It really should have been Shepard who gave the big speech to the fleets. It's Shepard they know and Shepard they respect. It was very jarring when Hackett came on board with an armed guard (seriously, why the guards?) and took over and delivered a speech to the fleets. Why would he even do that? Shouldn't it be someone they recognise? At the very least get the councillors to do it. It just doesn't make sense. Shepard made great speeches (both as paragon and renegade) in the previous games, so why not now? Seriously, I want to know why.

While

Shepard knows how to take orders when needed- even a completely Renegade Shepard can't commandeer the Normandy and turn it into a pirate vessel (sorry ME2 Jack). Shepard's personality is still bound by rules, and one of them is that he obeys the chain of command.

Shepard should have been promoted.

If Ashley or Kaiden get promoted for . . . uh . . . hanging around a colony . . .

Why doesn't Shepard get made Admiral? Or at least Captain?

This sort of idiocy on the part of Alliance Brass means that, in my playthrough, I saw no need to save the Alliance Council from death at the beginning of ME3.

I'm a Spectre- eat me, Alliance.

Because he/she died, joined a terrorist orginization, killed thousands of Batarians, got put into house arrest, and then flew off to kill the Reapers.

Not much time for a promotion.

Systems Alliance command was pretty much wiped out during the initial assaults on Arcturus Station and Earth, more or less leaving Admiral Hacket in charge of the entire war. While you're making alliances, acting as his ambassador I might add, he's pretty much filling the role of Joint Chief of Staff for the entire combined fleets and the construction of the Crucible.

I don't think you fully understand the role Admiral Hacket plays behind the scenes.

Also Hackett along with Anderson have kept the Alliance of him/her while he/she worked with Cerberus he also delayed his/her trial for the events of Arrival. Without Anderson and Hackett Shepard would not have been the person that the Galxey respects he's one of the people responsible for Shepard's success

When he stood up and spoke, I was like "WTF".
I wish there was a Renegade Interrupt option where you nudge him out of the way and interrupt his speech and make your own.

"I don't take orders from you any more, remember?"
"Consider yourself reinstated . . . Admiral."

See, only took 1 more second.

If he can reinstate me on the spot, he can promote me on the spot.

Shepard for the Alliance is also one Commandar not more, yes she is an N7, this is an spacial forces,

and Shepard is the maximum autority in the question about the Citadel Space

normal the Commander its able to aperate above the other governments and administrations,

but not for Alliance, bacause Shepard is first an Human Soldier,

dem i'm a Specter, i'm not one simple soldier

Actually, he's not.

Anderson reinstated me. Anderson's my boss.

Hackett can eat me.

I told you, MY Shepard has no respect for Hackett.

Yours can, if you want to.

The minute Anderson reinstates you, Hackett's your boss.

Chain of command, don't-ya-know.

Anderson- my Shepard respects 100%.

Hackett- not at all.

Hackett only delayed my trial so I could go take care of his "Dirty Little Secret". Once I'd done that, he disavowed all knowledge of the direct orders he'd gave me. He made sure I had no teammates to back up my story and gave the orders surrupticiously.

Then after I'd done EVERYTHING he asks, I get put on trial and he disappears, leaving it to ANDERSON to help ou?

Gimme a break.

But when you realise that Hackett is actually the true head of Cerberus
social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/347/index/11349228/1#11350206

Then it makes sense.

Remember, I'm speaking of what MY Shepard thinks.

Yours is free to look at this differently.

TIM aka Jack haper is the one in charge in Cerberus as seen in the Evolution comic's
http://masseffect.wi...fect:_Evolution

Also "Your preaching to the chior commander if it were up to me I'd give you a damn medal" That's Hackett's view regarding Shepard's action's during Arival

Which he says in private.

In public he denies involvement in Arrival and stands by when Shepard is grounded and has her ship taken away.

Admiral Hackett? Good afternoon.

Hacket denies involvement to prevent a war with the batarians, even Shepard acknowledges this during the dialog regardless of paragon/renegade choice (I played both).

^The whole Shepard on trial things was a set up so the Alliance wouldn't be at war with the Batarian's when the Reaper's arrive, also Shepard willfully (not sure if its a real word) took full responsibility for those events

EDIT: I just got 'd

Lance Henriksen could snort helium and he'd still sound like he went through more than one puberty.

MuadDib, he does not stand by idly.  He runs interfernce for you as long as he can so you can complete ME2.  He says as much.

Did you do LoTSB?  The dossier has him curtly denying the request of some overeager intelligence officer who wants to detain Shepard and interrogate Shep over a matter of months.

You're just bound damned and determined to hate Hackett no matter what flimsy basis you use that gets shot down in short order, aren't you?

"Is that why they grounded me? Took away my Ship?"

Not

"Is that why they grounded me? Accepted my gift of a ship?"

Shepard never took false responsibility.

Well, mine didn't, anyway.

So who the living FRACK does this Admiral Hackett thinks he is to give the "Rallying Speech" to the troops before the big push?

Wouldn't the other races be like, "Who the heck is that? I'm here for Shepard!"

Admiral Hackett- the Kanye West of Mass Effect.

He's the ADMIRAL he's leading the damn fleet Commander!

"I'll glady stand trail"

Shepard being grounded and being striped of his/her rank etc. is most likely just standard Alliance protocol, again its just for show to aviod a war with the Batarian's

I made note of this in one of my earlier posts.

Especially here.

social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/347/index/11349228/1#11350475

"During ME2, Alliance types try to shut Shepard down (you see this in
files from Shadow Broker). Who shuts down investigations into Shepard,
over and over?

Hackett."

MY Shepard hates Hackett. Full stop.

If yours does not, that's fine.

You cannot convince my Shepard to like him, and I amn slightly insulted that you're suggesting I play  ME1- ME3 the same way you do.

My choice to be Renegade or Paragon, my choice to save Wrex or not.

My choice to hate Hackett.

Not so difficult to understand.

He does not have the right to when he's doing nothing more than riding my coattails.

Without me, he'd have no fleet to lead.

REMINDER- I am talking about MY Shepard.

If your Shepard loves Hackett, that's fine.

I'm talking of MY choices here, not yours.
