It is worthy of "Most disappointing game of 2012" but not GOTY.
Vote for MDGOTY! It is a solid winner in that catagory!
Also, the year hasn't ended yet. Good games (with proper, logical endings) can come out before the end of the year. For instance, Half Life 2: Episode 3 is coming out later this year. Half Life will ALWAYS be a GOTY-worthy game series. Episode 3 will easily best ME3.
The only thing HF is missing at this point is the abiltiy to interact with the other characters in a more RPG-ish mode. It wasn't setup that way initially but it would be great to take it there. You can be absolutely certain there will be NO Red, Blue, or Green ending! That is GOTY-worthy in itself!

unfortunatly this just highlighted how disapointing the ending of MA3 is
please have a decent extended cut

Skyrim got GOTY, bugs and all so I guess ME3 can get it even with a craptacular ending.

Mass Effect 3 was also plagued with bugs. It just happened to be 300 times smaller.

I just don't think ME3 has that.
Certainly a contender though.

Its a pretty good game, but it just doesn't feel like game of the year material - game of the year needs to have a game that is not necessarily flawless from start to finish, but it needs to suck you in, keep you engaged and feeling totally satisfied when the end credits roll up.

hate to beat the dead horse, but skyrim won last year and it didn't do any of that for me.
where as ME3 is a game that makes grown men cry like babies, like or don't like the ending, its few games that can acomplish some thing like that.

Oh for sure, but being able to pull a few heart strings probably isn't enough to push it over the line.

Not necessarily - I've seen people get misty at TV commercials they catch out the corner of their eye.
..but its not just one or two scenes that need to suck you in, its the whole game - and most critic reviews and fan reviews lean towards that for Skyrim. Where the line for ME3 is more along it being entertaining as opposed to being involving. Either way, we'll have to wait and see. There are a lot of games coming out this year, so who knows what we'll get.

Max Payne 3 is already out and neither fans nor critics are praising it very highly so it's out of the GOTY race. Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite got delayed till 2013.MerchantGOL wrote...

EC will decide whether ME3 will be a heavy contender to GOTY or not.

Yeah, I'm in a similar boat. TR and MP haven't really got me interested (I was a huge fan of the first two Max Paynes and this one is..meh, not doing it for me) - but Halo. Yeah, I'm really interested to see where they go with that.

The bugs alone would disqualify it, I'd think (or at least it should).

MP3 never looked any ultra special, but Tomb Raider reboot was Top 5 at last E3. 2013 GOTY will probably be between GTA5, Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite. Maybe The Last of Us too if it's extremly good (because zombie's attack surely ain't exciting nor fresh idea, especially this generation)Icinix wrote...

Skyrim says hi.
The game play and story is a hell of allot better then the previous GOTY, and it dosent have half the bugs and the bugs it dose have are minor.
