is it the spell caster sword from the mage in the ruined temple?

can you still have hold of it when preforming spells like the staf or  puts it away like other wepons?

If you are going for the most possible damage on the console dagger is the best either the edge or roses thorn. Faster attacks mean more primal weapon buff applications and without the dex hotfix they get the full benefit of strength/magic. I have been dual wielding daggers on my nightmare solo play through and i like it quite bit.
