Reading this thread is quite interesting... as I'm completely new, not only to ME3 multiplayer, but to multiplayer in general.
I never wanted to try it with other games, because I have better things to do than being headshotted 2 seconds after I join a game, or have my sexual orientation or the romantic involvements of my mother questioned by someone who still has to grow hair on his testicles. But with ME3, I thought I'd give it a try, especially because it's not PvP multiplayer.
I had only one semi-bad* experience while playing (about N7 level 15 now), and after reading this thread, I know why. The reasons why you kick players are completely understandable, even to me as a complete newbie.
I don't have the audacity to try and join a game on Silver or Gold on my level.
I actively participate in the game, not just hang around for others to gain XP for me.
I don't go for a smoke or idle around.
If I have to go to the toilet or get a beer or whatever, I get out of the match to free up my slot for others who are ready.
If possible, I revive teammates, concentrate on the marked targets, defend someone who's hacking, and so forth.
I will try out Silver when I consistently rank first or second in Bronze matches and have a few characters maxed. So far, I've only managed to rank #2 once.
Yes, I took the wrong weapons with me in the beginning. Yes, I nearly missed an extraction at the end once. Yes, I'm new, yes I'm still learning and that's why I play on bronze.
So bottom line: I'm positively surprised by the multiplayer experience, and confirms the notion that people are generally nice if you have some common sense.
*Some guy, the only one with a microphone (I play on PS3, almost nobody has one, and I prefer it actually), was being a ****** while we waited for the other players to get ready and was telling me how not to behave in the upcoming match, with colorful words.
