For fans, just dissapointment.
For critics, it will be GOTY.

Not with the current (or extended) ending. Just NO.
Borderlands, ME2, Batman arkham asylum, Fallout 3, Bioshock, Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, Metal Gear Solid 2 and MGS4.
All these games had really terrible endings.
All these games won numerous GOTY awards

Of course it's various reviewers who decide on their game of the year, and from what I've heard, a lot of professional writers don't seem to have a problem with the endings.

I agree. I think fans will say no, critics will say yes, they already have according to ME3 advertisements

For me, all that matters is consumer reviews.

I don't know about the Halo and MGS but here's what I can say about the other on that list :
Only Borderland had a sucky ending (I liked all the other's), the ending was somewhat worse than ME3 since it was a repeat of the already sucky ending og HL:OpFor. Errare humanum est, perseverare diabolicum.
However I enjoyed playing Borderlands, ME2, Batman Arkham Asylum, Fallout 3, and Bioshock more than playing ME3. Regardless of the ending.
I enjoyed playing ME1 more than those games though.
ME3 is not my game of the year, but to each his own.

out of ten its an 8.2 for me but its not game of the year worthy
why its not for me:
The action button has too many commands and should have influenced the use of anther button/Right stick:click(consoles).
The cover system is even more flawed then me2s cover system
The RPG elements are decent but feel more skin then actually use
The Mulitplayer load from invs is dumb and the journal needs a tweak
everything else is fine and ME3 is a good game(including the end)

Intersting list thanks.
For the 2011 winners I played both Portal 2 and Skyrim and loved them both. Biggest difference to me is I beat P2 in 11 hours and it has ZERO replay value since once you figured out a puzzle, you got it. Skyrim I've just went over 550+ hours and am still waiting to try new characters. Pretty soon I'll actually be at the point where Skyrim cost me only 10 cents an hour to play. That's freaking incredible when I'm not even tired of it yet.
It's almost sad to see ME2 in those numbers, knowing that ME3 should have followed suit, but just failed because of the rush job BioWarEA did.

Pure awesomeness of eavesdropping a conversation, then going to scan clusters and play Benny Hill with the Reapers? Pure awesomeness of squadmates having barely anything to say? Pure awesomeness of majority of past choices forgotten, character X replaced with character Y or the X appears anyway? Pure awesomeness of combat that still can't match up to the best systems? Pure awesomeness of building an epic army and then noticing they decided to ditch the final battle anyway?
The game had around 20 minutes of pure awesomeness IMO (final resolutions of Tuchanka and Rannoch and some smaller bits here and there). Those were 10/10 material while most is 8 or 7, with the ending being a 3. If a 7/10 wins any sort of GOTY I'm really dissapointed with the games of 2012.

Its good - but not Game of the Year worthy. Even ending aside, there is too much in the game which is left a bit empty, and a lot of missed opportunities.
Its a good game, but not that good.

Lol, I wrote to him about the problems regarding the face import situation, but he didn't end up writing a story on it.
