Actually, he's not.

Anderson reinstated me. Anderson's my boss.

Hackett can eat me.

I told you, MY Shepard has no respect for Hackett.

Yours can, if you want to.

You ever heard of chain of command there buddy, Admiral pretty much outranks commander, so regardless of who reinstates you your below an Admiral...way below.

MY Shepard hates Hackett. Full stop.

If yours does not, that's fine.

You cannot convince my Shepard to like him, and I amn slightly insulted that you're suggesting I play  ME1- ME3 the same way you do.

My choice to be Renegade or Paragon, my choice to save Wrex or not.

My choice to hate Hackett.

Not so difficult to understand.

Too bad. Alliance ship, Alliance rules, Hackett has every right to come on board if he pleases. You may have noticed that the other races don't take orders from Shepard, they take orders from Hackett. That's because he's a Fleet Admiral, a five-star rank. Shepard's not even a flag officer. He might recruit races, but he can't lead them.

Not so difficult to understand.

He's the ADMIRAL he's leading the damn fleet Commander!

He does not have the right to when he's doing nothing more than riding my coattails.

Without me, he'd have no fleet to lead.

REMINDER- I am talking about MY Shepard.

If your Shepard loves Hackett, that's fine.

I'm talking of MY choices here, not yours.

You clearly have no Idea how the military works, if you do, you have no Idea how any branch of the military with any  cooth, like a marines or navy operate.

In ME1 Hacket makes it very clear that Spectres answer only to the Council

Doesn't matter. Shepard still has to play by the Alliance's rules.

Otherwise they can just take back the state-of-the-art stealth frigate and all the crew to run it they loaned out to him.

YOUR Shepard is still a solider. A solider does not give two ****s about your choices. It is a Alliance ship and the commander of the Alliance forces can give a speech from it if he feels like it and no matter who you think your Shepard is he is still a lower ranking officer and is showing the respect due to a field commander.

Deal with it because that is how it should be.

My only real problem with the scene is that there are two marines with their sidearms drawn but then again bad times breed paranoia.

Why doesn't Shepard get made Admiral? Or at least Captain?

This sort of idiocy on the part of Alliance Brass means that, in my playthrough, I saw no need to save the Alliance Council from death at the beginning of ME3.

I'm a Spectre- eat me, Alliance.

And that attitude is precisely the reason why Hackett is in charge. You're a loose cannon Shepard - Stand down, and thats an order

Also "Your preaching to the chior commander if it were up to me I'd give you a damn medal" That's Hackett's view regarding Shepard's action's during Arival

Which he says in private.

In public he denies involvement in Arrival and stands by when Shepard is grounded and has her ship taken away

And this was the smart thing to do. What would it have gained if he spoke up during that trial? Most likely Hackett would've been relieved of command as well, leaving the fleets in the hand of someone who doesn't believe in Shepard and the Reaper threat.

I didn't mind it much, though it would have been nice if my Shep had the chance to deliver an epic speech to the united fleets. You know, like in ME1 when you took control of the Normandy. And with a maxed out reputation you could have used your legendary power of persuasion to have the speech give a bonus to your war assets. That would have been nice.

Just me 2 cents.

Shepard should have given the speech, I agree. It fits with their symbolic role.

On the other hand, Shepard really shouldn't have been issuing orders during the space battle. Let Hackett do that.

Shepard made a speech in London, so I'll give Hackett this one, although his speech could have been better.

My specter status kicks your admiral status in the nuts :)

We're in council space, Shep can do what ever he wants and all with the council's graces :D
And he has more notoriety than Hackett, so its not like anyone is going to say "Aww... I wanted to hear Hackett's speech".

So who the living FRACK does this Admiral Hackett thinks he is to give the "Rallying Speech" to the troops before the big push?

Wouldn't the other races be like, "Who the heck is that? I'm here for Shepard!"

Admiral Hackett- the Kanye West of Mass Effect.

True story.

I thought it seemed a little out of place ... and the speeches were a bit dopey.
Would've preferred something like this.

Hackett is Andersons boss, therefor he's your boss. Also y u mad?

Lol, does giving a speech really mean that much to you?

Though my Shepards a Spectre. So all she's concerned about is the Councils orders, and protecting the Council.. Oh, and saving the Galaxy.

Edited because Femshep is superior.

My Shepard is may be a lower ranking officer, but she will not show the respect due to a field commander. Because he has not earned that respect.

Stand down? Eat me. My Shepard tolerates Hackett- barely. But when the smoke clears she has full intention of kicking Hackett in the nuts.

That's MY Shepard.

ImperatorMortis, Hackett used me to do his dirty work then abandoned me to a kangaroo court when it was all done.

You screw me over, you best sleep with one eye open, Hackett.

Without me, Hackett would be nothing. A commander with no fleet.

I'm supposed to respect him?

He's lucky I don't shoot him.

I admit it did feel weird to me. I thought this would be a repeat of the classic Military/Sci-Fi Admiral move 'nice work, I'll take it from here", but thankfully they didn't go that way.

However the two fully armored body guard felt like a slight to me, it's the normandy's deck not a frontier saloon.

It would have been nice for the most Renegade to be able to do something, not punch him like Han Gerrel but maybe voice your disagreement in private (I doubt Hackett would courtmartial a punching Shepard at this moment but punching him at this point would really not be a smart thing to do either)..
