Hey, I wanted to make a melee rogue (assassin wannabe), now I saw there is a rogue skill that makes attacks get  affected by cunning instead of str. So my question is should I bother with str at all or leave it at 10?

You'll definitely need a fair bit of strength - first, because you can't get that talent immmediately, and it would be very, very hard to play a melee character with 10 strength 'til then - and also because there's still a strength requirement on weapons and armour. So you still need some strength, though you could decide to only put points in it when/if you get a nice new bit of gear that needs it.

Yeah, to at least get by before getting lethality, strength is nice, but you don't have to go crazy with it. I'm keeping strength/willpower 4 points behind dex/cunning and constitution 6 points behind.

Can anyone tell me if there is a site with detailed gear/class statistics and requirements.. I know the game just came out but I'm sure some people have already examined every corner of it.

I didn't note it down but someone asked a few days ago, when the prima guide was still unintentionnally public. The top tier leather armor requires 20 strength, that's what you should aim for by end game, most likely. Medium armor requires a lot more strength (30-something) and stamina and doesn't even protect much more, so you can pretty much forget it.

Top-tier one handed weapons (ie swords, not daggers) require 30-something strength too.

Dagers have a dex requirement but no strength. Same for bows (short and long). Crossbows have a strength requirement though and are better suited as alt-weapons for warriors.

So overall, it seems 20 strength is all you need. I'm still tempted to try a "heavy" rogue with medium armor and one-handed weapon + dagger, but it seems to be a pretty bad idea for powergaming.

What about an Archer? Do assassin and duelist classes required dual weapons? or do their attacks work for bows?

Can go 2hd rogue as well. Just get cunning/dex required for whatever you need then massive STR/WILL/CON. Backstack with the 2hd talents should "hurt" aplenty...

Thx Loc N lol

PorcelynDoll - they do not, however their combat talents focus on dual weapon skills, so if you're going melee it would be a good idea to just dual-wield.

ty. I dislike melee. I stick with archer and mage type toons. I guess Ranger/Bard is the way to go. I'm assuming that as an archer I'll only need str to equip armor.

I disclosed my plan for a rogue many topics ago and I was advised not to neglect strength because of the armour and some weapons.

I'm going to do dex and cunning because I really like coercion.I've always been a persuade/Diplomacy type. Willpower too for stamina right? I'm playing my mage right now which is an easy set up, but I'm kind of wanting to go through with my Dalish elf rogue now.

I have exactly the same preference.
