.99 on Steam for that one.
ME3 should've set its stages better, and should've remained more cohesive at the end. What if some anti-Reaper machine or organic race showed up near the end, instead of having to rely on a "catalyst" ending? Even though it still would've been a deus ex machina ending, it would've just made more sense and not gone all wonky.
Anyway, I kinda got off my own topic, but I think ME3 should have been GOTY worthy. Why did they compromise so much?
I don't think it will end up being GOTY, unless the extended cut DLC is received to great praise. Even still, an at least $70 game, and they have to do an extended cut DLC... Just shows sloppiness all around. It probably won't end up making GOTY. Even though it deserved it.
I think Max Payne 3 might be GOTY material tho.

That would imply that the GOTY title has any actual worth. It's just a way for video game publications to suck up to whatever the most popular game was that year.

Most of the bugs in skyrim were quickly fixed though, and the story was never screwed over.Yakko77 wrote...
Skyrim got GOTY, bugs and all so I guess ME3 can get it even with a craptacular ending.

Minimal? They took away your control of the events taking place in an unacceptable way, and made the game much harder to play.napushenko wrote...

same as liked i crappy mineral scanning, no vertical combat, crappy level design with all boxes, crappy mercenaries everywhere, much less dialogue, etc in me 2 and crappy generic mountains, crappy same generic areas in side missions, mhm, crappy loads of useless weapons etc in me 1.
they didnt make me hate the game, why should some minimal things like that crappy journal planet clicking which is better then me 2 crappy planet clicking make me hate the game ?
and auto-dialog was great, felt movie like, besides, every important conversation had dialogue tree. and im willing to bet that number of times you can use dialogue tree was about the same as in me 1.
besides, you can just put crappy journal for eavesdrop quests- missions scanning, cause is the same thing. and a lil bit better then crappy mineral scanning. same thing again.
i dont know how your sensible taste managed to recieve all that crappines in first two parts. i didnt mind them, so.
