Yeah, I'm in a similar boat. TR and MP haven't really got me interested (I was a huge fan of the first two Max Paynes and this one is..meh, not doing it for me) - but Halo. Yeah, I'm really interested to see where they go with that.

MP3 never looked any ultra special, but Tomb Raider reboot was Top 5 at last E3. 2013 GOTY will probably be between GTA5, Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite. Maybe The Last of Us too if it's extremly good (because zombie's attack surely ain't exciting nor fresh idea, especially this generation)

Yeah just haven't seen anything Tomb Raider beyond the cinematic, and my first thought was the voice acting was terrible - yeah - call me names, I feel bad since its so well loved but it didn't catch me.

Infinite really is intersting but the dark horse could be dishonoured (which is looking very, very intriguing) ... although from what I'm hearing about Black Ops 2 and its potential branching story lines - that could end up being a surprise too. Although, I'm skeptical about a franchise being in a box for ten years suddenly hitting one out of the park.

Its probably up for worst game of the year. Biggest budget, biggest delay, and worst ending in the hostory of gaming. All because Casey and Mac didn't want the game to be too 'gamey'.

****ing ridiculous.

I get being butt hurt enough to say its not GOTY when it is but worst ****ing game of the year?

In a year with Game of thrones, Ninja gaiden 3, Neverdead, Serious Sam, and Amy !?!?

Is the voting based on the core game or is expansions and DLC taken into accont as well?. If it's just the core game then I don't think so. If the add ons help deterrmine the recipient of GOTY award, well we'll just have to wait and see.

If ME3 does get the GOTY , I wonder what EAWare's repsonse to the fans will be. I surely hope they don't rub our noses in it and tell us "whiny, entitled " folks where to go. They wouldn't do that would they?
I mean they have already alienated alot of us. But I really shouldn't speculate.

lul no. COD hasn't won a single GOTY at either BAFTAs, Interactive Achievement Awards, Game Developers Choice Awards os Spike's VGAs since 2007 with Modern Warfare.

No, Mass Effect 3 is a good game, but it's not GOTY material in my opinion.

Yep. And no wonder, each COD since Modern Warfare is basically a clone of the previous one with cosmetic improvements. BLOPS2 won't be much different.

As far as the games you mentioned...

GoT has terrible gameplay and characters, but the story is apparently really good. NG3 doesn't deserve the vitriol slung its way - it changed a few gameplay mechanics, and it's still fairly solid. Neverdead has terrible gameplay, but at least the "detached limbs" concept is a novel one. Serious Sam (3?) was great. Amy was garbage.

ME3 is nowhere near the bottom, but it isn't near the top either. It's just...average.

I wouldn't say it's the worst game of the year, but it's pretty down there. As for Serious Sam, I would have to disagree, I love that game, while it isnt exactly GOTY material, I still love it

If you are putting your emotions aside when voting, then I don't possibly see how it could be worthy.

The bugs alone would disqualify it, I'd think (or at least it should).

Skyrim says hi.

The game play and story is a hell of allot better then the previous GOTY, and it dosent have half the bugs and the bugs it dose have are minor.

Excuse me? MINOR? Here's a quick summary of my SP experience:

-It crashed my 360 more times than Fallout 3 and New Vegas COMBINED - six times in total.
-I lost count of how many times the character Shep was talking to vanished, leaving me talking to a wall.
-Squadmates getting stuck in the geometry at least 3 times, that I can remember.
-One occurence of an NPC getting stretched to about twice her actual height, which was strange, but then Shep looking straight up to keep eye contact made me LOL.

You may have somehow been lucky enough not to get these bugs (unlike many, MANY others), but don't think you are a valid representation of the customer base. Take a look at the bug threads, and be grateful for your luck.

Add to that the stripped-down and useless journal system, the idiotic "reapers chase my toy normandy" mechanic (made pointless by the fact that I could just re-enter the system over and over until I got what I needed), and all of that auto-dialogue, and you get a "**** no" for GOTY.

Unfortunately it does. I agree with the 2400 minutes of awesomeness too. What a damn shame the ending was so ridiculous and incoherent.

GOT Graphics were so bad that the storyline isn't even worth it

NG3 took out every thing that was goo about the serise, people make fun of BW for their artistic integrity but NG3 is what happens when you dont have any, the boss fights were a joke, it was easy, their was no skill or customization, or  unluckables, it was just terrible all around

never dead took a cool idea and excuted it so poorly no one will ever try it again.

given the costumer dissatisfaction, if it won the goty, the gaming awards would lose massive credibility.

You just lost all credibility for bringing graphics into play, first of all, the graphics were fine, and secondly, graphics should only take up a very small portion of an opinion, graphics don't make the game.

I thought the award was for Best GAME of the year not best ENDING. sure an ending can play a role in the overall score but at best 0.5 of the score. unless you are very bad at reviewing

The ending is what most people remember after they finish playing a game / watching a movie / reading a book.  The ending can easily make or break the whole story.  The Mass Effect 3 ending is broken and not only ruined replayability for Mass Effect 3, but for the entire trilogy as well.

This. This, this, this, and even more this!

After sinking hundreds of hours into this franchise I can promise you I will never touch the game again. EXCEPT, of course, to dl the "extended cut," which I'm sure will only make me wish I really had stopped playing at Marauder Shields.

The ending is incoherent and negated by the story.

"Synthetics always kill organics???"

No. They don't.
