I love how people bring up Tuchanka and Rannoch.
2 good parts.
Thats it. So me saying Rachni choice means nothing is fine because of Tuchanka?
The collector base is fine because of Rannoch?
It doesn't cancel it out and if it did there would be much more examples of my choice not mattering.
Wrex is dead at the end of 2? Fine we'll just put Wreav in his place and have it be exactly the same.
Mordin? Someone else can replace him.
Pisses you off that I noticed how blatantly phoned in the game is?
Who here has more a right to be pissed off? The one who can enjoy the game or the one who cant?
Give me a godamn break I won't even register my copy here because I don't even want it showing up under my picture thats how much I think it sucks.

That's not quite fair. Wrex and Wreav's motivations are very different and give different weights to your decision on handling the Krogan. Wrex gives two pretty different performances based on what you did with Mordin's data as well.

Mordin and his replacement could have used some more divergence however.

Correct, but...
Is that the best you can do?

I'm not sure what you're asking.

In response to the title, yes. It very much is worth it. We have a terrible ending, and broken promises galore but that only matters to the people who are not immersed in the world. It doesn't mean anything for the people testing the game JUST to see if it's worthy of a nomination or a vote.

However, as far as I know, most game award things rely on community vote, and the community is so hurt that the ending was bad that the game isn't going to see a GOTY award. It certainly could though. Most of the game is fantastic.

No.It was a ok game and the only reason it was ok was Two Awesome Missions and the quest that were part of it.The rest was mediocre to me.Journals and all the other parts that have been mention thousands of times before.

There was more to his comment than just that.

I don't have anything else to say about the rest of his points. Or are you implying that I took what he said out of context?

I brought up Tuchanka and Rannoch because they were the first two to come to mind but fine, the mission aboard the Geth Ship where you meet Legion was another favourite of mine along with the missions of Sur'Kesh and Thessia, all of those missions were great.

And no it doesn't but then again, the Rachni mission is good in itself, what lets it down is there is no visualisation of the Rachni in the final assault, that's the gripe with that mission and it does matter, you either kill of a species or choose to save it, that's a pretty major choice. The collector base was mainly a ME2 thing but again, it is the fundumental choice which decides what path the rest of the game takes, it's a big choice which is reflected.

Wrex and Wreav are VERY differen characters, Wrex wants to stop he fighting and unite the clans for the better of Tuchanka while Wreav doesn't give a damn about that, they're two different characters.

I've never experienced Mordin's replacements but from the videos I've seen and from other people who have experienced him, he is a short but endiring character that many people liked but also majorly affects the outcome of the Tuchanka mission.

And no it doesn't ****** me off because I think out arguments are quite weak and everyone has the right to be pissed off, you have the right to be pissed off at the game while I have the right to call you out on why you think the game is "the worst game of the decade".

And I'm just countering the points you made about the game, that's all and if you don't want to register your copy then that's your preogative, even if I find it somewhat silly.

To be honest the game itself is actually pretty bad. It's not Game of the Year material. There are a lot of things about it that scream "lazy" and "rushed".

Personally, I think that's the case with all three games. It's just that the parts that were rushed in each case were different, so their overall effect on my enjoyment varied.

Care to elaborate or is generalising a valid form of argument these days?

No. Not even close. On top of the all the other obvious reasons why not, they removed being able to holster your weapon. That's almost as stupid as... releasing Dragon Age 2. Or TOR.

I said almost.

To the Casual gamers it's GOTY worthy.
To the die-hard Mass Effect fans like us, it's not. Because we see the plot holes, the lazy fetch quests, the characters not being used right (aswell as some ****ty dialogue from said characters) and everything like that. No doubt big gaming internet companies like IGN and Gamespot will be calling Mass Effect 3 the game of the year, or atleast the candidate. But in my opinion, the first time around play Mass Effect 3 I loved it, til the ending. The Second time playing ME3, I hated it from what I said above.

But in 2012 I don't think Mass Effect 3 will be GOTY. Look at all the games that have come out/will be coming out in the year... You got:

Hitman. (Dark Horse IMO)
Max Payne 3. Rockstar just keep delivering classics.
Halo 4.
Borderlands 2.
Far Cry 3.
God of War: Ascension

They are all chances to take GOTY.

All negatives:
- Deus ex machina being the only solution to the Reaper threat.
- Auto-dialogue taking choice away from the player.
- Trivialization of the decision to kill Wrex or keep him alive. Tuchanka plays out basically the same.
- Trivialization of the Suicide Mission with simple replacements for secondary characters.
- Rachni decision from Mass Effect doesn't matter. We still run into some "clone".
- Lack of squad member customization appearance wise. That was a problem in Mass Effect 2 as well though.
- Atrocious cover mechanic consistency. Button mapping is a nightmare for game usability.
- Collector base decision? Oh look, it doesn't matter. What else is new though?
- Horrible animations.

I could list more but I don't feel like it.

You're right. Holstering weapons was obviously so critical to the Mass Effect experience. Some might say it's defined by it. Image IPB

I dont know if it was pointed out before but:

Bioshock infinite - Release date(s)
February 26, 2013 - so definately not GOTY of 2012

Halo 4 - Platform(s) Xbox 360 - so definately not PC GOTY

I think The main PC competition will by between ME3, SC II (if it comes in 2012) and AC 3 .

Diablo III is fun but it lacks that 'something', and Max payne 3, i don't know i never liked the series.

Mass effect 3 is not perfect (no game is). However even with the bad animations and the lack of dialogue options, it is above and beyond everything that was released in 2011 (including skyrim) and problaby better than the AAA games that are coming out in 2012. Playing through it was an amazing ride that I will remember for a long time. No game has ever made me feel like ME3 did on Tuchanka, Rannoch, Thessia and during the first half of earth.

Even though mass effect 3 has many great moments and the superior combat/game mechanics, I still belive that Mass effect 1 is the best game in the trilogy and probably my nr 1 game of the decade. The roleplaying and the story in that game was absolutely fantastic.

Now if bioware could combine the combat system from ME3 with the story and the roleplaying from ME1 (with next gen visuals aca unreal engine 4) in a ME prequel then we would have an insanely epic game.
