Who saved the Turian Head command, bringing the Turians onboard?
Me.
Who Ended the Krogan genophage, bringing the Krogans onboard?
Me.
Who ended the war between Quarians and Geth, bringing both races onboard?
Me.
Who gained the support of the Omega Mercs?
Me.
Who gained support of the Rachni?
Me.
Who gained Asari support?
Me.
Who brought the entire galaxy together in mere weeks?
Me.

So who the living FRACK does this Admiral Hackett thinks he is to give the "Rallying Speech" to the troops before the big push?

Wouldn't the other races be like, "Who the heck is that? I'm here for Shepard!"

Admiral Hackett- the Kanye West of Mass Effect.

Hey hey cmon now...did you forget that before the final "mission"...pft please.....you get to give a craptastic motivational speech that is the worst motivational speech of all time to the grand and gallant assortment of your 6 person squad and two random soldiers?!

Screw the combined forces of the galaxy combined in one fleet on MY ship, giving a lackluster speech to EIGHT FU**ING PEOPLE is where the glory's at!

/end sarcasm

After the scene where Hackett does that my first reaction was "GO BACK TO BAD ALIEN MOVIE SEQUELS YOU HACK!!!! I WILL DESTROY YOU!!!! *Kills Hackett, makes own speech*

Fu** them, I'm a Spectre, I kill who I please, what you want!?

Lackluster speech for a generic cinematic that does not represent your assets in any way shape or form, Shepard lucked out. If he gave a great speech, his squad would've probably offed themselves at the end. At least with hacket doing the speech, they didn't get their hopes up.

Seriously though. Once you get out of the cerberus base, it just goes down hill.

Admiral Hackett has every right to give a speech from the Normandy. He is your boss. In addition to being Shepard's boss, he is pretty much just a boss.

Does anyone remember the "taking control fo the Normandy" speech from ME1 right after Anderson steps down and Joker asks you what you want to say?

THAT was awesome sauce.

The ONLY good thing about the Hackett speech was the single LONE scene where they show a Turian cruiser being looked at by Turians.

...UNITY!!!

The writing for the speech was bad, the decision to use Hackett was HORRIBLE, and the exposition of the speech itself was very bad, they should have showed more of your allies.

But Hackett coming on board my ship with two soldiers carrying...pistols? REALLY? PISTOLS??!?

just so he could deliver the speech and then call Anderson to say "Its gunna be hardz!" was really REALLY uninspired and just out of place as well as being sloppily done and of low quality.

The Normandy is an Alliance ship. All the soldiers on it are Alliance soldiers. The ship was originally slated to be Anderson's command ship, but the reaper invasion made that impossible. Admiral Hackett is the de-facto commander of the combined military forces of the GALAXY. The speech should probably have been Shepard's to give, but Hackett has more than earned the right as well, and well, Rank Hath Its Privileges.

No, he hasn't.

He never got his hands dirty.
Never was in danger.
Never helped Shepard.

In fact, evidence points towards Hackett being the TRUE LEADER OF CERBERUS.

Bull****

At the very beginning he fought the Reapers initial assault HEAD-ON and had to turn tail and run when the alliance and its government was pretty much decapitated.

just because it happened off-screen doesn't mean it didn't happen.

On a different note. Hackett should have gave his speech on his own ship. Coming on the normandy just seemed a waste. "I'm going to go over from my badass dreadnought to this tiny little frigate with privacy issues and give my speech there!."

Admiral Hackett can do what he wants. Why? Because he is Admiral ****ing Hackett.

Asset reuse. The scene of Hackett boarding the Normandy was probably slated for the beginning of the game and the inquiry/debriefing/trial that got skipped over. Rather than throw the scene away, it was reused for the end of the game because the work had already been done.

This.

He's your boss, OP, he can do whatever the **** he wants. Not to mention that while Shepard is off buying flowers for people on the citadel and trying to bang Liara, Hackett is, you know, responsible for leading the -entire- Alliance military and is the de facto leader of humanity once Udina bites it.

My Shepard didn't do either of those things. Who can you buy flowers for anyway?

Ashley, actually - check the Sirta kiosk at Huerta Memorial the first time you're on the Citadel. There's a bunch of gifts you can get her.

Flowers is the lame one, though, for best results buy the Tennyson collection.

But Lance Henriksen's voice is cooler than Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale's combined. So he has the right.

While

Shepard > Hackett,

Admiral > Commander

Shepard knows how to take orders when needed- even a completely Renegade Shepard can't commandeer the Normandy and turn it into a pirate vessel (sorry ME2 Jack). Shepard's personality is still bound by rules, and one of them is that he obeys the chain of command.

Oh, I had Kaidan alive in my game; that'd explain it.

Given the endings, that's probably the perfect place to turn off the game.

I didn't mind Hackett giving a speech. The problem I had was the specific speech he gave being a letdown.

Screw him. Where was he when I died? Not helping.

Where was he during my court case, where he could have pointed out I was acting on his direct orders? Hiding in the corner like a baby. He sent me but in no way helped me out in return.

Hackett oversees the creation of the Crucible. He may lead the human, but I'm the one getting out of my comfy ship and forging alliances and am in many ways the leader of the GALAXY.

Anderson fights with the resistance, on foot, without a ship's armour between him and death.

Hackett? Hides behind ship armour.

I think Hackett also is off buying flowers for people in the fleet and trying to bang ant cute officers. Just because it happens off-camera doesn't mean it didn't happen.

If I can tell Rear Admiral Mikhailovich
masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Rear_Admiral_Mikhailovich

to take a running jump, I see no reason I can't tell Hackett the same.

Actually, he's not.

Anderson reinstated me. Anderson's my boss.

Hackett can eat me.

I told you, MY Shepard has no respect for Hackett.

Yours can, if you want to.

Shepard should have been promoted.

If Ashley or Kaiden get promoted for . . . uh . . . hanging around a colony . . .

Why doesn't Shepard get made Admiral? Or at least Captain?

This sort of idiocy on the part of Alliance Brass means that, in my playthrough, I saw no need to save the Alliance Council from death at the beginning of ME3.

I'm a Spectre- eat me, Alliance.
